The first multiplex does not work, but the second one does: reasons, what to do?

Paradoxically, the country’s main channel is associated with a huge number of complaints about poor-quality “pictures”. Moreover, as a rule, claims come from owners of expensive and widescreen 4K TVs. Why does this happen and how can the situation be corrected?

Despite the fact that online it has long been possible to watch most of the top-rated programs, such as Men's and Women's First Channel , Evening Urgant, Let's Get Married, both recorded and live, most viewers of the first button use the old fashioned way for this TV. If the image leaves much to be desired, is constantly distorted or is not saturated enough, then you can try changing some of the settings in it.

On each TV model, these settings are performed in different ways. As an example, we use LG TV with the WebOS operating system

Transition order

Digital television means high quality image and sound, multi-channel and ease of equipment setup. The transition to digital broadcasting will finally be completed in 2021. In order for the channels to be broadcast, an agreement is concluded, where the housing company acts as an intermediary. The subscriber will have access to a basic tariff, which includes federal and several regional channels.

Description and connection diagram

If, after turning on the TV, a video appears on the screen with instructions for connecting digital television, then you need to follow all the prescribed steps. The absence of this certificate may indicate the following:

  1. The subscriber has already initially connected to digital television, but only through satellite or cable broadcasting.
  2. There is analog TV with automatic transition to a new broadcast format. This happens if the TV and antenna supported this feature.

You can connect digital broadcasting to your television receiver via a shared antenna using a cable. If the TV is modern, then the cable needs to be connected directly into it. If the equipment operates from a set-top box, then the antenna cable is connected to the receiver socket.

Will the channels work if I set them up myself?

The setup scheme in the TV receiver menu is simple and does not cause difficulties. But different devices provide their own individual settings. To solve the problem that the channels do not show, you need to find the instructions for the TV and follow all the prescribed steps. Or you can use the auto-install function. This will be enough to establish signal reception from the antenna.

For digital channels to appear, you must use the automatic tuning feature. You need to go to the TV menu and select auto search. You cannot turn off the TV until all channels have been found.

You can use manual configuration:

  1. Using the remote control, go to the menu and select the “Broadcast” section.
  2. Proceed to manual configuration.
  3. A window will open where you will need to select the settings for digital channels. Click the “Create” button.
  4. A window will open. In it you need to enter the channel number and its frequency. You select the frequency on the CETV map.
  5. Click search.

How to set up channels correctly

Incorrect configuration is often the main reason why channels are not detected. How to set up channels:

  1. Having connected the equipment - antenna, set-top box and Wi-Fi adapter if necessary, turn on the TV and select the connection type.
  2. Open Settings and find Broadcast.
  3. Click on "Auto Configuration" and "Start".
  4. In the next window, select the cable as the antenna; next to “Channel Type”, select digital and analog TV, which will allow you to search for all types at once. Next to the mode, select “Full”.
  5. Click on the “Scan” button - this will start the search.

The described instructions are suitable not only for Samsung TVs. It can be used when setting up any TV. The only difference is the different names of the menu items.

Other problems when setting up TV, their causes and solutions

A number of problems are associated with incorrect connections or errors when setting up the equipment.

Digital set-top boxes and TVs of the DVB-T standard do not receive the DVB-T2 signal, so before connecting you need to make sure that the broadcast standard is correct.

First of all, you need to check that the devices are connected correctly:

  • The set-top box is connected to the TV using an HDMI cable or tulip plugs:
      yellow - to video output (VIDEO Y connector);
  • red and white - to audio outputs (AUDIO L and R connectors, respectively).
  • The antenna cable is connected to the antenna input of the digital set-top box.
  • The set-top box must be connected to the power supply, i.e. to the socket.

Important! Connecting the set-top box to the TV with an HDMI cable gives better picture quality.

  • Registration

  1. To synchronize the operation of the TV and set-top box, in the “Select a signal source” menu (Source or A/V button on the control panel), select the appropriate input: HDMI or AV (this can also be SCART, etc.).
  2. Next, you can perform an automatic or manual search for digital television programs.

The lack of picture and sound may be caused by errors:

  • connectors are mixed up;
  • the input signal source is incorrectly selected;
  • "insensitive" auto search.

The set-top box does not work, it says “no TV signal”

If the TV says “no signal” and there is no image on the TV screen, you need to make sure that the set-top box is connected to the mains and the correct video input is selected.

Out of ignorance, many users cannot distinguish between a switched-on set-top box and a switched-off one. For operation, the indicator light on the front panel of the device must change color from red to green.

On the other hand, lack of signal may be a sign of a faulty antenna or amplifier.

What's the matter if the TV doesn't pick up all the over-the-air channels?

Most often, this problem is typical for setting up the TV using auto search. Due to a weak signal, the “system” may skip channels. To prevent this, it is advisable to use manual settings: enter the channel number, frequency and broadcast range yourself.

What does "no services" mean?

The message “No services” is a sure sign of a weak signal. To verify this, it is enough to conduct a manual search. As a rule, manual tuning allows you to see the level of the transmitted signal, even if it is very weak.

Most likely, a more powerful antenna will be required, or at least a change in its location.

Attention! Often the signal quality is hampered by the “neighborhood” of the antenna and set-top box with switched on equipment: a smartphone, computer or tablet.

The set-top box found only 10 or fewer channels

This problem may be related to the characteristics of digital broadcasting and where the signal from such television comes from. In Russia, digital television is divided into packages - multiplexes:

  • Scales when tuning tricolor

  1. RTRS-1. This includes 10 channels with information, news and entertainment content. They are public, mandatory and free. The first multiplex works everywhere, because it is transmitted by any TV tower.
  2. RTRS-2 includes 10 more free channels, mainly entertainment. They are also publicly available and obligatory, but are transmitted by different towers and on a different frequency.
  3. The third multiplex is designed for broadcasting regional channels. In practice, as of 2021, it is only available in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. The remaining regions have local television broadcasts on federal channels.
  4. Digital non-terrestrial television includes cable, satellite and IP television. A provider is required to connect these channels.

Thus, if only 10 free channels are available on the TV, it means that the set-top box was only able to catch the first multiplex. Problems with setting up the second package may include:

  • in the antenna;
  • in setting up a digital signal.

When choosing an antenna, take into account the distance from the TV tower:

  • For a radius of 1-2 km, a regular indoor antenna is sufficient.
  • A distance of up to 20-30 km requires an antenna with a signal amplifier.
  • An external antenna with an amplifier can receive a signal at a distance of 30-70 km.

If the auto search has configured only one (or no) multiplex, manual tuning with a given frequency is necessary.

Reference! The CETV interactive map, located at: map.rtrs.rf, will help you find the frequency. Here you need to enter your location or the nearest town, the system will indicate whether the RTRS-1 and RTRS-2 multiplexes are available. Next, by clicking on the TV tower icon, you can find out the frequency and broadcast zone.

Possible causes and their elimination

External factors

The most likely explanation for a TV with a digital set-top box freezing is the effect of external factors.

These include:

  • weather. The earth's atmosphere is transparent to satellite signals. However, during heavy clouds and thunderstorms, signals from satellites may be distorted. The same applies to terrestrial TV transmitted from a repeater;
  • technical problems on the transmitting side;
  • scheduled maintenance work at the station - manifests itself as a complete disappearance of the signal.

How to check external factors

Diagnosis of external causes is carried out as follows:

  • if the malfunction is caused by a breakdown of the repeater or a failure at the transmitting station, it makes sense to ask neighbors who use the same type of television if they have problems;
  • click on the channels. If some are caught well and others are not, then the problems are definitely external. But at the same time, the channels must be of the same type;
  • wait for the weather to change. If reception improves, then rain or cloudiness is to blame.

What to do if external problems are detected?

  1. If the weather interferes with television reception, you should more accurately adjust the antenna to the repeater or satellite. This will help achieve a slight increase in the received signal power.
  2. If the settings do not have an effect, you should consider purchasing a signal amplifier or a more sensitive digital tuner.
  3. If there is still no effect, you should think about changing the operator (for example, switch to cable TV or buy a satellite dish with a decoder).

In general, external problems are among the most common and difficult to solve: it is impossible to change the weather or repair transmission equipment yourself.

Hardware problems

Also, the reason why the image freezes on a particular TV may be a malfunction or poor configuration of the user’s equipment.

Here the problems can be of the following types:

  • with antenna;
  • with coaxial cable;
  • with attachment;
  • with connection to TV;
  • with TV receiver.

The most common antenna problems:

  • Wrong type. To receive digital TV, you need one that operates in the UHF range, and not in the HF range, as for analogue broadcasting.
  • Incorrect orientation. Almost all UHF television antennas are very sensitive to direction. The pins or loops of the resonators must be across the wave, and the central rod, accordingly, is very precisely aimed at the repeater. If we are talking about a satellite parabolic antenna, then ideally its axis should point clearly at a specific satellite with a deviation of no more than a degree.
  • The antenna is obscured by an obstacle. Hills, permanent buildings, iron roofs - all this interferes with signal reception.

Antenna cable problems:

  • The resistance is too high and, as a result, the signal attenuates.
  • Parasitic interference. In this case, the cable begins to act as an additional antenna that receives the wrong channel, and as a result, chaos reigns in the output signal.
  • The cable is broken or its contact with the antenna is broken.
  • The plug is broken and the connection to the decoder or TV is poor (if the built-in tuner is used).

Problems with the console:

  • The channel settings are lost. This often happens during an emergency shutdown (for example, if the set-top box was deprived of power not normally, but simply by cutting off the electricity;
  • Software is outdated. This applies more to satellite receivers;
  • The attachment is out of order.

Problems with the cable connecting the external tuner and the TV:

  • the wire is too long and, as a result, has excessive resistance;
  • The cable is not connected correctly (for example, the plug carrying the audio is not plugged in).

TV problems:

  • settings are lost;
  • a breakdown occurred.

How to check all hardware problems

Since there are many types of equipment failures, there is no single solution. But there are a number of steps that will help you figure out why the freeze appeared and fix it.

Attention: some steps require skills and additional equipment.

So what should you do?

  1. Change the direction of the antenna, accurately aligning it with the satellite or repeater. You can find out the exact bearing for a given point using the CETV map.
  2. Check the antenna type and replace it if necessary.
  3. If an obstacle interferes with reception, move the antenna to another location, raising it as high as possible. You can understand that this is exactly the case simply by looking in the direction where the antenna is facing: UHF waves propagate in the line of sight zone.
  4. If the problem is that the signal is too weak, connect an amplifier. You can check the reception level using a tuner (in most modern devices, scales of signal strength and quality are available in the settings) or with a multimeter.
  5. If the problem is the cable resistance, it should be replaced with another brand with a copper core and a maximum shielding factor. The situation with parasitic interference is also resolved.
  6. The integrity of the cable is determined by “ringing” it with a multimeter. If a break is detected, the entire wire is replaced.
  7. Loss of contact with the antenna or breakage of the plug is determined visually. In this case, you just need to replace the “plug”.
  8. The broadcast standard with which the set-top box works can be checked with the seller or on the manufacturer’s website. If the equipment is not compatible with DVB, it needs to be changed.
  9. Outdated software for satellite TV can be updated by leaving the receiver turned on on the service channel or using another method recommended by the provider company. We also recommend that you reflash it by downloading the update from the official website and following the instructions there.
  10. Checking the connection of the set-top box to the TV. If there are several outputs (for example, through “>Euro-AV and “>RCA”), you can try another option.
  11. Lost tuner settings can be corrected by searching for channels again in automatic or manual mode.
  12. If the problem is equipment failure, you should contact a repair shop. The average user will not be able to repair a TV or set-top box.

If nothing helps, you need to call a specialist and resolve the issue with him.

Weather conditions and how they affect digital broadcasting

If there is heavy rain or wind outside your window, or even if it’s snowing, don’t be surprised that your TV has stopped showing, this is a completely normal situation for digital television, so don’t immediately run and pull, twist the antenna and get angry at the set-top box, It’s better to calmly wait until the weather is good and continue to enjoy watching your favorite channels. Remember, weather conditions greatly affect the quality of the received signal.

Also, do not forget that DTV, like other electronic equipment, sometimes requires maintenance or other work.

Well, perhaps the last thing, if after all the manipulations you still don’t see the channels, but before that they showed and the weather outside was good, then perhaps your antenna is simply broken. For the most part, signal amplifiers break down most often.

Disable Motion Processing

The processors of new TVs are capable of smoothing out sharp, jerky movements in films or TV series. Clear Motion Rate technology combats this phenomenon by creating extra frames (using interpolation) that are “injected” between video frames for a clearer, smoother image. Sometimes this negatively affects the quality - everything looks very unnatural. Therefore, if you are watching a movie, then turn off motion processing or switch to Movie mode.

The channels on the digital set-top box are missing - what to do?

If the channels from the set-top box suddenly disappear, then perform a complete reconfiguration of the equipment. This applies to both mechanical connections and system presets.

  • There is no signal on tricolor TV. why doesn't it work and what should I do?

Automatic search

The easiest way is to select the auto search mode in the settings. Then within 10-20 minutes the system will save you all available television channels. However, many of them will be encoded or non-working, and you will have to clean the collection manually.

Manual search

The manual configuration option is more reliable, but requires filling out forms. You set the frequency, speed and satellite. These parameters are individual, check them with your communication provider.

The entire package of channels on the digital set-top box has disappeared

The situation is more complicated when at a certain moment the entire set of TV channels disappeared. The TV may display different messages, such as No Signal. The question arises, how to return channels to the set-top box, and what could be the reasons for this situation. Take the following steps:

  • Perform manual or automatic setup. To get started, run the search again and try to restore the list using manual or automatic mode. The digital tuner settings may have gone wrong due to a power surge or internal problems.
  • Increase the antenna power or change its position. Sometimes due to bad weather conditions the antenna moves. You notice that first the first and then the second channel disappeared. In the future, they may disappear all at once. If the problem occurs during a thunderstorm, snow or rain, you do not need to do anything. If the fault remains after the weather conditions return to normal, check the integrity of the cable and the correct location of the antenna. To evaluate the signal, press the i (INFO) icon on the remote control and look at the level. If it is too low, make an adjustment and set the power to minimum.

Check that the equipment is working properly. When looking for answers to the question of where the TV channels disappeared, you cannot rule out a malfunction of the equipment - a digital set-top box or TV. Make sure that the equipment is plugged in and that all indicators on the front panel are lit. In the case of a tuner, the power supply may be faulty. If it is external, try changing it. If this does not work, contact service. Inspect the cable for integrity. The digital signal may have been lost due to damage.

If you've lost channels on your digital set-top box, you need to know how to tune them in

Pay attention to their number. If only one or two broadcasts have disappeared, the reason may be a data failure, technical work on the provider’s side, or lack of payment (for pay digital television)

In a situation where channels are lost in batches or completely, there may be more explanations, ranging from cable damage to equipment malfunction.

Why is there no signal on digital television?

Bad weather conditions

Quite often the cause of a poor signal is bad weather, for example a storm or thunderstorm. It is because of this that the signal that goes to the set-top box becomes very weak. Also, electrical discharges that occur during a thunderstorm prevent the television signal from passing from the antenna to the set-top box.

Usually in this situation the channels are displayed, but constant freezes and interference prevent you from fully watching TV. Also, the set-top box may not detect a certain signal or all available channels.

Unstable signal

Also, digital television may stop functioning properly due to an unstable signal. Typically, the signal may be unstable due to the following reasons:

  • An old antenna is being used. Even though it could provide a stable signal for a long time, at some point it could fail. In such a situation, you may need to purchase a new antenna;
  • A low-quality or old cable is used. The wire also has a very strong influence on the quality of the transmitted image. If there is some damage on it, the signal may also be unstable. It is also recommended to replace it;
  • An antenna with an amplifier is installed. If the tower is installed at a distance of less than 30 kilometers, the antenna will overpower the signal, and therefore the image may also disappear. This situation can be corrected simply by turning off the amplifier;
  • Incorrectly configured antenna. In this case, this also leads to an unstable signal, due to which digital television may not work.

Termination of broadcast

There are cases when the set-top box displays only half of the channels from the purchased complex, despite the fact that literally all the channels were displayed for several days without any problems. If such a situation occurs, you must also check the level of the television signal. If it is equal to zero, then with a high probability the second half of the complex is disabled.

The first half of the package, which is 10 channels, is displayed correctly in Russia almost everywhere, since it is mandatory. But with the second package, various problems often arise due to lack of funding. In addition, analogue television is still heavily used in certain regions, which leads to a shortage of frequencies.

Repair work on the line

Quite often, there is no signal on digital television due to restoration or repair work at the company’s service. As a rule, they are carried out after weather incidents or accidents on the line.

As noted above, there may be no signal on digital television due to accidents that occur for various reasons. For example, a technical malfunction as a result of adverse weather conditions. In such a situation, the television broadcast will stop, and a notification about the lack of signal will be displayed on the device screen.

Reset

Another reason why channels could disappear is an unplanned factory reset. As a rule, this happens as a result of sudden changes or certain technical problems in the operation of the device. The settings that the user has set are erased and must be entered again. You can do this by going to the settings menu and checking that the received signal is correct, then you need to restart the search for television channels.

Equipment malfunction

If the signal disappears, then there is a possibility that there is a certain malfunction in the equipment. Namely:

  • Breakdown of the console;
  • Antenna failure;
  • Cable faults.

If the failure occurred specifically in the receiver, then when turned on, the indicators on it will not light up, indicating that the equipment has started operating. Sometimes the indicator may light up, but very dimly.

Most models of set-top boxes have a built-in power supply with a power of 5 V. Also, set-top boxes are often equipped with a standard adapter, so you can very easily check the level of its performance by connecting a similar component from the router. Also, sometimes the device may overload, turn off on its own, or not respond to commands from the remote control.

It should be noted that the user should pay special attention to the white wire, which is called RG-6. It is designed for internal installation

Often, this wire has a short service life and can fail, which leads to malfunctions throughout the entire system.

What to do if digital TV shows poorly, with interference

Check which channels should be broadcast in your region

The quality of reception is greatly influenced by the equipment (TV, antenna, amplifier, etc.), the terrain and the location of the house relative to the broadcast tower. If your house is located in the middle of a forest (relatively speaking) and the TV tower is very far from you, then, alas, you shouldn’t expect good reception (as before)...

  • What to do if the TV does not show well on the antenna

In general, to begin with, what I recommend doing is to check on the official website https://rtrs.ru/ which of the digital TV channels are available in your area. Usually these are 2 digital packages RTRS-1 and RTRS-2, which include 20 free channels: First, Russia, Match!, NTV, 5th, TVC, Zvezda, Spas, TV3, TNT, Zvezda, Friday!, Muz- TV, etc. (see screenshot below).

What channels are shown in my area

In addition, on the same site you can view coverage areas and broadcast frequencies specifically for your region. Despite the fact that in June 2021 Almost the entire country should switch to digital broadcasting - there are still corners where this is not the case...

What's with the cable and plug?

The cable has a very strong influence on the transmission of the received signal by the antenna. And for many people, his condition leaves much to be desired, not even the best (but the best?).

In general, if you encounter any interference when setting up digital TV, be sure to check the condition of the cable and plug. Are there any twists on it, is it intact at all (sometimes pets chew it up).

  • Why does a 4k TV show analogue channels poorly?

Twisting the cable...

In addition, try to avoid various doubles, tees, etc. Ideally, for good reception, you should have a solid cable running from the antenna to the TV without any twists. If it is necessary (for example, it is not possible to replace the cable with a new one), then it is better to purchase a special one for this purpose. F-socket. (more details about correct cable connection).

Pay attention to the antenna

The biggest influence (besides your location) on signal reception is the antenna (and its placement, but more on that next point). As a rule, if your TV tuner (receiver, TV) came with an antenna, it is small and weak: it can provide normal reception if you are no further than 10-15 km from the television tower (and there are no antennas in front of your house). then serious obstacles).

Antenna from a TV tuner (example)

That is why I would recommend abandoning such an antenna (see example in the photo above). Even a homemade antenna made from old aluminum cans can provide much better reception.

An example of a homemade antenna made from aluminum cans

If such conventional antennas do not receive the signal well, I recommend paying attention to outdoor antennas with an active amplifier (for DVB-T2). Why exactly this? The fact is that indoor antennas receive signals much worse than outdoor ones (especially when it comes to a country house). Well, active amplification will significantly improve the received signal (note that there are also passive amplifiers - they are usually somewhat weaker).

  • How to connect to a TV and set up a digital set-top box for all channels

Antenna - external with amplifier

A few words about the antenna location

The quality of the received signal can vary greatly depending on the antenna placement. Even weak indoor antennas in one place of your apartment can catch a signal, but not in another.

We can recommend trying to connect the antenna to the TV, and then experiment with its location: first place it near the window in one room, then in another, etc.

Of course, using an external antenna will significantly improve the reception level. Moreover, pay attention to one point: installing the antenna 2-3 meters higher than the level of trees and buildings in the immediate surroundings can give amazing results!

Antenna on the roof of the cottage

Weak signal due to bad weather...

If there is heavy rain outside the window, thunderstorm, blizzard, etc. and so on. - all this can affect the reception of terrestrial DVB-T2 television. At this time, the broadcast is usually jerky and intermittent (and nothing can be done about it).

Storm…

By the way, in the case of ordinary classic television, when the signal deteriorated, the picture was distorted (red horizontal stripes appeared), but it was still watchable. With digital television: when the signal level decreases, it becomes impossible to watch the broadcast?... And in this regard, I don’t understand what the advantage of the new broadcast format is...

Difference in picture between analogue and digital broadcasting

You can connect cable TV

If all of the above does not help, then as an option you can connect either cable TV or install a satellite dish. Whether you live in a city or a rural area, one of the connection options will almost certainly be available.

By the way, it should be noted that the cost of such equipment has decreased significantly compared to what it was 10-15 years ago. Moreover, now some companies provide equipment for free, provided that you use it for 2-3 years. In general, there are options...

You can watch TV on the Internet

Well, I can’t help but note that with the development of networks in our country, many users have the opportunity to watch TV via the Internet. Moreover, for this it is not at all necessary to be the owner of high-speed Internet access (the main thing is that the connection is stable and not “interrupted”).

I have a separate blog post on how to set all this up, the link to it is below.

Only 10 out of 20 digital channels are shown, how to fix

Watching TV is an opportunity to relax and unwind, see what is happening in the country, enjoy your favorite series or TV show. What should I do if 10 out of 20 channels are missing? Is it possible to solve this problem on your own? Can. Over the past couple of years, the number of complaints from digital subscribers has increased just after the channels were updated on the set-top box and certain positions from multiplexes 1 and 2 disappeared. Therefore, the question of why 10 channels disappeared and what to do if they previously functioned is relevant.

Most likely, the reason for this situation is the difficulty of signal reception associated with technical work or the characteristic features of the “digital” operation. Since only from the beginning of this year a complete transition to digital has been carried out, there is a possibility that the signal is not received as well as needed. Moreover, RTRS notes that at the moment the work has not yet been stabilized, so there are difficulties in certain regions of the country. So the question of why the channels disappeared will be considered relevant for a long time until the signal supply is finally stabilized in different parts of the country.

What to do in such a situation? In order to find missing channels on digital television, you need to search for channels again or reflash the receiver.

Why are 10 channels out of 20 digital television not shown?

If the TV shows only 10 digital channels out of 20, then the main malfunctions occur for the following reasons:

  • bad weather conditions;
  • breakdown of equipment that is necessary for a correct signal;
  • failures on the part of the broadcaster.

Keep in mind that digital television works differently than analogue television. Broadcasting occurs on one frequency. That is, all channels are broadcast simultaneously. If a certain part works and another does not, then it is rational to check the antenna and make sure that it has enough power. Perhaps to eliminate the problem it will be enough to simply install an amplifier.

Please note that failures in the operation of the second multiplex are observed in some regions due to analogue TV. Not everyone has yet managed to disable this method of receiving a signal.

As a result, the outdated signal is superimposed on the new one, preventing it from appearing as a correct image on the screen. Failures of the first multiplex are rare, since it is mandatory for all regions of the Russian Federation.

If the second multiplex does not show, then read about ways to solve the problem below.

Bad weather

Adverse weather conditions often disrupt the signal. Be it a severe thunderstorm, thunder and lightning, or heavy snowfall. To solve the problem, the user must wait this period or connect an amplifier.

As a rule, after weather conditions improve, the channels operate as usual. Therefore, it is rational to do nothing if there is no signal in bad weather, so as not to complicate the situation. After the weather improves, simply check the cable for serviceability and turn on the TV. Inspect the antenna, make sure it is directed towards the tower.

Equipment failure

If the tuner suddenly stops performing its functions, you should not immediately take it to a service center. Try to fix the problem yourself. The weak point of the receiver is the power supply. It may burn due to intensive use of the device. Buying a new one and replacing it will not be difficult.

If you have any questions or complaints, please let us know

A more serious situation is the picture freezing on the screen. If after a long time and rebooting the device the situation has not changed, then you should contact a service center. In most cases, this problem cannot be repaired. You need to either buy a new device, or take it along with the warranty card to a service center for exchange.

The problem is on the broadcaster's side

If the TV that the user is using receives DVD T2 (a special tuner or TV released after 2012 is used), then malfunctions may occur on the part of the broadcaster. Since analogue TV has not yet been completely turned off, its signal may interfere with the signal of the second multiplex. There is also information that they are actively testing a third multiplex, which will provide free use for a fee.

Why doesn't the TV with digital set-top box show?

The main reasons why a digital set-top box does not show:

  • you connected it incorrectly;
  • technical work is being carried out on the servers;
  • there was a failure or disturbance in the signal supply;
  • digital set-top box not registered;
  • the tuner does not fit your TV model;
  • weak signal;
  • problems with the TV - faulty socket, bad cable.

Technological violations or technical work

Typically, such circumstances are beyond the control of users and are resolved by the company supplying the broadcast stream. Technical work concerns both the tower and the transmitter. They are usually scheduled for those days and times when there are fewer spectators.

Incorrect DRE channel encoding

Incorrect DRE channel encoding occurs if the tuner has not been used for a long time, and now they are trying to start it. To resolve this issue, run a new scan. This process takes from five minutes to two hours

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that during scanning you cannot disconnect the set-top box and TV from the mains power.

No digital tuner registration

To make sure that the equipment is included in the unified register and was officially sold to you, go to the developer’s website. If the number is not there, you will have to manually enter it on the site. Then reboot the receiver and continue working with it as usual.

End of subscription to services provided by the provider

If you do not pay for the services consumed on time, the broadcasting stops and a corresponding notification appears on the screen. The solution to this situation is simple: pay for TV broadcasting.

Effect of bad weather on the antenna

Unfavorable weather conditions most often become the reason for refusal to broadcast channels. If you experience strong wind, hail, rain or snowfall, then most likely the network will disappear. In this case, do not move the antenna or try to fix it somewhere on the street. The interference will disappear immediately after the weather stabilizes.

No signal

If the screen says “No Signal” and the channels on the digital set-top box are missing:

  • check the integrity of the wires through which the devices are connected;
  • Make sure the connected TV is shown in the menu.

If everything is ok, reboot the hardware.

Incompatible software

If the software has been updated or has not been updated for too long, it will crash. If you get such an error, then go to the “Restore Channels” section and update your firmware.

Antenna settings failure

Failures are frequent and unexpected. The solution is simple - contact your provider and ask them to send you new settings.

Insufficient antenna power

If the tower is located too far from home, the airtime disappears from time to time. To fix this problem, determine the location of the tower and point the antenna vector there. A special online map will help you determine the location, or look at where your neighbors’ antenna is pointed.

Damage to the console

Signs of malfunction:

  • does not respond to your commands or presses on the remote control;
  • does not show the scoreboard;
  • no signal.

To solve this problem, take the tuner to an instrument service center. Usually in such cases a replacement is required, but repairs can also be done.

Damage to the TV

If the TV is damaged, contact specialized specialists. However, you should not evaluate the condition of the TV only by the visual factor. There are also invisible breakdowns, for example, when the nest fails. In this case, replacement of individual components is required. If you have not done this kind of work before, we do not recommend doing the repairs yourself at home.

How the problem manifests itself

Freezing interferes with viewing and can manifest itself as follows:

  • the picture falls apart. Squares of the wrong color appear on the screen, the contours of figures bifurcate, when changing frames, a piece of the picture may remain from the previous scene;
  • The sound disappears when the image is working;
  • A black screen appears when the audio signal is normal;
  • there is no sound, no picture. Sometimes a message appears from the digital tuner: “No signal.”

Is the picture on your TV falling apart?

One specific channel, a group of them (multiplex) or the entire received range can be inhibited.

The freeze is due to the digital signal transmission technology itself. If you don’t go into depth, it is transmitted like this: information is divided into small portions and “shot” with electromagnetic pulses into the air or cable. The packets are encoded and protected, but for some reason they may be distorted during transmission so that they are either not reproduced at all, or the digital tuner interprets them unsuccessfully.

Automatic and manual search method

When the number of broadcast channels has sharply decreased, you should not immediately call a specialist. Try simple manipulations to return the channels to their place. Here is the algorithm of actions:

Using the remote control, go to the menu section

(Attention: we need the Menu of the TV set-top box, not the TV). Go to the settings tab. We activate the automatic settings window and start searching for programs. At the end of the search, save the changes. If necessary, change the channel arrangement. We test the channels that appear and enjoy watching.. If the result is not achieved and the number of channels is not twenty, go to the manual setup option

If the result is not achieved and the number of channels is not twenty, proceed to the manual configuration option.

There is a preliminary stage at which you need to find out from the service provider:

  • broadcasting frequency of digital channels;
  • broadcast speed;
  • modulation.

Having received the necessary information, we begin the setup procedure in manual mode:

  • The remote control will allow you to enter the main menu.
  • We select manual settings.
  • Drop-down lists will require data obtained in advance from the provider.
  • We start the search and wait for a while.
  • The procedure may have to be repeated several times until all free channels are detected.

How many channels should work

The introduction of digital television broadcasting in Russia began a long time ago. It gradually spread across the regions. However, at the government level it was decided to speed up this process and completely abandon the analogue broadcast of a number of all-Russian channels.

From June 3, 2021, 20 digital TV channels are broadcast in all regions of the country:

  • 1 multiplex (RTRS-1) - 10 channels;
  • 2 multiplex (RTRS-2) - 10 channels.

Each of them is transmitted at its own frequency, and because of this they do not overlap each other and can be separated by a digital tuner - built-in or external (set-top box-receiver).

How many digital channels do you currently have?

1020+

Problem with the first channel on IP-TV (digital television)

If you use digital television set-top boxes, be sure to use the HDMI output to connect to your TV. An outdated RCA connector (“tulips”) is not capable of producing a good picture on the screen. It should be taken into account that when using IP-TV there may be problems with the video stream - because of this, the broadcast may stop, the image may become pixelated, or a black screen may periodically pop up. This can also happen due to low connection speed or instability (packet loss). The only thing that can be recommended in this situation is to register the DNS server on the TV itself (not on the router).

The quality of digital broadcasting is much higher than that of analogue. However, there is a problem that newly connected users face. This is digital television freezing. Why this happens and what to do in such a situation - let's figure it out in order.

If your TV supports digital TV

Then you don't need to panic. In fact, almost all modern LCD and LED TVs that have been on sale since 2015 support the DVB-T2 standard. Even this 15-inch Harper, the cheapest on the entire Yandex.Market, has a built-in tuner that “catch” digital TV:

  • If you're connected to a community antenna in your home, that's where your adventure ends. House antennas on roofs usually have enough power to receive a digital signal, and your TV will pick it up on its own. Just start auto-searching for channels when digital TV reaches your city.
  • The same is true if you have an individual decimeter antenna. For example, outdoor “Thunderstorm” or “Albatross”, or indoor “VVK” or “Delta”. Any Chinese “horns” for 150 rubles, which can receive decimeter waves (UHF) or all types of waves, will catch your “digital”.

How to set up digital channels

Digital broadcasting is supported on TVs with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner. If your TV receiver does not have it, you can buy a new model or purchase a digital set-top box.

Residents of apartment buildings who use terrestrial television services on a TV with a DVB-T2 tuner need to do the following to search for channels:

  1. Make sure the cable is firmly seated in the connector.
  2. Turn on the TV receiver.
  3. Go to settings.
  4. Click on “Autosearch”.
  5. As a search tool, select a cable with a DVB-T2 tuner.

After completing all the steps, the TV receiver will begin to search for available channels. Every resident of the country has access to 20 television programs for free. If you use the services of a terrestrial TV provider, then the total number of channels may exceed the 100 mark.

Those whose TV does not have a built-in DVB-T2 tuner have to additionally buy a digital set-top box. This device is sold in any electronics store, and its average cost is 1.5-4 thousand rubles.

The operating principle of the equipment is as follows:

  1. The set-top box is connected to the antenna using a cable (you can use the equipment of the terrestrial TV provider).
  2. The receiver connects to the network and connects to the TV.
  3. In the TV receiver settings, the user selects the connector to which the set-top box is connected.

This way, a person whose TV does not support DVB-T2 gets the opportunity to watch digital channels. To control the interface, you need to use the remote control from the TV set-top box, and to find channels, you need to perform a few simple steps:

  1. Connect all equipment to the network.
  2. Open the receiver interface using a standard remote control.
  3. Using the console remote control, press the “Menu” button.
  4. Go to device settings.
  5. Select DVB-T2 as the signal type.
  6. Click on the auto search button.

As is the case with a modern TV, after completing the operation, the selection and search of channels will begin. Broadcast service users will need to wait 5-20 minutes depending on the number of programs available. In the future, watching TV must be done through the interface of the set-top box, and not the TV itself.

What other difficulties are there with setting up?

ProblemSolution
No signalClean the antenna. Snow, dust, dirt often stick to it, and fallen leaves also stick to the parabolic antennas.
Poor picture and/or soundCheck that the TV receiver matches the signal quality. Even not very old TVs may not be able to play high-quality programs with multi-channel sound and HD images (plasma especially suffers from the latter). The problem can be solved by setting the receiver to a lower quality or replacing the TV.
Channels are not caught or only part of them is receivedCheck to see if there is any signal in this area. For terrestrial television, check this on the RTRS map. Perhaps there is no broadcast at the receiving point yet.
Previously received channels disappearedCheck the frequencies and TVCs on the RTRS map - they may have changed. If so, perform a manual search again.

Setting up digital channels

Let's imagine that the channels on an LG TV are missing, how to set them up? Remember that, regardless of the manufacturer, there are only two options for getting out of this situation.

Every user can configure channels on a Samsung TV. This process takes about 10 minutes. You can use automatic search or manually configure all channels yourself. The first option is considered more popular, since it minimizes subscriber intervention. In general, often after turning off analogue channels, digital ones disappear and need to be adjusted.

Automatic channel search

Let's look at the most popular method right away. So, you will need a remote control and the TV itself. When all digital channels have disappeared, auto-tuning requires the following manipulations:

On the remote control we need to find a button that will take us to the “Menu”. Please note that this button may change its location on the remote control depending on the manufacturer

To simplify your search, you can use the instructions for the remote control. Then go to the “Settings” section, then to “Automatic settings” and select them. The search begins, it is important to wait until the search is completed, and do not turn off the TV at this time.

If the search is completed without interruption and the signal is normal, the subscriber should receive a minimum of 20 channels. There are situations when, after such a process, almost all TV channels may disappear, or half of the list that was there before the update may remain. Accordingly, in such a situation, an alternative solution is manual configuration.

Manual channel search

Please note that before you begin manually searching for channels, you will need to find out information such as:

  1. The broadcast frequency of channels that are interesting to you, or they were not found during the auto-tuning process.
  2. The speed of the channel, each one that interests you.

Having received such data, you can begin the setup procedure, here you will also need to use the remote control:

  1. Go to “Menu”.
  2. We are looking for “Manual setting”.
  3. Then you will need to enter in the fields all the data that you previously learned from the provider. Be sure to save them.
  4. Activate search.

This process will need to be completed for each channel that you want to find. It happens that it is necessary to make changes to the digital series to improve image quality. This process will take longer than auto-tuning, but you will be able to configure the channel as efficiently as possible. When the problem persists and the TV still does not find and tune in free digital channels, there is a possibility that the cause of the problem is that the signal format does not meet the set-top box standards. It also happens that channels simply go out of television range, in other words, they close down. In this case, no settings or actions will help.
