It's no secret that the preferences of individual family members vary greatly. And how not to quarrel if the father wants to watch a Russian detective story on satellite TV, and the children want to immerse themselves in the world of Games of Thrones? The answer is quite simple: the family needs an additional console. This can be either a separate independent receiver for a second TV, or a client-server system offered by Tricolor.
Options for watching channels on a second TV
Looking at the ports on the case, the subscriber may come to the conclusion that it is not difficult to connect one Tricolor TV receiver to two TVs. However, the same image will be displayed on both devices. Roughly speaking, everyone watches the same channels.
Therefore, the family needs a second Tricolor receiver, and there is simply no alternative to this solution. Alternatively, the additional attachment can be completely independent. There is a solution in the form of a server receiver to which the client receiver is connected.
Two separate receivers
You can connect a second Tricolor receiver to the dish of the antenna unit, or more precisely, to the convector. In this case, the subscriber will need to select the optimal switching option.
- Replace the convector with a model with two outlets. In this case, you will have to redo all parts of its fastening and the supply of wires to the antenna deflector.
- Install a signal splitter with a cable from the antenna at the input, and points at the output for connecting to set-top boxes.
With this algorithm of actions, the second receiver acts as a completely independent device. Family members in different rooms can easily watch their own channels. The connection diagram for Tricolor TV for 2 TVs with two receivers looks standard for each individual switching area. All cable network conversions are carried out on the antenna unit side.
Important! This course of action has a key disadvantage. If you connect two Tricolor receivers with their own smart cards to one dish, you will have to pay a double subscription fee. This is especially inconvenient if family members have the same tastes for most channels.
Client-server system
The Tricolor company offers a ready-made set of equipment designed for two TVs . It includes an antenna unit with a special convector. It has two outputs. In addition, the first of the receivers connected to one antenna acts as a server. A smart card is inserted into it, and the device performs all identification procedures in the satellite network.
The second Tricolor receiver is connected via an Ethernet cable. The device is dependent. This means that the second Tricolor receiver does not work without the main receiver-server.
Connecting the system to an antenna and TV has its own characteristics. The problem is that the receiver-server has two signal inputs. The subscriber can act in several ways:
- buy a complete set of Tricolor equipment for two TVs;
- purchase only server-client receivers and a new converter for the existing antenna;
- install a signal splitter from one input to two outputs at the output of the existing antenna.
All methods show almost the same effectiveness of use. However, the cost of their implementation is different, as are the requirements for the subscriber’s qualifications. In the first case, he just needs to follow the connection instructions. And in the latter, have skills in working with connectors and knowledge about installing coaxial cable networks.
Possible problems and solutions
Even knowing how to install a second Tricolor TV set-top box, users may have difficulties connecting it. Let's look at the main problems and ways to solve them:
- The tuner does not respond to the remote control. Check the batteries and make sure there are no objects interfering with signal transmission. Alternatively, disconnect the Tricolor receiver from the network for 20-30 seconds, and then connect it again and wait for it to load. If this does not help, take the device to a service center.
- The image crumbles into squares and freezes. Check the signal strength. Please note that in bad weather the quality of the display may deteriorate. Observe the signal quality/strength scales for a few minutes. They must remain stable. If this is not the case, watch channels over the Internet (if possible) or wait until the signal improves.
- After connecting the second Tricolor set-top box, there is no signal, ripples, no image. Check the connection again and search for channels again.
In some cases, resetting the tuner to factory settings may help. To do this, go to Menu, then Settings, About the receiver and Reset to factory settings. At the final stage, press the OK button on the remote control and confirm your decision.
Knowing how to connect two Tricolor set-top boxes to one antenna, you can watch several TVs at the same time. At home, the first option with a splitter is more suitable, allowing you to separate signals into two devices. The only thing is that you will have to buy an additional set-top box, stock up on a separator and a coaxial cable.
Necessary equipment for a second TV
As can be seen from the above options for viewing and organizing a signal distribution network, to connect two TVs you may need:
- a separate receiver with its own smart card for a second device;
- signal splitter into two lines with an operating frequency of up to 2300 MHz;
- client-server system offered by Tricolor;
- antenna unit convector with two outputs.
There may be several options for user actions. This allows you to choose the optimal one that is acceptable in terms of investment and meets the subscriber’s ability to work with hand tools and cable networks.
Connection via converter
Connecting 2 Tricolor TV receivers using a converter will require the same set of tools as in the previous case. But in addition to it, the subscriber will need suitable screwdrivers to remove the old device from the plate and install a new one in its place.
Important! When installing a new converter, its angle of inclination, orientation and location should be observed as accurately as possible. These parameters must match the parameters of the old device.
Work progress
Having installed a new converter on the antenna, you should connect it with cables to the receivers available in the house. The cable preparation is carried out in the same way as in the previous connection option:
- strip the ends;
- bend the braid;
- install F-connectors.
One end of the prepared wire is inserted into the socket on the converter, the second is connected to the LNB IN slot on the receiver. All subsequent set-top boxes are connected in the same way.

Scheme and step-by-step connection algorithm
For any option to connect 2 Tricolor receivers or deploy a client-server system, the user will need skills in crimping a cable onto a standard F-connector. This is done as follows:
- external insulation 10-15 mm long is removed from the cable;
- The braid and foil of the anti-interference screen are carefully bent to the sides;
- the bent cable structural elements are neatly and evenly laid on the insulation surface below the cut;
- a thick layer of insulation is cut off from the central core;
- a connector is put on the cable, and the central core is threaded into a specially designated hole;
- the connector is screwed with force onto the laid braid and screen foil;
- the excess length of the central core is cut off.
The end of the cable prepared in this way can easily be connected to both the ports of the receivers and the connectors of the signal splitter.
2 separate receivers on one antenna
If the subscriber decides to pay two monthly fees and install a pair of separate receivers, the cable network will need to be modified. First, a wire is laid from the second TV to a convenient location on the existing line. The last one is cut. All cable ends are prepared by installing F-connectors.
After this, simple switching is done. The end of the wire from the antenna is screwed onto the input of the splitter. Cables for two TVs are connected to its outputs. This completes the network installation.
Client-server system with wired connection
At the first stage, the head unit is connected to the antenna. The server receiver has two inputs. If you purchased equipment from Tricolor with a special convector, it will be enough to equip the ends of the cables of the required length with connectors and make the switching. In the case when the subscriber wants to use his existing antenna with one output, he will need to install a signal splitter on it. How to do this is described above.
After the connection of the head unit is completed, the client receiver is connected to it. This is done with an Ethernet cable that comes with the equipment. You can buy it separately, of the required length, or make it yourself with the appropriate work skills. To connect the second Tricolor TV receiver to 2 TVs, use a suitable cable, RCA or HDMI.
Client-server system with wireless communication
Many users do not want to bother with laying an Ethernet cable if there is a long distance between the TVs. In addition to damaging the finishing of the premises, fresh renovations, this may require drilling walls and other noisy and dirty work.
The Tricolor company offers a universal solution, the so-called video senders . Two such devices, inserted into the ports of the server and client receivers, will provide a stable high-speed data transfer channel. Setting up video senders is not difficult.
On a note! There are devices on the market from other manufacturers, not just Tricolor. Individual solutions offer different power schemes and permissible distances between signal transmission points.
Independent receiver
Some budget-conscious users find this method more suitable. You can refuse to buy a new device and purchase a used device. A used model will do the job perfectly, and will cost less than new analogues. But there is a nuance here. Such a device will not comply with the latest technological solutions, which is why some channels will be unavailable.
However, buying an old receiver is a good solution for those who only need a small assortment of channels. The option can be considered for the kitchen or children's room. In order to save the family budget as much as possible, this method is best used by existing Tricolor TV subscribers who have at least one receiver that meets the new standards.
Connection
To divide the signal from a satellite dish into separate streams, you will need to buy a divider with 3 connectors. The cable coming from the dish is connected to one, the receivers are connected to the other two. Do not forget about the need for a coaxial wire. Most often it comes complete with a receiver.
Cable preparation
- The copper conductor is exposed at both ends. To do this, carefully cut off the outer shell by about 0.1-0.15 cm.
- It hides a thin film of iron. Damage should be avoided. These fibers are bent back so that they lie along the outer surface of the wire.
- This action will lead to the opening of the foil, which is also laid over the braid in a similar pattern.
- The inner insulating layer is removed so that the central copper core protrudes approximately 1 cm.
- At this point, the F-connector is tightly fixed, and the excess conductor segment is cut off. Only 0.2 cm remains.
- A similar procedure is performed on the opposite side of the cable.
Connecting a satellite divider (splitter)
- The segment of the antenna cable where the branching will be made is selected and cut at this point.
- The F-connector is screwed onto the cut.
- The antenna wire is inserted into the divider from the side of one output (refer to the “IN” marking).
- A coaxial cable is laid from the additional receiver to the connection point.
- The cable is inserted into one of the outputs marked “OUT”. On the opposite side, it connects to the receiver connector marked “IN”.
- The same procedure is done with the cable line from the first set-top box.
- The connection is complete.
Setting up a second receiver to watch channels
To set up a second Tricolor TV receiver in a client-server system, you first need to establish a connection with the head unit. The algorithm of actions looks like this:
- A smart card is installed in the server receiver and the device is turned on;
- after pressing the Menu button, you need to go to the Network section;
- select Settings;
- set the connection type. You should select Link Local if the devices are connected directly by cable, DHCP if you are using a router;
- activate the “Enable server” switch.
After this, turn on the client receiver and perform the same actions in the network settings. If the connection is successful, “Connected” will appear on both devices. Setting up channels on receivers is done using standard methods.
Setup instructions
Regardless of the installation method, after its completion the client will have to configure the set-top boxes. In this case, setup operations will be required not only for the new, but also for the old receiver. As a result of changing the connection type, the previously specified options may be lost. Although sometimes all the necessary settings are already installed on the new receiver - in this case, when turned on, the subscriber will immediately see a list of available TV channels.
But even if the options are confused or were not specified by the manufacturer, it’s okay. As a rule, setup takes no more than 15 minutes.
Connecting Tricolor TV to 2 TVs with your own hands: video instructions
In addition to the indicated options for viewing programs on several devices, the provider offers to use the “Multiscreen” option. It makes it possible to watch television on any device that can connect to the Internet. The main thing is to be able to access the network and set the correct connection parameters.
If the user needs to establish a connection through the receiver, he should additionally watch the detailed video instructions. It will examine in detail all the main nuances and features of installing equipment and setting up broadcast reception on several devices that are completely independent of each other.
Divider installation
There is an option to use a splitter or splitter. These parts divide the signal from the antenna into 2.
This branching option has screw sockets. One end of the cable is stripped, inserted into the nut, the second with a similar plug is connected to the TV. There is a special hole in the splitter screw socket for the central antenna cable. You need to insert the end of the cable there, tighten the nut, and press the copper sheath tightly against the body of the device.
The procedure for connecting a satellite dish to two TVs is different for each model.
Instructions
Purchase a special cable of appropriate length, as well as a splitter with two outputs. The image quality will depend on the cable.
If one TV is already connected to the antenna, then the end of the cable must be removed from the TV and inserted into the output port on the separator, tightening the nut tightly.
Cut off a small end of the cable from the common skein, put standard plugs (heads) on the ends, and clamp them.
In the same way, connect the plugs to the large (remaining) piece of cable that will be used to connect the channel splitter and the second TV.
Plug all the plugs into the corresponding connectors on the body of the splinter and the TV.
Hide the cable that goes to the second TV under the baseboard or somewhere else so that it does not get underfoot. If possible, it is better to drill into the wall to run the cable to the second TV. This will make it possible to use a shorter cable length.
After connecting the antenna to two TVs, check the image quality on both receivers. If the quality is not very good, then check the fastening of all plugs at the ends of the cable and tighten them tighter.
Settings
- Press the menu button.
- Determine the desired source for the signal, select it.
- In the selected source, mark the connector to which the TV is connected.
- Start searching for programs.
- After completing the search, remove from the general list those channels that do not have a clear image.
Why doesn't the second receiver work?
A situation may arise that after carefully and correctly connecting the second receiver, it does not work. In this case, it will be enough to simply check whether everything is connected correctly. And if there are no doubts, then all that remains is to contact the contact specialist at the nearest company store.
The master will be able to solve any issues and correct the situation.
Therefore, we suggest that at first you simply use the available recommendations and organize a full-fledged room at home for watching broadcasts on different TVs.
How to set up a second screen for company subscribers?
In order to connect a second Tricolor receiver, the user needs to correctly connect the satellite antenna to the receiver, and use the loop output to connect second equipment to this antenna.
This method may seem quite simple at first glance. But in practice everything is a little more complicated. So, for a high-quality signal to arrive, it is necessary that the first receiver be connected to power.
To receive a high-quality signal, it will be necessary to remove all obstacles that are placed between the satellite and the attached antenna.
Features of a receiver with two tuners
Connecting new types of receivers will give users the opportunity to expand the options for using the equipment. Each device, in addition to the standard interface, has built-in functions such as:
- service manage the air;
- subtitles;
- the ability to create lists of favorite channels;
- the ability to watch videos and photos from third-party sources (for example, from a USB drive);
- the ability to customize the user interface;
- a set of gaming applications.
