The digital terrestrial television and radio broadcasting network in Chuvashia has been fully launched since the end of 2021. As part of the project implementation, 42 communication facilities were built and modernized on the territory of the republic.
On April 15, 2021, the Chuvash Republic successfully switched from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting.
Previously, many residents of Chuvashia, especially in rural areas, could receive no more than two or three TV channels, but now - 20 TV channels in excellent quality, without a subscription fee. It is also very important that viewers still have the opportunity to watch local news and programs. Regional broadcasting is available on the TV channels “Russia 1” and “Russia 24”.
In Chuvashia, digital terrestrial TV coverage is 99.1%. Due to the terrain, the signal is absent in 68 settlements and in another 15 reception is partial. The state guarantees residents living in such territories free viewing of 20 TV channels via satellite. A set of equipment can be ordered directly from operators at a special price.
Consultations on all issues related to the transition to digital can be obtained on the website smotritsitru.rf and by calling the hotline 8-800-220-20-02.

Most often, the TV software finds all over-the-air channels by auto-search. But sometimes manual tuning is required, which requires knowing the exact frequencies for your location.
On this page you will find values for all regions of Russia, and you can also check the relevance of these values using an interactive map of digital television.
Digital TV broadcast frequencies for your location
To find out your TVC number and multiplex broadcast frequencies, enter the name of your region in the “Search” line - the table will display the required values.

Checking the relevance of the data on the RTRS card
Sometimes digital towers can change frequencies abruptly without prior notice to the media. However, all relevant information is necessarily displayed in the service supported by the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS).
I strongly recommend checking the relevance of the values found above using this map - it will take 2 minutes.
Checking instructions:
- Find your locality. The service should automatically determine your location and show the nearest towers. If this does not happen, in the “Address or facility” line at the top, enter your city or town.
- Find your house on the map and click on it with the left mouse button. It's okay if you clicked on a neighboring house - an error of up to 500 m is acceptable.
- A window will appear in front of you with the exact frequencies for the 1st (RTRS-1) and 2nd (RTRS-2) multiplexes. It deciphers like this:
- Write down or photograph these values. Information is given from two nearby television towers (No. 1 and No. 2) and in 90% of cases the frequencies on them coincide. If the repeater data differs (this happens, this is normal), then manually configure both options and select the one where the signal will be better.
This online service has other useful features for viewers, which I talk about on the CETV Map page. Did you manage to find your frequencies?

The process of manually searching for channels on a TV or set-top box
Having received the necessary information about the frequencies of digital terrestrial TV from the map, turn on the TV and start searching for channels manually:
- Go to the menu.
- Find the section responsible for setting up channels.
- When selecting a signal source, specify “Antenna” (of course, it must support the UHF range).
- Select the “Channel Settings” mode (on other TVs it may be called slightly differently).
- Go to "Manual setup".
- Using the remote control, enter the TVC number and broadcast frequency of the 1st multiplex found in the previous step.
- Click "Start Search" and in 2-5 minutes 10 TV channels are set up.
- Repeat the entire procedure from the beginning, but now substituting the recorded values for the 2nd multiplex.
- After 5 minutes the search will end. In total, the TV should have 20 digital channels.
Here is a simple video instruction using a Samsung TV as an example:
Manual search on an external tuner is performed in a similar way, with the only exception that you need to manage the settings not of the TV, but of the set-top box itself.
BENEFITS OF CONNECTING TO DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL TELEVISION
- Unlike cable and satellite TV, you don't have to pay every month. There is no subscription fee.
- Perfect picture. You will forget about ripples on your TV, bad weather will no longer spoil the picture on your TV screen.
- Simple and quick installation at a time convenient for you.
- 20 different TV channels. And their number is constantly increasing.
- Additional functions - pause, record, watch video from USB, TV guide.
- Digital broadcast equipment operates throughout Russia.
Broadcasting frequency of the 3rd package
The third multiplex is also awaiting its launch throughout the country, and residents of Moscow and the Moscow region can already use it, where RTRS-3 is broadcast from the Ostankino Tower. The third dozen TV channels can be caught on the frequency 578 MHz (34 TVCs).
The main problems of launching the third multiplex in Russia:
- The decimeter (UHF) range, in which digital TV is distributed, is not enough to broadcast 30 free channels throughout the country, and analogue broadcasting occupies the entire meter range.
- At the moment, the formation of the list of available programs has not yet been completed, although Roskomnadzor has issued a license to more than 40 television companies that can now work with RTRS-3.
These problems can be solved, and soon reception of the 3rd multiplex will be possible throughout the country. Cheboksary > Directory > Communications > Telecommunications companies
