Preparing for the update
Before starting the update, a number of procedures should be carried out that will keep the TV intact, otherwise the user risks being left with an updated module, but a non-working TV.
- First of all, you need to check the correctness of the software version, and for this the following steps are taken:
- Select “DRE Info” in the menu;
- Next, click on the “Module” line;
- Wait until the necessary information appears on the monitor.
- Preparation of receiving equipment:

Concept of CAM module
The development of the digital signal has led to more and more TV manufacturers creating models with advanced functions than previous ones. Thus, many TVs produced in 2018-2019 have an interface called Common, which is designed for installing the CAM module. This is a compact device that decodes the incoming digital stream and is a complete replacement for a digital set-top box.
Important! The presence of such a built-in device in the TV is convenient: there is no need to buy external digital tuners and organize a wired connection. The amount of equipment is reduced to a minimum.
For normal operation of the CI module in the TV, you will need a special Smart card, which is purchased from your service provider. The card provides access to encrypted channels of the selected television provider. It is placed in a CAM module, which is then installed in the TV through the CI slot.
What is included
The Tricolor TV company provides a choice of several sets of equipment for smart and regular TVs. Most include receivers, but some also have a CAM module. This set includes:
- Tricolor CAM module, compatible with television receivers that support the DVB-S2 satellite digital television standard;
- Tricolor smart card for TV;
- Satellite dish;
- Satellite circular converter.
It is not necessary to take a ready-made set of equipment. It is important to purchase only a smart card from the selected service provider and enter into an appropriate agreement. How to insert the module correctly
To receive a high-quality digital signal, you need to correctly install the equipment in the TV. The connection is made at several points and depends on the model.
For example, on a Samsung TV, installation is carried out through a special Common Interface slot located on the side of the TV.
- First of all, the Smart card is placed in the CAM module. Check that the card is installed correctly - the metal contact is directed towards the front of the module.
- The device is then placed in the Common Interface slot.
Other models not equipped with a CI slot will require the use of a separate CI adapter that mounts in the rear. In this case, they act a little differently.
- On the back panel you need to find a sticker that says Common Interface.
- The adapter is installed so that its legs fit into the appropriate holes.
- When pressing on the device, it will connect to the connector. Be sure to check that the installation is correct and tight; the adapter should not be loose.
- A Smart card is placed in the module itself. The structure is inserted into the adapter, checking that everything is tightly secured and not loose.
Important! A specific adapter is included with the TV. If it breaks or is lost, you can contact a specialized center and purchase a new one to replace it.
If all steps are performed correctly, the signal will be sent to the TV. If the message “ci module is missing” appears, this means that some error has occurred that interferes with the transmission and playback of the digital signal.
On December 4, 2021, new software for conditional access modules Conditional Access Module CI+ was launched.
The main change is the return of automatic channel search.
The search will work correctly if you use the search through the module menu.

- 1.0.0 (r7516-r7467),
- 1.1.0 (r7940-r7748).
How to find out the current software version:
In the menu of the module itself, in the section “Information” -> “Module” -> “Tricolor TV CI+ CAM” under the line “Software version”.
Depending on the hardware version of the module, after the update is completed, the module software version will change to 1.2.0 (r8166-r8116) or 1.2.0 (r8168-r8146).
Important!
Do not under any circumstances remove the module or turn off the power to the TV until the update procedure is complete. Otherwise, equipment failure may occur.
Software update algorithm:
1.Make sure that pop-up messages are enabled in the module settings.
To do this, enter the module menu:
Select “Settings” -> “Pop-up window”.
If the “Current Status” line indicates “Activated/Enabled,” then proceed to step 2.
Otherwise, press "OK" on the remote control and activate pop-up messages. After this, return from the module menu to channel viewing mode.
2. Switch the TV to channel number 333.
3. Within a few minutes, a message will appear on the TV screen indicating the need to update the module software. Confirm your consent to start the update by pressing the “OK” button on the remote control
4. Next, the module software will begin updating, and service messages will be displayed on the TV screen indicating the progress of the various stages of the update.
5. Upon completion of the module software update, a message will be displayed on the TV screen asking you to search for Tricolor TV channels. To search for channels, select the “YES” option and press “OK” on the remote control.
6. The search for Tricolor TV channels will begin, and you will see a service message about the need to select a broadcast region. Select the region based on where you live and press “OK” on the remote control. Next, service messages will be displayed on the screen about the search for channels using the specified parameters. To save the found channel list, press the “OK” button on the remote control.
7. After completing the update, be sure to check that the software version number has changed. To do this, go to the menu of the module itself and in the “Information” -> “Module” -> “Tricolor TV” CI+ CAM” section under the “Software version” line, check the software version.
Important. The update was successful if the module software version 1.2.0 (r8166-r8116) or 1.2.0 (r8168-r8146) is displayed.
