As a result, all modern TV set-top boxes will have the Wink platform, and now in some Rostelkom branches only set-top boxes with the new interface are on sale.

At the moment, you can get a set-top box with Wink in those branches where the transition to the new interface has already been made. Or you can update your TV set-top box to a new version and firmware. If Wink is supported by your device, the update will occur automatically.

A way to return the old view of the application from Rostelecom

The transition to a new interface is often perceived painfully by users, and if someone has been using the old interface for a long time, it will be difficult to accustom them to the new one, despite the various useful properties of the updates.

In fact, returning to the old interface from Wink is very easy and is literally a matter of a couple of clicks:

1. So, in Wink, go to “My”, and then open the “My Settings” section.

2. Among the many options, you will see a button “Return to the old interface“. Click on it and that's it. After reboot you will see the old interface.

It would seem that's it. But no. Some users may not see the option to return to the old interface in the settings. This may be because you are on one of the new plans, for example:

• Maximum;
• Premium

Unfortunately, on these tariff plans it will not be possible to return to the familiar old interface of the Wink application from Rostelecom. And then you will have to learn a new one. Connecting the set-top box to the router

A standard STB receiver (not TV 2.0) does not have a WiFi module and you can only connect the Rostelecom set-top box to the router via an Ethernet port. Here he is:

One of the connectors of the supplied network patch cord is connected to it. On the other hand, it is connected to the LAN port of a WiFi router, ADSL modem or GPON terminal, pre-configured for the service.

There are no difficulties with connecting devices with wires. They appear further when the user tries to set up Rostelecom television on the router in order to include an STB receiver in it. That is why I want to cover this issue separately and in more detail.

Setting up a router port for a TV set-top box

You can’t just plug the receiver into any connector on your router or modem—nothing will work. It must first be configured correctly.

As an example, I will look at one of the most popular routers - D-Link DIR-300. On other models, the web interface will, of course, be different, but the principle of operation itself remains unchanged. Act in the same way and you will succeed! So, as a rule, in most cases, for the Interactive Digital Television service to work on the router, it is enough to simply separate the port and configure it in bridge mode. On D-Links this is done as easily as possible, through Click'n'Connect or the IPTV Setup Wizard.

It’s a little more complicated in cases where you need to additionally specify a virtual network identifier - VLAN ID . This is practiced in many Rostelecom branches. In this case, you must first find out your ID from technical support. Doing this can sometimes be very difficult, due to the fact that the call center that accepts applications is often completely unaware of the situation and it is better to ask immediately to be connected to local support specialists.

After you have found out your Vlan ID for IPTV, write it in the router parameters and bind it to the desired LAN port.

What to do if, when returning the interface, you accidentally reset the settings to factory settings

The options “Return the old interface” and “Return to factory settings” are located in the same settings section and are consistent. Therefore, a common problem is that one is confused with the other. And if, instead of returning to the default settings, you accidentally return to the old interface from Wink, then this is not so scary. But if, instead of returning to the old interface, you return to the factory settings, a problem will arise - the TV set-top box will ask for authorization.

What to do in this case:

1. If you accidentally reset the set-top box to factory settings, the set-top box will reboot. After downloading, you will be asked to enter your login and password.
2. Find your username and password and enter them in the appropriate fields, then log in. You will find these authorization data in the contract.

3. Please note that if you use multiroom mode and have several TV set-top boxes, then you need to enter the login and password for the set-top box that requests authorization. Your contract with the multiroom service should have several logins and passwords, and you can understand which one is suitable for the set-top box requesting entry by its MAC address, which is also indicated in the contract. The TV screen has become narrow - how to fix the defect yourself

The height and width parameters can sometimes be adjusted manually. Detailed instructions for manual monitor correction:

• To prevent the picture from being cropped, you need to find the “Image” option in the menu;
• select the “Picture Size” mode;
• configure the screen configuration.

Wink is a special application from the operator that gives access to interactive TV under one account on 5 different devices, including Android and iOS, Smart-TV LG and Samsung.

Interactive television is similar to cable TV, but is provided through various applications and services. In fact, it is no different from satellite or cable options, but it is much more convenient due to the fact that much less equipment is needed to connect, and access to channels, TV series and films can be obtained on different devices. Authorization in interactive TV is carried out through the provider. It could be a mobile or Internet operator. Access is provided through an existing or new account (that is, a user profile on the company website). So, to go back to the new Wink from the strictly interface, do the following:

1. Open the “Interactive TV” menu section and click on “Try Wink”.

2. Then click "Go to Wink".

3. A message will appear indicating that the device needs to be rebooted. Click "Yes" to begin the reboot.

4. The TV box will boot with Wink. If you need to synchronize devices, you should create an account. You can do this directly on your TV. Click "Activate".

5. Enter your phone number. An SMS will be sent to it and this number will serve as a login in the future to log into your Wink account on any device. Click "Next". When the code arrives, enter it in the appropriate field.

Error while initializing the application

To fix the problem, you need to set DNS in the TV settings. Eliminating the error that occurs during application initialization involves performing the following actions described below.

2. Select IP Settings.
3. Click DNS Settings/Enter Manually.
4. Enter 8.8.8.8 in the displayed field, click “Finish”.
