To connect digital television, it is enough to have a tuner and an external antenna. Connection in different regions is practically the same. Depending on the distance to the broadcasting tower, 10 or 20 channels will be available to you - but this is subject to good communication. Basically, all channels are supported in cities and nearby towns. The farther you go, the fewer channels there actually are. But these nuances can also be resolved by installing a more powerful antenna.

Channel settings may differ on built-in DVB-T2 tuners from external ones. But the logic of action is the same everywhere. Many experience connection difficulties in the Altai region, as well as in the Krasnodar and Perm regions. That is why we decided to write a short but informative article on how to solve all sorts of problems for comfortable viewing of digital television.

What is multiplex?

Multiplex is a package of digital TV channels broadcast by one transmitter on one frequency in the DVB-T2 broadcasting standard adopted in the Russian Federation. It includes ten TV channels. The following federal channels become available and free for residents of the region: “Channel One”, “Russia 1”, “Match TV”, NTV, “Channel Five”, “Russia K”, “Russia 24”, “Carousel”, OTR, “ TV Center (first multiplex), Ren TV, Spas, STS, Domashny, TV-3, Friday, Zvezda, Mir, TNT, Muz-TV (second multiplex) .

Who can receive compensation for the purchase of equipment?

According to Evgeniy Zryumov, the regional budget has allocated 7.6 million rubles to provide targeted assistance for the transition to digital broadcasting. Low-income citizens and families living in settlements not covered by the digital broadcasting network or located in an area of uncertain signal reception are provided with 100% compensation for the cost of satellite equipment (after purchase, but not more than 4,500 rubles). Socially vulnerable citizens and families living in settlements of the region covered by the digital terrestrial television broadcasting network are also provided with 100% compensation for the cost of a DVB-T2 digital set-top box for receiving free digital television (after its purchase, but not more than 1000 rubles).

For advice on the required list of documents, you can contact the social protection departments for city districts and municipal areas or call 8 (3852) 27-36-66.

Digital is a plus

The main advantage of digital is its accessibility. Unlike users of cable and satellite operator networks, digital television viewers do not pay a subscription fee for television viewing.

The cost of a set of receiving equipment for digital broadcasting is several times cheaper than a set of satellite television. Cable television is available only to residents of apartment buildings in cities, while terrestrial television can be received without restrictions in any area.

According to the director of the branch of the Russian television and radio broadcasting network "Altai Regional Radio and Television Transmission Center" Sergei Molkov, unlike analogue, digital technologies make it possible to transmit image and sound in high quality, which does not change depending on the distance from the transmitting station to the receiver. There are, of course, limitations in reception range, and this must be taken into account when selecting and installing a receiving antenna. In digital television, in addition to the channels themselves, you can view the TV program and receive emergency signals.

What if the signal doesn't get through?

In the Altai Territory there are about 250 settlements (53 thousand people live there) that are not covered by the digital terrestrial television broadcasting network or are located in an area of uncertain signal reception. At the Government Forum, the Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Altai Territory, Evgeny Zryumov, announced that residents of these villages will be able to watch digital TV via satellite. The government of the Altai Territory signed an agreement with three satellite television operators - MTS, Orion, NTV Plus. These companies are ready to provide residents from villages with unstable signals with 20 digital channels from digital multiplexes for free.

What will happen to local TV?

State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Altai" will continue its broadcasting. Since July 2021, the Rossiya 1 and Rossiya 24 TV channels, which are part of the first multiplex of digital terrestrial television broadcasting, have been broadcasting regional television programs. Analog broadcasts of all regional, municipal and private channels will continue in the prescribed manner. The regional TV channel “Katun 24” can be watched both on the Internet and in the package of the satellite operator “Telekarta”. The Government of the Russian Federation is also considering the issue of placing regional inserts in other federal TV channels, for example, the OTR TV channel.

What will happen to small TV channels in the regions and small towns of the region is not yet clear.
