First, let's look at what to do if 10 channels are missing on a digital set-top box. Let us immediately note that from June 3, 2021, two television packages are available in the Russian Federation - RTRS-1 and RTRS-2. In each of them you can watch 10 TV channels, which are transmitted on an individual frequency. Thanks to this, they do not intersect with each other and are separated using a tuner (built-in or external).

Make sure there is a relay

Log in to the interactive map of TsETV (website map.rtrs.rf), select your location and read the message from the service. There should be information whether there is a TV broadcast or not.

If the question is how to restore channels on a digital set-top box, there are two solutions - wait until the work is completed or tune to another tower using a card.

Check the antenna

Another explanation why 10 channels could disappear is problems with setup. As a result, the device receives the strongest signal, but not enough for the rest. To solve the problem, adjust the antenna position. This may require the following equipment:

Map and compass. Using the interactive CETV map, check the location of the nearest antenna, and then orient the receiver in the required direction. If you are at a great distance, this setting gives a high error.
Signal level scale. If some channels on your digital set-top box are missing, enter the setup mode, control the level and rotate the antenna in the horizontal plane to improve the signal quality above the 90% mark. After selecting the desired position, the antenna must be fixed.

If these steps do not work, try installing an amplifier. In this case, not a single TV channel should disappear.

Make sure the settings are correct

If the steps discussed above did not answer the question of why the set-top box shows few channels, go into the settings of the TV tuner itself. If it is incorrectly adjusted and the frequency is incorrect, you cannot count on high-quality reception. There are two possible reasons why the settings disappeared:

The frequency on the repeater has changed after maintenance or repair work.
The tuner data has changed, for example, due to a sudden blackout or prolonged downtime.

To solve the problem, you need to find out the frequency using a CETV card and configure the channels on the tuner manually. The algorithm of actions depends on the device model, but the general steps are as follows:

Enter the TV or tuner menu.
Select settings mode.
In the menu, select the Manual section.
Select the desired frequency option.
Start searching for TV channels.

If the information is entered correctly, the tuner will find the necessary channels

The management of Channel Five officially announced staff reductions and a refusal to finance a number of television projects. According to official information, the reduction will be 15%. However, unofficially they say that budgets will be cut much more severely, including the fact that the regional network will be abolished. The exodus of the management of Marina Fokina’s call has already begun from Channel Five. All this may indicate that the concept of the regional channel, for which the Five received a federal frequency, did not justify itself in the eyes of its current owners. However, the channel’s management itself says that the concept will not change. On January 25, 2006, Channel Five won a competition for several dozen regional frequencies and became de jure all-Russian. To participate in the competition, the concept of “regional television” was invented - the basis of news and journalistic programs was supposed to be information from the regions without any dominance from Moscow or even St. Petersburg. Wanting to be consistent to the end, the then management of the Five, headed by Marina Fokina, abandoned regional windows even for St. Petersburg. Thus, the canal essentially ceased to be a city channel. It was entirely possible not to make such sacrifices, since, in the general opinion, the decision to allocate federal air time to the Five was political, and it would have won the competition under any concept. However, a year later, harsh reality and the approaching Duma elections made their own adjustments, and the “St. Petersburg Hour” appeared on local air. This was not done in other regions. If talk about the reduction of 17 of 26 regional bureaus turns out to be true, this fact, together with the departure of the head of the news service Vladislav Ponomarenko, chief director Mikhail Barkan and, possibly, a number of other managers, indicates that the concept of a regional channel is buried. Strictly speaking, most experts believe that the idea of “regional television” was flawed from the very beginning. “In words it may sound as beautiful as you like, but the news from Samara is not interesting to a resident of Vladivostok, and nothing can be done about it. After 2 years of broadcasting, I think everyone has already become convinced of this,” said one of the city television workers, who asked not to be named. Due to the refusal to broadcast locally, Channel Five lost part of the St. Petersburg audience, and could not find another, he believes. Almost all experts agree that if we change the concept of the Five, it will not be to a socio-political channel. “Universal socio-political television is now leaving, and this is not a Russian, but a global trend,” Maxim Polyakov, general director of STS-Petersburg, told Gorod, “it is being replaced by niche TV channels.” “Everything new is a well-forgotten old, and perhaps it would make sense to revive the traditions of the early perestroika Channel Five,” says one of his colleagues, “however, then there was a snobbish, petty-bourgeois Moscow and a poor, but democratic St. Petersburg. According to them, the holding company remembered its own old idea to divide the audience of the two assets they own by gender. Ren-TV should be a “male” channel – brutal and information-rich, and Channel Five should be a “female” channel: quiet, calm and homely. The concept is a bit strange, but it will be interesting to see how it turns out in practice. If this happens, of course. However, NMG representatives themselves, who supervise Channel Five, say that they are not going to change the concept of the “channel of the regions”. “Unfortunately, the global financial crisis has also affected us, so possible options for reducing costs are currently being discussed,” said a representative of the holding, “in particular, we are talking about a 15 percent reduction in full-time employees. First of all, this applies to ineffective editorial offices located in some regions of the country, as well as some programs.” The dismissal of top management, according to this version, is caused by the fact that the entourage of general director Marina Fokina had to be finalized before the start of the new television season in the spring and is now leaving after her. Personally, I think this is stupid. To divide channels by gender, you need appropriate content. But, as far as I know, the idea of turning Channel Five into a women's channel has now been abandoned. — Did your team manage to implement the concept of a “channel of regions”?
“I don’t think we managed to implement it.” At one time I had great doubts about accepting such a concept. Everyone is equally interested in Ksyusha Sobchak, but few people care about the problems of the city of Kemerovo. This is certainly a noble project - after all, Channel Five is the only one that talks about what is happening outside the Garden Ring. But as a business project it is untenable; a government decision on the existence of such a channel and appropriate support are needed.

One or more TV channels on the digital set-top box are missing

Make sure you have a subscription. If there is only one or a group of TV channels, pay attention to the peculiarities of the provision of services. On the receiver remote control, select the “Menu” button;
In the list of operations that appears, point to the “Installation” position;
In the PIN code entry window, enter the combination of the card’s secret code (indicated on the back of the smart card) or enter “0000” if there is no code;

By successively pressing the “Ok” button, agree to return to the factory settings;
After the reset is complete, launch the “Auto Search” function to configure the channels;
Save found channels.

It is worth considering that in the case of the end of the paid subscription period for the tariff, the basic list of TV channels is sent to the end of the entire list. That's why they are located after channel 100.

Software Update

In order to improve display and protect against unauthorized access, the provider recommends regular software updates. If this operation is not carried out on time, the broadcast of TV channels may be stopped. The software update should be carried out when a new version of the system software is released, so that further channels can be shown.

Do not turn off the power while updating the software.

To update, use the “Updates” item in the receiver menu. The progress of the operation implies that the equipment is turned on to prevent partial overwriting of files. Accidental overwriting will result in equipment malfunction and loss of broadcasting.

Smart card reading error

The receiver must “read” the smart card in order for broadcasting to begin. When the receiver does not see it, a failure occurs. Accordingly, basic channels cannot be shown. To check the visibility of a smart card, follow the steps:

Press “Menu” on the receiver’s remote control;
Select the “Conditional access” option;
In the window that appears, click on the Dre module;
Make sure the number is available in the “ID card number” line.

If there is no number, the device cannot recognize the card being used. This is due to incorrect installation of the card in the card reader, a malfunction of the card reader itself, a discrepancy between the card inside and the software used, or a breakdown of the receiver.

After checking that the card was inserted correctly, the ID number should appear. Otherwise, you need to check the functionality of the smart card (on other equipment) or rule out malfunctions in the receiver.

Data not confirmed

Confirmation of data is required if the user has not done so previously. To confirm them, the subscriber can use the services of a personal account on the Tricolor website or make a call to technical support, where the operator can confirm the ID number and contact information.

Basic channels do not work, information channels work

If the information channel shows, then the problem of the lack of TV showing of basic channels arises due to non-confirmation of the subscriber data or the invisibility of the smart card. Data confirmation was described above. The visibility of the card is due to its correct installation in a working card reader. Change in price for the basic package

The company may change the prices for the packages provided, which will affect the lack of broadcasting of TV channels. Prices for new tariffs are provided for both newly connected subscribers and those who have been using the company’s services for a long time. The information channel warns about changes in tariff policy, so the subscriber must deposit the required amount into the account on time.

Tricolor trick (basic channels do not work due to the fault of the provider)

The Tricolor company offers subscribers to pay for the package provided in installments. If this payment method is chosen, the combined amounts are paid before a certain date. If there is insufficient funds in the subscriber's account, the company does not guarantee the television broadcast of basic channels.

Also, if the contract is unilaterally terminated, the user may lose access to viewing basic TV channels. After all, the contract states that the provider is not responsible for the correctness of broadcasting free channels.

The entire package of channels on the digital set-top box has disappeared

The situation is more complicated when at a certain moment the entire set of TV channels disappeared. The TV may display different messages, such as No Signal. The question arises, how to return channels to the set-top box, and what could be the reasons for this situation. Take the following steps:

Perform manual or automatic setup. To get started, run the search again and try to restore the list using manual or automatic mode. The digital tuner settings may have gone wrong due to a power surge or internal problems.
Increase the antenna power or change its position. Sometimes due to bad weather conditions the antenna moves. You notice that first the first and then the second channel disappeared. In the future, they may disappear all at once. If the problem occurs during a thunderstorm, snow or rain, you do not need to do anything. If the fault remains after the weather conditions return to normal, check the integrity of the cable and the correct location of the antenna. To evaluate the signal, press the i (INFO) icon on the remote control and look at the level. If it is too low, make an adjustment and set the power to minimum.

Check that the equipment is working properly. When looking for answers to the question of where the TV channels disappeared, you cannot rule out a malfunction of the equipment - a digital set-top box or TV. Make sure that the equipment is plugged in and that all indicators on the front panel are lit. In the case of a tuner, the power supply may be faulty. If it is external, try changing it. If this does not work, contact service. Inspect the cable for integrity. The digital signal may have been lost due to damage.

The Five employees, realizing this, are collecting signatures for an appeal to the country's leadership with a request to intervene in the situation. The arrival of Natalya Nikonova was announced and the appointment of Arkady Solovyov as general director. But they didn’t say whether the news would be closed or people would be fired. Is it true or not, who will tell us when... In any case, I think this is the story of two weeks.

If everything that is written there is true, then I understand the people who are collecting signatures. Because it all looks very scary... Well, if it’s not true, then we need to figure it out.

I remember how in 1997 they took away the frequency for the “Culture” channel and it was some kind of nightmare: the company was liquidated and, in my opinion, more than 2 thousand people went to the streets. But then the city channel remained. And if there are layoffs now... No, something in this story confuses me: somehow it all looks very daring, so daring that it seems implausible.

And the fact that Russia Today will make news looks very strange. It is true that we have a large staff and our own production turned out to be much more expensive than outsourcing. Another thing is that people become hostage to the decisions of the previous leadership - this is very sad. And where will all these people go? There is no place to work at all in Leningrad.

“I absolutely agree with everything that is written in this letter. I believe that an attempt to once again deprive St. Petersburg of the right to speak with the country on its own behalf is monstrous, and, unfortunately, in the current economic conditions, an irreparable mistake. It even pains me to think about the humiliating and, in general, almost hopeless situation the channel’s employees will find themselves in if the rumors turn out to be true.

But I will not sign this letter, at least because it is addressed to the wrong people. I have always been a staunch opponent of state interference in business affairs and I see no point in changing my principles and bowing to government officials, including the leaders of pro-Kremlin parties, to urge them to bend the shareholders and save my job. This is my personal choice as one of the representatives of the channel’s management, I still share the management’s responsibility for the lack of commercial success of an enterprise called Channel Five, but hundreds of engineers, journalists, editors, editors, cameramen, directors, drivers, they should not suffer from - because our creative searches did not bring financial results. I hope that the channel’s new reformers will appreciate not only the company’s material assets, but also the value of the name, which is based on the work of many generations of Leningrad Television professionals. And throwing people out into the street means not caring about their work and the earned name of the channel.

“I don’t know what will happen to people.” There are no expectations yet, so we are turning to our authorities and hoping that, as in Pikalevo, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will come and something will be decided. From what I understand, the idea of restructuring also involves restructuring the news. It is much easier to order news than to do it on REN TV and Channel Five, and save money.

Nobody has invited us to Rossiya-2 yet, but Channel 5 will not have any documentary projects, sports, cultural ones - there will be no projects of its own in general. There will still be people at Channel Five who will support the shareholders' premises. The building will be rented. There will be a business center at Chapygina 6.

There will be no St. Petersburg content at all, at least it will be federal.

— Apparently, we will send the letter on Wednesday. But if a significant number of signatures are collected, then maybe earlier. As of 12 noon, about a hundred had been collected. Some came specially to sign up.

To be honest, I’m offended that at Chapygina 6 there will be either a business center or a department store. We can quite accurately assume that all management will be in Moscow, and all production will be on one resource and also in Moscow. The content will be completely purchased, this, of course, will reduce costs and so on. And people, of course, will end up on the street.

This is an attempt to do something. It seems to me that these five people to whom the letter is being sent - all of them are St. Petersburg residents - I hope they are not indifferent to the fact that Chapygina, 6, will cease to exist.

The voice of St. Petersburg is relevant for the regions. They are curious what St. Petersburg thinks. I think that's a significant oversimplification: all this procurement content. Instead of one and a half thousand, 100 people will remain.

We do not have any official information for employees yet. There are already some personnel decisions. But we ourselves proceed from information from the press.
