Today, almost everyone wants to install digital TV for themselves, and this is not surprising, because by making certain settings on your TV, you will get access to a package of 20 main channels.
DTV is popular among many people. They ask you to pay a certain amount for connection, although this is not so difficult. The main thing is to have a TV that supports DVB-C signal reception, or a special tuner.
TVs from Toshiba are especially popular among Russian citizens today. The reason for their popularity lies in their low price, large range of models, prevalence and ease of management. Connecting digital TV on such a TV is also quite simple.
The procedure and name of the items may differ in different series, so today we will show several options.
Description of the Toshiba brand
Toshiba is one of the largest corporations in the world. She oversees various areas of activity. Offices are located in several cities around the world.
About company
Toshiba is a Japanese organization with a long history. It began its activities back in the 20th century. The formation occurred against the background of the merger of two organizations - Shibaura Seisaku-sho and Tokyo Denki. The basis was a corporate takeover.
The founding year of Toshiba is considered to be 1939.
At that time, the corporation did not yet have a name that was familiar to us. The universally recognizable nonsense acquired the name “Toshiba” only in 1978.
Toshiba makes:
- household appliances;
- electronics;
- computers and their components;
- audio and video equipment.
The main focus is televisions. Two years ago, Toshiba TV production was bought by Hisense. This is a Chinese company that began producing devices under the name of a recognizable brand.
The appearance of the first televisions
The peak of the company's active work occurred in the post-war period. After the end of World War II, the corporation began to actively develop the technical basis of its products.
The evolutionary growth of TVs in the company can be broken down by year:
- 1952 - Toshiba was the first in Japan to produce a television transmitter.
- 1959 - the first Japanese TV powered by transistors was released.
- 1971 - the company presented to the world the first device in its history in color format. It is based on integrated circuits.
- The year 1985 is famous for the fact that the corporation created the world's first transceiver for HDTV television.
TV manufacturing countries
Toshiba has many offices and more than one factory. TVs come for sale from different countries:
- for the USA, Canada and Mexico, production is located in Mexico;
- for the countries of the East and China there are collection points for equipment in China and Thailand;
- Devices are supplied to the Russian market from the local Toshiba plant.
The main production base is located in Japan. All components are distributed across countries from there.
Toshiba in Russia
There are Toshiba representatives in Russia as well. The plant is located in Kaliningrad. It is called Telebalt. The production was founded not so long ago - in 1999.
The plant works with Toshiba on a contract basis. The main direction is the assembly of televisions, but the company’s specialists also launch other devices on the market.
Features of Telebalt:
- all departments are high-tech;
- production capacity is high, it is possible to produce 5 thousand units of product in one shift;
- TVs are assembled exclusively on equipment that has passed the test;
- The plant uses only modern technologies.
TVs that meet all technical and consumer requirements enter the Russian market. All products are tested.

Hisense presented Toshiba TVs to Russian consumers and announced the launch of the official website tv-toshiba.ru. Now customers can find out more information about products and receive service support. Today, Toshiba television equipment is exclusively presented on the AliExpress marketplace, where sellers are several Hisense partner stores.
Earlier in 2021, Hisense acquired Toshiba's TV division, increasing its efficiency and profitability, while maintaining the high technological standards of the products and the quality proven by time and millions of users. In television, Hisense uses a dual-brand strategy, promoting both Toshiba's brand and its own. The company merged manufacturing and technology by sharing resources and unique technological advantages, sharing R&D, sourcing, production and sales data with Toshiba. Toshiba has accumulated a wealth of expertise in TV and display design as the world's leading electronics brand, while Hisense has achieved excellence in new display technologies, smart TV platforms, content services and laser TVs.
The acquisition resulted in shorter Toshiba production cycles and lower development costs. The companies, combining a highly effective sales network with a renowned brand, strengthened the promotion of Toshiba products in Japan and abroad. Since the end of 2019, Toshiba TVs manufactured by Hisense began to be sold in online stores on AliExpress. Now TVs are available in Russia, which means fast delivery of goods, high speed of service and the absence of import duties, as well as delays at customs.
Hisense intends to increase the number of Toshiba TVs sold by 4-5 times in three years.
According to the head of the sales department for Hisense and Toshiba TVs in Russia Jay Dong , the company plans to expand the business of selling Toshiba TV in Russia: “We are returning a popular and reliable brand to the Russian market of mid- and premium-level TVs after an almost six-year break, we are resuming deliveries and counting on a multiple increase in sales that will contribute to the global recovery of the brand. Hisense adheres to a multi-brand strategy and will develop product lines under the Hisense and Toshiba brands simultaneously."
Today in Russia you can purchase the following TV models: 4K UHD SmartTV U5865 and L5865 with diagonals of 32, 43, 50 and 55 inches. The assortment of stores will be replenished from July with new models of the brand, from the new line of Smart TV L5069 and the line of 4K TVs U5069, etc.
Buying TVs directly from manufacturers has many advantages. These include comfortable warranty and service maintenance in more than 200 brand service centers throughout Russia, a 24/7 support hotline, high speed customer service without import duties and customs delays.
According to Dr. Lan Ling, Chairman of Hisense International Ltd, laser TV will dominate the market in the future and Hisense is the company that is leading in this technology direction. Dr. Lin says Hisense and Toshiba have what it takes to sell more than 40 million TVs annually and become No. 2 in global sales.
The transformation of Toshiba's television division was based on 6 key factors, including assets, liabilities, rights and interests, revenues, expenses and profits. When designing the business operating mechanism, Hisense fully considered how to combine the interests of the company and employees.

Pros and cons of Toshiba TVs
Toshiba produces high-quality TVs. Their main advantages:
- High quality resolution. Almost all models (even cheap ones) are available in HD 720p and higher.
- There is a backlight that runs on diodes. This makes the TV modern and attractive in appearance.
- These same LEDs help control the TV if the lighting in the room is poor.
- Images are updated quickly, with an average rate of 100 Hz.
- The range is wide, maximum 1360x768 pixels.
- Large viewing angle.
- Possibility to use TV as a monitor for a desktop computer.
- There is built-in stereo sound.
- All TVs are equipped with a child lock feature.
- Availability of connectors for cables and flash drives.
- Thin body of the product.
- Optimal sizes.
There are also disadvantages:
- low sound power in some budget models;
- software errors on TVs that have Smart (they sometimes reboot without permission).
How to choose the right model?
Before you buy a Toshiba TV that will completely suit you, pay attention to the technical side of the device and its capabilities. Other parameters also matter, such as the area of the room.
Diagonal and dimensions
Look at the size of your room where you are choosing a TV:
- for the kitchen, the smallest TV with a diagonal of no more than 25 inches is suitable (diagonal - from 50 to 64 cm, width - 44-54 cm, height - 24-32 cm);
- in the bedroom, a medium-sized device with a diagonal of 32 to 40 inches will look good (diagonal is 76-100 cm, width - from 66 to 88 cm, height - 37-50 cm);
- for living rooms there is nothing better than a large TV with a diagonal of at least 42 inches (diagonal from 106 cm, width from 92 cm, height from 52 cm).
It is best to choose a thin TV. It looks modern and does not take up much space. Also don't forget about the stand. Choose based on the size of the area where the TV will be placed. It is advisable that the stand does not take up much space.
Matrix
Toshiba produces TVs with different types of matrices:
- Liquid crystal LCD.
They consume little electricity and have high brightness levels. - Powered by diodes (LEDs).
Color rendition on such TVs cannot be compared with others, but such a device is not cheap. - Plasma.
These matrices are valued for the realism of the transmitted picture, but if the sun's rays hit the screen, it is not convenient to watch TV.

Setting up Toshiba TVs
Setting up a modern Toshiba device is easy. Manufacturers have provided two methods (depending on the model). If you do everything correctly, you can provide yourself with at least 20 channels to watch.
Method one:
1. Take the remote control and go to the main menu. In it, find the “Settings” tab.
2. The system will prompt you to select a country. Select Russia.
3. Next, go to the “Automatic Settings” section.
4. Click Start Search.
5. Click on the “OK” button.
The TV will do everything for you. Wait at least 5 minutes. After completing the procedure, a complete list of channels available for viewing will appear on the screen.
Method two:
1. Using the TV remote control, go to the “Settings” category.
2. A window will appear in which click on “Automatic channel scan”.
3. Select “Digital TV”.
4. Next, click on the “Ok” button.
The system provides only those channels that can be watched without additional payment.
All Toshiba TVs (except those released in the 90s) have Internet access. Typically the connection occurs via the built-in Wi-Fi adapter. If it is absent, connect to the World Wide Web using a router.
It's easy to do:
- Go to settings.
- Select "Wireless Network Type".
- Click on "Automatic Mode".
- The system will notify you when the connection to the network occurs.
If your TV already has Wi-Fi built-in, it is possible to synchronize the TV with your phone or tablet. To do this, download the application (for example, Mi Remote). It allows you to install a remote control for your TV on your phone.
The virtual control panel has the same functions as the regular one.
2021 Toshiba TVs
Toshiba isn't really positioning itself as an innovator when it comes to cutting-edge TV technology, but what it is doing - bringing the latest technology to market at a more affordable price - is also something of a nice innovation. This year, Toshiba will continue its mission to launch OLED TVs with the X98 series. At the same time, the entire range of 4K UHD models will support Dolby Vision HDR, as well as HDR10 and the HLG broadcast standard.
Not only in 4K, but also in Full HD TVs, Toshiba is also going to improve the situation with Alexa voice support. This means that owners of Amazon Echo and Echo Dot will be able to control their TVs wirelessly with their voice - turn it on or off, change channels and sources, and adjust the volume.
It may not be the most exciting aspect of using a smart home, but Amazon's Alexa is certainly one of the more common and smart assistants Toshiba could choose to use.
Toshiba has also made improvements to TV audio in 2021, confirming that it is collaborating with Hi-Fi and home cinema brand Onkyo on the design of all its speakers and subwoofers. The latest enhancement is the addition of the Toshiba Smart TV Portal. The company promises that the portal will provide a "better, more personalized browsing experience" by integrating on-demand services, customizable menus, and "view as you scroll."
X98 OLED Series from Toshiba TV
The X98 line includes TVs with diagonals of 55 and 65 inches. Looking to upgrade to an OLED display? Then the thin bezel Toshiba X98 TV is right for you. OLED TVs are doing well in the TV market, so no one expects Toshiba's OLEDs to cost significantly less, but they will still force competitors to think about changing their pricing policy.
With no backlight, these 4K HDR TVs are able to display deeper black levels by completely turning off the self-emissive LED. The result is brighter color contrasts and, accordingly, more realistic colors on the screen.
Like the 75-inch U68 model, both X98 TVs will have a wide color gamut, displaying up to 1024 shades of a single color and covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color space. These are Toshiba's top-end models for 2021, so it won't come as a surprise to see XSound Pro on board, featuring DTS TruSurround HD and coming with larger speakers. As a result, we will have excellent sound quality and prominent bass from internal subwoofers.
U68 series from Toshiba TV
The U68 line includes TVs with diagonals of 43, 49, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches. The U68 series is a segment where Toshiba is looking to expand its range of screen sizes, so if you have the space for a 75-inch set, this range is worth a look.
All U68 models have 4K resolution with support for Dolby Vision HDR, as well as HDR10 and HLG. Toshiba says the 75-inch model also comes in a wide range of colors. The U68 TV also uses Toshiba's XSound Pro technology.
U78 series from Toshiba TV
The U78 line includes TVs with diagonals of 49 and 55 inches. The U78 series is significantly smaller in size than the U68, but it is still not in the category of babies. These 4K TVs also offer Dolby Vision HDR support along with HDR10 and HLG.
They also boast built-in upscaling, so even when you're watching non-4K content, you can be sure you're getting the most out of your 4K screen. This series features somewhat simplified sound technology, using the Toshiba Plus system with DTS HD and DTS TruSurround. The front-facing Onkyo speakers produce good sound without the use of subwoofers.
U58 series from Toshiba TV
The U58 line includes TVs with diagonals of 43, 49, 50, 55 and 65 inches. The U58 line is the most affordable of Toshiba's range of 4K HDR TVs. Although it supports Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG like the U78 and U68, it does not have a built-in upscaler and uses simplified audio based on standard XSound technology.
T68 series from Toshiba TV
The T68 line includes TVs with diagonals of 43, 49, and 65 inches. Everything here is the same as in the U58 line, but the sound is slightly improved. The T68 line includes 4K TVs with support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG. The sound is the same as the U78 series.
Operating TVs
Manufacturers of Toshiba equipment always put a manual for using the TV in the box along with the product. Usually people figure out the settings on their own and only in case of a breakdown do they turn to the included papers.
There are several tips for getting started using Toshiba TVs:
- If the device was delivered to your home on a cold or rainy day, it is not advisable to plug it into the network right away. Wait about an hour.
- Before connecting, familiarize yourself with all connectors (they are located on the back or side panel).
- You'll need an HDMI input if you want to watch digital channels.
- On the first day of using the device, check all additional ports (turn on headphones, use a flash card, connect to the Internet, etc.).
The plant produces Toshiba models with minimal settings. They do not always suit the user, and he begins to reconfigure. Using the remote control you can change:
- connection of channels;
- date and time;
- language;
- image format;
- sound parameters;
- Smart TV function;
- Internet access.
If we are talking about a digital set-top box (for watching over-the-air channels), you can install it yourself if you do everything according to the included instructions. To make your task easier, you can purchase a universal control panel.
Toshiba includes such a control panel as standard on some TV models.
