Selecting and repairing a Philips TV remote control is not an easy task if you don’t know what exactly to follow. After all, you need to take into account the features of different TV models from this manufacturer. True, you can turn to the services of universal remote controls. But then, you need to find out the code for your TV.
Codes for universal remote control
The list of codes used to pair the universal remote control with various brands of TVs is quite large, it contains more than a hundred items. All of them can be found either in the instructions for the device itself, or on the World Wide Web. To connect to Philips products, code 2195 is used. But, in some cases, it would be a good idea to refer to the product instructions to find out possible additional features for setting up a particular universal remote control.

Malfunctions and their elimination
The TV remote control belongs to that category of equipment that exhibits certain malfunctions quite often. Most often, this is due to mechanical damage. After all, it is often dropped, which is why its integrity is compromised, even to the point of losing individual buttons.
In addition to mechanical stress, remote controls from even the most well-known manufacturers experience various internal breakdowns or are found to be incompatible with the TV device. Philips products are no exception.
Most often, consumers have to deal with the following problems with the operation of remote controls:
- the TV does not respond to the signal if the product is some distance away;
- some buttons do not function;
- To ensure functionality and restore pairing, you constantly have to resort to a reboot procedure;
- buttons do not function as they are supposed to;
- keys stick;
- food is insufficient for work;
- remote control - defective;
- The TV sensor is faulty.
It is these faults that cause inconvenience to most consumers.
There are ways to check that the remote control is working properly by checking to see if there is an infrared signal and if there is power. Thus, the presence of an infrared ray can be noticed using a digital photo or video camera. The one built into the smartphone is also suitable for this. When you point the remote control at the smartphone and press a button, a white light should appear on its tap. As for the batteries, it is enough to insert them into another, obviously working product.
Important! It will not be possible to check the presence of an infrared signal using technology made by Apple - it has a special filter built into it.

It is worth noting that it is possible to control a Philips TV even if the remote control is not working. You just need to install the Android TV Remote application either on your smartphone or tablet.
The procedure for correctly installing the application and pairing it with TV is as follows:

- download it to a smart device;
- connect the application to the TV by selecting the desired model from the list that appears;

In particular, this must be done while the warranty is valid, otherwise tampering with the device may lead to its loss. In order for the request to the service to be successful, a number of preliminary steps are taken, preparing basic information:
- about the Philips TV model;
- model number;
- product serial number;
- date of purchase.
If repair is impossible, the service department will replace the remote control.
Philips TV remote settings
The remote control and Philips TV cannot interact without pairing them. The consequence of this action will be the inability to control another smart TV using the paired device. Initial pairing occurs after the user presses the “OK” button on the remote control during installation of the TV.
It is worth considering that one Philips TV can retain the memory of pairing five products. Each product is paired separately. At the same time, a big role is played by whether the new remote control is paired with another TV or not.
In the first case, to connect to a smart TV, the remote control is placed at a distance of up to ten centimeters from the manufacturer’s logo. Once this is done, press two buttons - blue and red. It is imperative to do this at the same time. A corresponding message will indicate the success of the operation.
In the second case, when the device has not yet communicated with any TV, it is again placed at the same distance from the Philips logo, but the “OK” button is pressed. Immediately after this, a message indicating the successful completion of the operation should be displayed.
Linking the remote control to a TV device solves many problems that users experience when using Philips products.
Universal remote
Before answering the question of how to set up a universal remote control, you need to insert batteries into it.
The procedure for inserting batteries into any remote control product is quite simple and consists of only three steps:
- First of all, remove the cover from the battery compartment.
- Then, according to the diagram, two pre-purchased AA batteries are inserted into the compartment or the back of its lid. Overcharged AA batteries are not suitable for use with this type of device.
- Reinstall the cover.
This remote control is quite easy to repair.
After the batteries are installed, begin programming the remote control device. Without this procedure, the universal remote cannot be used with a TV device of a specific brand, in this case Philips. The latter code is entered either manually or found using scanning.
Attention! It is worth considering that after waiting for half a minute, the universal remote control exits the programming mode. To return all values to the “default” mode, I press any button, except for the digital channel designations, as well as CH- and CH+.
The procedure for manually entering the TV code is quite simple:
- turn on the smart TV and point the remote control at it;
- press the OK and TV buttons and hold them down at the same time for a couple of seconds - all this time the device buttons will light up;
- as soon as only the buttons indicating the channel numbers start to light, enter the TV code;
- after that, to save the code, press the TV button and exit the programming mode.
To indicate that any action is completely correct, all buttons on the device flash triple.
Finding the TV code is quite simple. To do this you need:
- turn on the television device and point the remote control in its direction;
- simultaneously press and hold the TV and OK buttons on the latter for a couple of seconds;
- when pressed, all buttons will flash first, and then only numeric ones;
- press any of the CH+ or CH– buttons to send a shutdown command, doing this until the device turns off;
- the product accepts the TV code;
- Press the TV button to save the received code and exit and program mode.
Each correct command entry is accompanied by triple flashing of all buttons on the television device.
Attention! If the remote control does not function correctly after setting the TV code, try another code from the same manufacturer or search for a different code.
At the next stage, enter the code of the television device. It is usually contained in the manual for the equipment or on the website of its manufacturer. Enter it using the remote control and repeating most of the steps of the previous procedure. The only exception is that after the buttons start flashing, the code itself is entered.
Instead of one code, in some cases a sequence of them is sent. Typically, this option is used when the current set of numbers is not known for certain. Until the moment when the buttons on the remote control begin to blink, the procedure looks like in the previous cases. But, this time, instead of entering a specific number sequence, the Channel Up/Down button is pressed. It sends a shutdown signal. They continue to do this until the TV turns off. At the end, as in the cases described above, press the TV button to save the code.
Important! When pressing Channel Up/Down, you must give time for the device to respond. This usually takes a few seconds.
Beeline remote control
The Beeline company produces its own universal remote controls that can control both TV of various brands and other gadgets. Setting them up is quite simple:
- you need to turn on the TV;
- press and hold the SETUP button until the indicators flash twice;
- Select the TV button on the panel and press it, pointing at the TV;
- press the OK key and hold until it turns off.
Follow the instructions for repairing the remote control.
From now on, the connection is established.
What you need to do
It is worth noting that there is no significant difference when disassembling devices of different brands, since remote control devices from Samsung, Sony, Philips, LG do not have fundamental differences in design. Most often, remote controls differ only in size, location and design of the button panel.
Next, we will consider the general principle of disassembling the remote control for cleaning. For other purposes, technicians do not recommend disassembling the device yourself: repairs require certain knowledge of the principles of the structure and functioning of microcircuits, which not everyone has.
To avoid any difficulties with the question of how to disassemble the TV remote control, you should prepare:
- small Phillips screwdriver;
- a mild kitchen knife or flat-head screwdriver;
- plastic card.
