Greetings! This universal article will focus on how to update your TV. First of all, we are talking about updating the firmware and Smart TV. But you may mean something else by this. I suggest you get down to business!
Attention! All TVs are different. It is impossible to write detailed instructions for all models in one article. Therefore, look for analogies or look for the exact procedure for your specific model.
The steps are shown using Samsung TVs as an example. We have a separate article for LG and others.
Method 1 – Via the Internet
This method is relevant for TVs with Smart TV. For others, I recommend moving to the next section of the update from a flash drive. Everything is quite simple here:
- We connect our TV to the Internet. Surely you already have it connected to it, so this point is more for checking - so that there is a place for him to download his update from.
- Use the remote control to enter the TV menu (you've probably already done this).
- "Support":
- “Software update” (if this item is missing, it means you most likely have problems with the Internet, check its availability, and also reboot the TV and router):
- “Update now” (sometimes this item is called “Online”):
- The TV will start checking for updates, and if there is anything, it will display a message about it:
- We agree to the download and wait for the process to complete. Afterwards the TV will reboot and start working again.
Attention! Never turn off the TV during the update. Otherwise, you will have to use a manual update via a flash drive.
Occasionally there is a need to update to an older firmware version - in this case, updating via USB will help again.
TV repair MYSTERY MTV-4128LTA2
General recommendations for repairing TV LCD LED
Possible faults
— MYSTERY MTV-4128LTA2 does not turn on and does not show any signs of performance at all.
The indicators do not blink and do not respond to control buttons. With such manifestations, the power module usually fails. It is necessary to measure the output voltages in its secondary circuits, and if they are completely absent, the serviceability of the power switches and rectifier diodes should be checked for possible breakdown (short circuit). In case of breakdowns of semiconductors in the secondary circuits of any converter, as a rule, it can operate in emergency short circuit mode without output voltages, and in the event of a short circuit in the elements of the primary circuit, the mains fuse most often immediately breaks and, less often, the current sensor at the source of the switch. Breakdown of Mos-Fet switches used in pulsed sources is often caused by malfunctions of other elements, for example, in the power circuit of a PWM regulator, in frequency-setting or damper circuits, as well as in Negative Feedback stabilization. PWM chips are usually checked by replacing them with new ones or ones that are known to be good.
— There is no picture, there is sound, it responds to the remote control, the channels are switched. In some cases, the image appears when turned on and immediately disappears.
A malfunction in these cases is usually most likely in the backlight units of the display matrix. The reason for this may be a break in the LED circuit, or a problem in stabilizing their power supply. It is impossible to detect a break in a line of LEDs without disassembling the panel with a simple multimeter. The LEDs are connected in series and to open their junctions, a voltage of several tens of volts is required. Ideally, a current source is suitable for such purposes. You can open the panel and check each LED separately. Typically, Chinese multimeters lightly illuminate one 3-volt LED if you connect the probes to it in the forward direction (red probe to the anode, black probe to the cathode). For dual 6-volt LEDs, the PN junction of its emergency zener diode can serve as an indicator of the health of the LED. If the LED malfunctions, its zener diode will either be torn off or broken into short-circuit.
— The indicator on the front panel blinks, the TV does not turn on in operating mode, and does not respond to the remote control.
Repair or diagnostics of the MSDV3224-ZC01-01 motherboard should begin with checking the stabilizers and power converters necessary to power the chips and matrix. If necessary, the software (software) should be updated or replaced. When repairing the MB board, you need to check its components MSD308BT-SW, TPA3113D2, 25Q64BS, K4B1G1646G-BCKO, NT5CB128M16HP-D. Defective elements should be replaced. If chips with BGA soldering technology are used, problems in its implementation are detected by local heating of the chip.
If the TV works normally from external devices, but does not tune in to TV channels, the Tuner may be faulty. In such cases, first of all, you should make sure that there is supply voltage at its corresponding terminals. You also need to make sure that the tuner and processor can exchange data via the I2C bus. Sometimes the cause of the tuner not working may be a software glitch.
Attention users! Repairing the MYSTERY MTV-4128LTA2 TV yourself without the appropriate qualifications and necessary experience can lead to its complete irreparability!
Method 2 – Via USB
Since you are in this section, it means you need to do something more serious - either roll back to the old version, or restore the TV. Occasionally, people come here who simply do not have a Smart TV or Internet connection. The best way to update your Smart TV as standard is see the previous section.
We will need:
- The required firmware from the site.
- A flash drive that can accommodate this firmware file.
I would like to immediately draw attention to the numbering of the firmware. The higher the number, the newer it is:
Next steps:
- Go to the support section of the Samsung website, select your model and download the required firmware version:
- Format a flash drive in FAT TVs that are familiar to us may not understand NTFS:
- Copy the firmware to the USB flash drive and run this file. The file is an archive, so we will be asked to unzip it directly to the root. What we do:
- We wait for the archive extraction process to complete, and after that we remove the flash drive from the computer and insert it into the TV:
- We turn on the TV. Go to the “Support” menu:
- Software Update:
- Update now:
- A message will appear indicating that you are trying to search for firmware on the flash drive. We agree with this:
- If detection is successful, you will be prompted to update the TV. We agree and wait for the process to complete.
What you need to know
Now there are some things to note that you really should know. Remember that when flashing a navigator, the principle applies is “don’t do more harm than you already have.” You should flash it when the battery is fully charged or if you forgot to charge it, just connect the navigator to power. If during flashing the battery charge drops to zero, then as a result you will get a “dead” navigator that will no longer show you anything at all, not even the initial screensaver. Among other things, do not experiment with unverified firmware; download only from reputable sites.
Flashing should be done when the battery is fully charged
How to download the firmware?
This is especially true for the second method. Those who were unable to download their firmware do this:
- Go to the website www.samsung.com/ru/support and enter the exact model of your TV:
- Downloads and manuals:
- Download the latest software with the highest number (USB type):
You can now transfer the downloaded firmware to a flash drive for updating using Method 2 described above.
That's all. Despite the fact that the steps describe in detail the update procedure on Samsung, in my experience, most modern TVs are updated this way. For other cases, there are official websites of manufacturers with detailed instructions. In addition, you can describe your experience in the comments - you got here, which means other readers will also get here, and your review can make their life much easier. See you all soon! Let's help each other.

Why do you need flashing?
TV equipment manufacturers strongly advise against ignoring official updates. And there are a number of good reasons for this. Timely flashing of the TV increases the stability of its operation and eliminates all or at least most of the vulnerabilities that are typical for Smart technology.
In a good half of cases, all models that have just appeared on the market have crude software that works with glitches and errors. Most often, owners of new LG and Dexp TVs encounter such problems. The basic factory firmware has not changed for years, and the models begin to freeze, “think” for a long time, or even periodically turn off. The only panacea in this case is to update the software on the TV.
The second point is the speed of work. Manufacturers try to optimize the software as efficiently as possible, which reduces the time it takes to complete both basic and more advanced tasks. After updating the TV, channels will begin to switch faster, and applications will become noticeably more responsive.
And the last thing is the expansion of functionality. Software developers are constantly adding and improving their services. TV manufacturers, in turn, make sure that their equipment has an up-to-date platform for working with both third-party and their own services.
Advice! You can find out exactly what changes the flashing will bring on the brand’s official website. The “Technical Support” section describes in detail all the nuances of the software: new functions, solved problems, elimination of specific vulnerabilities, etc.
What you need to have
To flash the firmware, you will need a microSD flash drive removed from the navigator, with a memory capacity of at least 128 MB. You will also need to have a firmware file downloaded from the Internet. Among other things, if you do not have a card reader to connect a flash drive directly to a PC, then use any device with a microSD slot, such as a smartphone, as well as a USB cable. In principle, the same “set” as during flashing the GARMIN navigator.
