With millions of songs and videos available on various online platforms, it sometimes becomes difficult to separate your favorites from others. I spend a lot of time trying to find the same content over and over again as I had to manually find my favorite music or video in a long list of items. Luckily, I quickly discovered the benefits of playlists, a list of all the music tracks and/or videos you decide to put under one name. So when you click on the list and open it, you'll immediately have all your favorite items. You don't have to search or search for your content anywhere else.
Here's how you can create a playlist across various video and music platforms.
Create playlists on YouTube
Creating a playlist on YouTube is very simple. You select a video and the site gives you the option to add it to an existing playlist or create a new playlist for it.
- Go to YouTube and watch the video you want to add to your playlist.
- On the video page you will find an option to add to at the bottom of the video. Click on the option and you will be able to add the video to an existing playlist.
- If you don't have a playlist yet, you can create one by clicking on Create a new playlist at the bottom of the menu. Enter a name for the playlist, select its visibility status, and finally click on Create .
a new playlist will be created with the name you selected and the video you selected will be added to it.

But first, let's figure out what the playlist itself is. In essence, this is the most common list of music and video files, a selection of television channels or links to such objects on the Internet that can be opened in a specific program and played in a given order, which is initially set in the playlist structure. If we talk about a playlist as a software component, it is a special file in which the established playback order is described. When opened, the player simply receives instructions from it regarding what to play and why. Today there are quite a lot of playlist formats, but the most popular was and remains the M3U standard, which is the most common text file that can be viewed in any text editor. But when you open it in players, the list seems to be tied to the player, and, say, not all files from the music or video collection available on the computer are played, but only those that are listed in the list.
Create playlists on Vimeo
If you've been using Vimeo for a long time, you may have noticed that the site doesn't use the term playlists anywhere. Instead, he uses the word showcase to refer to playlists.
Vimeo Showcase also comes with privacy features like YouTube playlists and creating one is as easy as clicking a few options.
- Head to Vimeo and watch the video you want to organize. in the playlist. Hover your mouse over the video and click on the second option, which is Add to Collections .
- Click on the + (plus) sign next to Showcases to the next screen. Enter a name for your showcase and click Add . A new showcase (playlist) will be created and the selected video will be added to it.

Other playlist options
This was only part of the settings. There are others too. To enter them, take the following steps:
- After the playlist name there is a label in the form of 3 horizontal dots. We need to click on this shortcut;
- We will see a context menu with 3 tabs. We need to click on the “playlist settings” command;
- So, we have a new drop-down menu. There are only two commands in this menu: “Allow embedding” and “add new video...”. To activate each of them, you need to move the slider to the right. If the slider appears blue, then you have activated this option. Don't forget to click OK after that.
Create playlists on Dailymotion
Dailymotion takes a similar approach to YouTube to allow users to create a playlist on the platform. You just need to find the video you want to add to the playlist, click on the icon and you're done.
Open on Dailymotion and play your favorite videos. While the video is playing While playing the game, you will find four icons on the right panel. Click on the last one and it will allow you to add the video to the playlist.
A lightbox will appear allowing you to add a video to an existing playlist, or create a new playlist and add a video to it. Choose what you prefer and you are good to go.

Create playlists on Metacafe
Metacafe also has an interface similar to YouTube and Dailymotion, and the Create Playlist procedure is basically the same as the other two platforms.
- Head to Metacafe, launch a video and click on the Add button under video.
- Now either select an existing playlist or create a new playlist by clicking on Add to New Playlist .
Your selected video will be added to the playlist you selected.
Changing the name
So, we will change the name of our playlist on YouTube step by step:
- Above the pencil on which we clicked to enter the name, there is another pencil, which is what we need;
- A line will appear containing the old name. The old name must be removed and a new one inserted. In my case, I changed the name “iPhones” to “Smartphones”. The entered name must be no more than 150 characters;
- The job is done, we changed the name. Although, I will still return the old one. In my opinion, it fits better here.
Create playlists on Spotify
Spotify provides a much easier way to create playlists than any other platform. Once you access the main interface of the site, you will find the option to create a playlist right on the left side of the screen.
- If you want to add a song to a playlist, play it on Spotify web version, click on the three dots next to the song name and select Add to playlist .
- Either create a new playlist or add a song to an existing one. The choice is entirely yours.

- Either create a new playlist or add a track to an existing one.

Possible problems and their solutions
Users often encounter broken links in playlists, especially free ones. As a rule, after about 30 days, many channels in them cease to be active. In this case, you should open the file in an editor (Notepad), forcefully delete unnecessary entries and everything connected with them.
If the sequence of actions in creating a playlist is violated, or the line #EXTM3U is skipped, playback will also not start. In this case, you should carefully check all records and make corrections. The need to use UTF-8 encoding is often mentioned (set in the settings of the “Save As” menu of the text editor). If this condition is met, the playlist is guaranteed to launch on a PC, an Android console, and a smartphone.
Create playlists on SoundCloud
SoundCloud is one of the few websites where I have my own playlists, and I have found the platform to be one of the easiest to create playlists and organize music tracks.
- Go to SoundCloud and sign in to your account if you don't already have one.
- Select the music track you want to add to your playlist and be taken to your custom page.
- When you are there, click on the button that says More and select Add to playlist .
