Hello, readers of the blog FairHeart.ru. The other day I had to face a household problem - setting up home Internet and television from Beeline. The fact is that I have an Asus router, which is not standard for Beeline, so all the difficulties of working with it fell on my shoulders. In order not to forget how I did all this, I decided to write this article. Maybe it will help someone else.

I think everyone knows that with Beeline, connecting and setting up home Internet and television is absolutely free, but there is one BUT: the equipment must be Beeline or recommended by them, which is essentially the same thing. If you have, for example, an Asus router, then you will have to configure it yourself.

A specialist from beeline will only extend the cable to the router or television equipment, and then dig in yourself. The technical support service won’t help either; they don’t understand technology at all, but they can answer some general questions and give standard advice. Usually the conversation with them comes down to the following: “No Internet? Reboot your router! ASUS router?!!! Uh, then we can’t help you with anything.”

In short, beeline will have to rely only on itself when it comes to setting up the Internet.

IPTV from Beeline: features and capabilities

IPTV from Beeline allows you not only to watch television programs, but also to record your favorite episodes.
IPTV digital television operates over a twisted Ethernet cable used for the Internet. Each channel of the broadcast network has its own identifier, which is recognized by the set-top box. The unit is equipped with a microprocessor and a storage device for recording broadcasts.

The user can view content from other storage devices connected via the USB port. A separate control panel with an infrared transmitter is provided for channel control and settings.

The built-in audio decoder allows you to play sounds in ACC, FLAC, MP3, OGG and WMA formats, and supports video and photo playback (JPG, PNG, GIF and BMP resolution).

Connection rules

The subscriber must first check the possibility of accessing the service (via the operator’s website or by calling the support phone). Then you need to select a tariff and fill out an application for connection. After this, they install the router and connect the set-top box and TVs available in the apartment.

Using a set-top box

Connection algorithm:

Connect the router to the provider's cable and AC power.
Connect the set-top box with a cable to the router (to any of the free ports) and a power outlet.
Connect the set-top box and the television receiver with a cord (the type of connector depends on the model and age of the TV).
Turn on the equipment by pressing the Power button, wait until the Link indicator lights up.
Check the router: the device should have indicator lights for power, network, and LAN ports to which peripheral devices are connected.

TV Smart

The setup algorithm depends on the TV manufacturer. A Wi-Fi wireless communication channel is used for switching. You must first configure the router, activate the network, and set the identification parameters for peripheral devices.

After completing the preliminary adjustments, you can begin installing the viewing utility and connecting the IPTV set-top box from Beeline.

Brief setup algorithm:

Activate the TV menu and go to the “Network Settings” section.
Select the wireless connection mode, and then find in the list the network created using the router installed in your apartment or office.

For wireless setup, use the Wi-Fi unit installed in the TV (standard or purchased additionally):

Go to the “Settings” section and select the menu for adjusting network parameters.
Find the function for determining the switching method and select the wireless connection method.
Specify the password, and then go to the router settings through the browser window (the TV is used as a terminal to display the adjustment menu). The setup method depends on the model and manufacturer of the router. The address for accessing the menu and data for entering adjustments are indicated on a label glued to the bottom of the case. Additional setup information is provided in the operating instructions and is also available on the manufacturer's website.

D-Link

Sequence of actions when setting up D-Link brand routers:

Enter the adjustment mode through the browser (address 192.168.0.1).
Specify the password and username (the default is admin).
Select the IPTV setup mode and indicate in the LAN port selection window the connector to which additional equipment for digital television is connected.
Save the settings and check the functionality of the set-top box.

TP-Link

TP-Link brand equipment requires the following settings:

Turn on the browser, enter the address 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into the line, and then enter the username (admin) and password (admin).
Go to the Network settings section and select the IPTV option.
Activate the IGMP Proxy function and select the bridge operating mode.
In the IPTV port field, indicate the connector that is used to connect the set-top box.
Confirm the changes made and exit the setup mode.

Asus

To configure Asus routers you need:

Activate the setup menu through the browser (the start page has the address 192.168.1.1), and then specify the user name and code word (admin is set by default).
Find the local network adjustment section and go to the IPTV function.
In the dialog box, enable IGMP Proxy and IGMP Snooping modes.
Specify the UDP proxy field as 1234, and then save the settings.

Net Gear

Adjustment procedure for Net Gear equipment:

Enter the settings menu by pointing to the link 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the browser address bar.
Enter the user name (default is admin) and password (factory default password).
In the menu that opens, select the advanced adjustments mode and select the “Settings” section.
Go to the function for selecting Internet port parameters.
Find the IPTV redirection value and specify the port number to which the set-top box is connected (for example, LAN1 or LAN3).
Save the settings and close the browser window.

Zyxel

Algorithm for setting up Zyxel brand routers:

Download the browser and enter the settings menu via the link 192.168.1.1.
Specify the user name and password in the dialog box (the manufacturer set the values to admin and 1234, respectively, the user can change the data).
Go to the WAN section and select the Choose Bridge Port function.
Specify the port to which the set-top box is connected and save the settings.

What to do if the device does not work

When the Beeline TV set-top box does not respond to any actions, the problem can be solved in several ways. The best option is to go to the official Beeline website and find the section called “TV Self-Diagnostics”. To get help online, you will first need to identify the nature of the problem. The following difficulties may arise:

the TV screen is completely black or blue, or the message “No Signal” appears;
instructions for setting up the remote control were displayed against a starry background;
the list of channels does not correspond to the list stated in the tariff plan;
a red cross appeared on the screen;
the message “Press OK to unlock” appeared;
the image “crumbles”;
The message “Client initialization error” appears on the screen.

The set-top box may not respond due to a faulty remote control. It is worth making sure that the reason lies in the receiver itself, and not in one of the points on the way to it.

Possible problems and troubleshooting

Problems with digital television from Beeline noted by users:

Access is blocked due to insufficient balance to pay for the service. To solve the problem, you need to deposit funds through the terminal or through your “Personal Account” using a bank card.
Drop in speed and connection interruptions due to damaged wire lines or airborne interference. The user needs to inspect the cables in the room (for LAN connection) or move the wireless router to another point in the apartment or office. If the speed is not restored, you should contact technical support.
No signal due to technical work, the problem disappears after the repair is completed.
Periodic malfunction of the set-top box due to incorrect operation of the software. The user needs to update the firmware. If the problem persists, you need to contact customer support.
