In the fall of 2014, the operator Tricolor TV launched a unique test channel in ultra-high definition format (4K ULTRA HD). Such a project was made possible thanks to cooperation with the satellite provider Eutelsat Communications (which is not the first joint venture of the partners).
The new channel "Tricolor Ultra HD" broadcast pre-prepared content, including a recording of an opera concert, some programs about the animal world, and high-quality moments from motor sports. At that time, it did not disclose which equipment could receive the improved signal. However, with a greater degree of probability, these were the latest models of receivers (HEVC/H.265 support) from the company’s line, as well as TVs capable of displaying 4K clarity.
Tricolor TV carried out work on testing and optimizing its brainchild back in the summer of 2014. At that time, test broadcasts were conducted behind closed doors, and the signal was not available to ordinary users. During the broadcast, a specialized video was transmitted using the H.264 codec, filmed specifically for the Tricolor ultra HD project. At that moment, the video was played at 25 frames per second, and the stream was 40 Mbps. Much has changed since then.
Chipsets have appeared that allow the use of the H.265 codec, with which the transmitted lossless video was compressed by more than twice as much as the results of encryptors of the previous revision. In addition, many TV models supporting 4K resolution have appeared on the market, which, coupled with the use of new encoding, has provided an unprecedented opportunity to start broadcasting a full-fledged ultra-high definition channel with 60 frames per second and high-quality sound.
How to connect to these channels
The fundamental difference between 4K TV channels and regular ones is the volume of the broadcast image, the brightness and variety of its colors and the clarity of the image of the smallest details in a resolution of 4096*2160 pixels. Now there are about 10 ultra HD channels:

Selecting the location and installation of the antenna
The first step in the process of connecting satellite TV is always choosing a place to mount the dish.
The provider recommends choosing places where:
- there will be no large objects (buildings, tall trees, walls) between the dish and the satellite;
- there are no sources of radio interference in front of the antenna that could affect the quality of the signal (radio towers);
- there are no potential threats to the operation of the equipment (places where water, snow, dirt, fallen leaves accumulate).
Additionally, it is worth considering that it is best to install on the south side of the building. Here the signal from the satellite is more reliable. In addition, it is recommended to take into account the location of the TV and set-top box and avoid using too long a cable.
Preparing to connect the receiver
Once the installation location has been chosen, you can proceed to installing the antenna and finding the correct tilt and azimuth.
