Owners of MAG-250 and RT STB HD Standart set-top boxes were especially lucky - they could flash it with alternative firmware, then upload a playlist to it and enjoy almost three hundred channels. This design worked successfully for several years, until about a month ago Rostelecom turned on channel coding. Moreover, this was not done centrally, that is, everywhere at once, but somehow chaotically, in different branches. The channels were also encrypted, sometimes one or two at a time, sometimes ten at a time. To the point that in some areas only the federal channels of the first multiplex remained available. This is where users become despondent. The freebie seems to be over. But it was not there.
The developers of alternative firmware for MAG-250 have found a way to decode Rostelecom channels and disable digital television encryption. He included this feature in the Set-Top-Box firmware. The only negative is paid activation costing 200 rubles. But compared even to the monthly cost of a full Interactive TV package, it’s inexpensive.
Requirements and conditions: - alternative software must be installed on the TV set-top box. Nothing will work on software from Infomir. — The firmware version must be either 2.14-2 or 2.16-2. On branch 2.18, encoding bypass was not implemented. — The MAG-250 must have Internet access in order to have access to the activation server. For example, I have a WiFi module connected for this purpose.
After activation of the STB software is successful, the item Enable Verimatrix CAS . He is the one responsible for disabling the encoding of Rostelecom channels. Move the slider to the “ON” position. Now you can connect your TV set-top box to the IPTV network and after that encrypted channels will become available again.
Attention! If the provider's keys are updated frequently and the image starts to fade out again during viewing, you will have to connect the set-top box to the Internet again to update the keys. In order not to constantly plug the Ethernet cable, it is best to buy a WiFi module and use it for these purposes.
PS: It is unknown how long this scheme will work, but it will be enough for some time. And then maybe someone else will come up with something. For those who watch Interactive TV via VLC Player on a computer, there is no good news yet.
