NTV Plus television broadcasts from the Eutelsat W4 + W7 36E satellite, the coverage map is designed for subscribers in the western part of Russia. The location of the satellite is 36 degrees east longitude, which is the most convenient position for the Moscow region. Due to the fact that Moscow is located at thirty-seven degrees, the angle of elevation above the horizon is maximum for our area.

As can be seen on the interactive map, the coverage area partially reaches Europe and some countries of the former USSR. It is possible to receive a digital signal outside our country, but the official NTV+ subscription agreement states that the company provides services only in the Russian Federation. For the entire area, which is indicated in red on the coverage map, an antenna of 55 or 60 centimeters is sufficient. If you want to be safe in case of bad weather, you can install an 80 cm plate. For the periphery you will need an even larger diameter, otherwise the picture will crumble into squares and the message “no signal” will appear on the TV screen. You also need to take into account the presence of obstacles in the signal path. Despite the large coverage area, if there are trees or tall buildings in the direction of the satellite, NTV+ will not work. How to set up a satellite dish for NTV+Far East

The antenna is tuned to the Express AT2 satellite, located at the 140 deg position. e.d.

First you need to choose a location to install the antenna and determine at least the approximate direction to the satellite.

We will not delve into technical difficulties, and will offer the simplest and most accurate way to configure the antenna. You only need to be careful and attentive. Where should I point the antenna, or what horizontal direction should I set?

For settlements located posterior to 140° east. the satellite will be located in the southeast (and if you live exactly at the 140th parallel, then the satellite will be exactly in the south for you). If you live east of 140°E, then your satellite will be in the southwest.

That is, the further you are from the 140th parallel, the greater the antenna's azimuth (horizontal) deviation will be from south, west or east, depending on which side of the 140th parallel you are on.

For example, you live in Vladivostok, which is located at 132° East. That is, the installation location of the NTV+Vostok antenna is located west of the position where the satellite is located (140°). This means you need to turn the antenna to the east by about 140° - 132° = 8°.

If you live, for example, in Novoe Chaplino, the village is located at 172° east, then you need to turn the antenna to the west, approximately 172° - 140° = 32°.

This is the principle used to calculate the angle of rotation of the antenna in azimuth.

When choosing a location to install the antenna, it is important that no obstacles block the signal from the satellite. Since the exact position of the satellite in the sky cannot be established without special calculations, it is better to choose a place to install the antenna where there are no obstacles in the place of the intended direction to the satellite, or their height is not much higher than the height of the antenna installation site.

How to determine how much to tilt the antenna?

Again, without going into exact calculations, you should adhere to the following principle: the farther the antenna installation location is from the 140th parallel, the more the antenna must be tilted forward. To begin with, you can install the antenna vertically, and then, as you scan, as indicated in the figure below, tilt the antenna until a signal appears.

You should also be sure to change the converter settings . The processing of a satellite signal by a receiving device (satmeter, receiver), unlike the terrestrial signal, does not occur instantly, but with some delay (fractions of a second) in time. Therefore, you need to turn the antenna slowly , and all the time watch the level and quality scales on the receiver.

After at least some level and quality values ​​have appeared, you should slightly tighten the antenna mounting bolts and then bring the values ​​to the maximum. It will never be 100%, and the maximum values ​​will be different on different receiver models. This should not be confusing, since receivers are not standardized among themselves, and everything is measured in “parrots”.

It may not be possible to achieve a stable signal (the image will fade, the signal level will be unstable). In this case, you need to check the entire receiving path from the antenna to the entrance to the satellite receiver.

Losses can occur due to obstacles that interfere with the passage of the signal (tree branches, wires, etc.), violation of the antenna geometry (bruised during transportation, rusted, etc.), poor antenna cable (damaged, old, no characteristics correspond to satellite parameters, too long), poorly made connections (the central core of the cable in the F connector shorts to the braid, there is no ground, etc.), faulty converter (the housing is damaged - moisture gets in, the antenna connector is oxidized, etc.).

If everything is done correctly, everything is in order and no obstacles block the satellite, then the antenna is guaranteed to be tuned. In any case, if you can’t immediately lock the signal, don’t despair, blame the equipment, satellite, NTV+, etc.)). It’s better to take your time, check everything again and repeat the process.

After you have achieved the maximum level and quality, you should carefully tighten all the antenna fasteners and scan the channels on the NTV+ receiver.
