Modern tablet
is a lightweight and portable computer equipped with a touch screen and inputs and outputs for connecting peripheral devices. You can control the tablet with your fingers, stylus, keyboard, joystick and mouse. The tablet can now be easily connected to an external monitor or TV if there is an HDMI output.
The tablet differs from ordinary computers in form factor, since it does not have a keyboard built into the case.
The first tablets appeared relatively long ago, but they began to gain popularity only when their performance became significantly closer to the power of netbooks and laptops.
Over time, the situation has changed so much that some tablets began to surpass some models of netbooks and even laptops in power. Such tablets are equipped with two, four (and even higher) CPU cores and several GPU cores. The battery life of tablets has increased significantly, approaching and even exceeding the battery life of laptops.
Until recently, the weak point of tablets was a full-fledged operating system. There were some kind of shells and add-ons over the operating system, where the user could only do what the shell provided him, and applications could only be used those that were in the application stores. Connecting anything non-standard was out of the question.
For this reason, I used to choose a laptop for work. Tablets were assigned exclusively to the role of leisure - to play/shoot on the road. But, in essence, it turned out that on a long journey we had to take both. Mainly due to the lack of a built-in keyboard on tablets, which made typing difficult.
But the situation began to change dramatically.
More and more often, tablet keyboards began to appear, which were easily attached to the tablet and together made up a full-fledged device. Thus, in the Dexp Ursus KX110 AVA model, the keyboard not only easily attaches (and detaches) to the tablet with magnetic connectors, but also folds to form a tablet case, protecting the screen from damage. Those. The keyboard and tablet are practically one whole.
It's up to the operating system. But here, too, a breakthrough occurred. A full-fledged operating system has become as integral a part as on conventional computers.
Personally, by “full-fledged operating system” I mean the following:
- Free and full access to the file system. I should be able to copy, delete, move, edit the file I need without connecting the tablet to the computer and launching special shells. Apple tablets especially irritate me in this sense.
- Connecting the devices I need and installing drivers for them.
- Installing any software (I need), not just what I can find in app stores.
- Multitasking. While the application is counting, you can do something else. Or, if I opened a music or video movie in the browser and set it to play, then its playback is not interrupted when I switch to another bookmark in the browser.
- Tablet.
- Charger 9V 2000 mA.
- MicroUSB to USB cable (USB OTG).
- Quick user guide and warranty card.
- Keyboard Case.
Of course, the price should be reasonable and significantly lower than the cost of a laptop. If the cost of a tablet is close to the cost of a laptop, I'll take a laptop.
The DEXP Ursus KX110 AVA tablet, I think, will satisfy many with its price (at the time of writing, the cost of the tablet is around 12 thousand rubles), the presence of a built-in keyboard case, and a full-fledged operating system. All that remains is to make sure that Windows 10 is truly complete and not just a set of tiles.
Let's start with a description of the tablet.

A good test for the “usefulness” of a tablet would be to connect a non-standard device, for example, a TV tuner, install drivers and corresponding software and test operation in “field” conditions.
Indeed, it is the operation of the tablet with TV tuners for receiving terrestrial DVB-T2 television that will allow us to evaluate the level of performance of the tablet platform itself (Intel Atom Z3735, Intel HD Graphics 620 MHz) on real tasks of video signal processing, as well as the tablet’s capabilities for comfortable viewing of promising, terrestrial digital TV, which is gaining popularity in all regions of Russia.

TV tuners
To test the operation of the system, the latest models of TV tuners from GOTVIEW were selected: GOTVIEW MASTERHD 3 and GOTVIEW MASTERHD 5.
We have already written about tuners from this manufacturer here and here.
At the time of writing the review, the approximate price for them on the Yandex market was 4190 rubles in Moscow. and 4989 rub. respectively.

A logical question may arise: “Why a TV tuner, when the Internet is now full of all kinds of content, including ON-LINE TV?”
Yes, that's all true. However, all this is only available if you have good high-speed unlimited Internet at hand. But such a service is currently only available to residents of large cities. What should others do?
The supposedly unlimited Internet offered by almost all mobile operators is in fact very limited. Basically, this is 3-5 GB per month, i.e. one or two days of watching TV and you have to buy traffic for a lot of extra money.
Therefore, to a logical question we give a logical answer: “Why do you need a TV tuner? And to watch TV completely free !”
And now there is something to watch - about 30 TV channels in high quality, plus several radio channels (in Moscow there are 30 TV channels and 3 radio channels broadcast in the DVB-T2 standard).
Also, in many Russian cities, cable TV providers offer DVB-C channels in open broadcasting. And this is no longer small - up to 120 (and even more) channels, including HD channels and 3D broadcasts.
To receive DVB-T2 channels you do not need to install a large satellite dish. Reception is carried out using the supplied nail antenna:

Now practice. Can a tablet work as a full-fledged computer?
Let's start installing and configuring TV tuners. Drivers and current software versions were downloaded from the GOTVIEW website.
The tuners are connected to the tablet via a standard USB port. Be sure to set your tablet to maximum performance and prevent Windows from disabling USB ports to save power. This is done in the Control Panel in the “Power Options” section. Without these settings, the operating system may turn off the TV tuner while watching programs, detecting that no one is working on the tablet.
When connected to the tablet, the tuners indicate their readiness to start working with the corresponding indicators:
After connecting the TV tuner, Windows 10 finds the new device and offers either automatic driver installation or the path to the folder on the disk from which to install the driver. Let's choose the second one.
After specifying the folder and installing the drivers, the tuner was displayed in Device Manager, ready for use.
Both tuners installed without any problems under the Windows 10 operating system.
Here we’ll immediately make a reservation that when writing the review, we were interested in the tablet’s capabilities for receiving the modern standard of terrestrial digital DVB-T2 television due to its promise and clearly higher quality of image and sound compared to analog television, as well as its rapid spread throughout Russia.
Therefore, we did not consider the capabilities of the GOTVIEW MASTERHD 5 tuner for analog signal processing (for this we use the GOTVIEW PRO program). For those interested, GOTVIEW has reviews on this topic.
We install the software - the GOTVIEW DVB program (for working with digital DVB-T2/C channels) and launch it. When you first launch the program, it prompts you to search for channels.
You must set the PLP ID field to MultiPLP and start scanning.
After searching, we transfer the found channels to the table and all program settings end there. You can start watching shows.
The search for DVB-C channels is carried out in the same way. The only difference is that to receive cable channels you need to connect not an external antenna, but the one installed by the TV provider. In the search settings you need to specify the DVB-C broadcast parameters, otherwise the program will not detect the channels.
There are no open DVB-C channels broadcast in Moscow, so I did not have the opportunity to test this feature on the tablet. But, as noted above, in the regions many providers broadcast open digital DVB-C channels and, judging by the reviews on the GOTVIEW forum, this function is quite in demand.
While watching programs, an OSD menu is available, which allows you to display the name of the current program, find out how much time has passed since the start of the program and how much time remains.
In addition, the program schedule for all channels is displayed.
You can watch and record almost everything that is broadcast. Moreover, the program allows you to record several channels broadcasting in one PLP at once. This is called transport stream recording. In Moscow, at a frequency of 546 MHz, broadcasting is carried out in SinglePLP. In this case, the user has the opportunity to record 10 channels at once.
The resulting transport stream can be watched by selecting the desired channel in the viewer program, or cut the desired channel into a separate file using special programs (the programs are free and easy to find on the Internet).
The CPU load while watching TV channels ranged from 11 to 19% (see screenshot below).
Low system load indicates that all functions of image decoding, scaling and displaying images are performed (as expected) by the video card, practically without consuming the resources of the central processor.
You can watch programs in “delayed viewing” mode.
This is a very convenient viewing mode, because at any time you can press the “Pause” button, do something, and then continue watching. In addition, you can go back and watch some moment again. Football fans especially appreciate this feature.
True, the system load increases two to three times, because the program records video and sound directly to disk, and then plays back from the specified location and at the selected speed. For example, an advertisement can be rewinded or watched at an accelerated pace. It's even fun.

It is impossible not to talk about the implementation of the TV program in the GOTVIEW DVB program.
You do not need the Internet to receive the program guide. The GOTVIEW DVB program generates a list of programs automatically directly from the on-air digital stream.
For each program, you can read the announcement and schedule a viewing or recording.
I would like to emphasize one very important detail. Programs for tablets were usually written not so long ago and have a certain degree of “dampness”, i.e. a certain number of errors that are found and corrected over time. We are talking about programs for Android and Apple iOS.
In the case of a tablet running a full-fledged Windows operating system, this is not the case. For example, GOTVIEW software has been developing for more than 12 years: it is constantly being improved and supplemented with new functions.
Currently, programs from GOTVIEW have become one of the most functional for TV tuners, and the use of Windows system libraries allows you to fully function under any version of Windows, starting with Windows XP. And, as we were able to verify, under the new Windows 10 operating system.
Concluding the article, I want to say that I have changed my attitude towards tablets, as some flawed devices with some limited functionality. Tablets based on Windows 10 have proven to be quite a full-fledged system where you can install third-party hardware and software. And with increased performance, such tablets have every chance to catch up and even significantly displace expensive laptops on the market. Especially if you have a pretty good keyboard with a touchpad included in the kit.

- The built-in browser easily plays Flash animation without installing anything third-party.
- Videos on YOUTUBE play normally, including FULL HD. Moreover, the playback of such videos or music from sites actually happens in the background when you switch to another bookmark. Those. multitasking really exists and is visible, unlike other systems.
- Video and audio files play without problems.
- A full-fledged multitasking Windows 10 operating system with the ability to install the necessary drivers and programs.
- A powerful video system that allows hardware decoding of “heavy” films, almost completely relieving the system.
- Built-in keyboard with a good touchpad, which eliminates the need for additional external keyboards and mice. In fact, we get a full-fledged ultra-thin laptop for the price of a tablet.
- The tablet successfully passed the test of working with TV tuners to receive DVB-T2 broadcast television and demonstrated a good level of performance of the platform itself (Intel Atom Z3735, Intel HD Graphics 620 MHz) on real video signal processing tasks. At the same time, the CPU load while watching TV channels was in the range of 11-19%, and in the “delayed viewing” mode – in the range of 45-60%.
Minuses:
- Stained body.
- When working with the keyboard, I would like to connect the power cord to the keyboard itself, and not to the tablet, because... The USB port is blocked. This minus can be considered as a wish for the developers.
CONCLUSIONS: Today, some tablets have reached the level of desktop systems. Having a full-fledged operating system, the user has the opportunity to install his devices and software he needs for work.
The Dexp Ursus KX110 AVA tablet, running the Windows 10 operating system, coped well with the heavy tasks of playing FULL HD movies and FLASH sites (including in the background).
A full-fledged operating system made it possible to install and configure non-standard equipment with the accompanying software. GOTVIEW TV tuners for receiving terrestrial digital DVB-T2 television significantly increase the functionality of the device, allowing you not only to watch comfortably, but also to record interesting programs. The resulting recordings can be viewed on a TV without any additional operations, thanks to the presence of an HDMI port.
The mobility of the tablet allows you to watch free digital television on the road, while walking or in a car in city traffic jams - wherever there is reliable reception of a DVB-T2 signal.
Of the GOTVIEW TV tuners presented in the review, the GOTVIEW MASTERHD 5 model is the most functional due to the ability to work not only with digital, but with analog signals, allowing you to watch analog TV and digitize audio and video tapes.
