According to the plans of the Russian Federation, digital television coverage of the entire territory of the country should already be implemented in full. Thus, currently, residents of many regions of the Russian Federation can experience all the delights of digital television.
Still, there may be cases when you need to find out whether there is coverage with a DVB T2 signal in a particular area, how to find a DVB-T tower, and even where to point the digital television antenna.
The current interactive map of CETV for all regions of the Russian Federation is presented here.
Digital television coverage map
Finding out the coverage area of the so-called “digits” is quite simple. Fortunately, the developers took care of having a special interactive map of digital terrestrial television . On the website of this project, the user can select the region he needs and find out all the data he is interested in.
Open coverage map
The system provides access to broadcasting points; this parameter is already used by the site by default. Broadcasting points, in fact, are television towers that broadcast in the DVB-T2 format. Users of the interactive map have access to information about the RTRS-1 repeater towers (shown in blue on the map) and RTRS-2 (shown in red on the map).
The gray color of the TV tower indicates that the repeater is under construction. Note that the information in the interactive map system is updated in real time, so the user can rest assured that the data is up to date.
RTRS-1 is the first digital multiplex, which includes a package of channels that should be available throughout the Russian Federation. RTRS-1 is broadcast free of charge, is not encrypted and includes 10 channels, including the popular ones: Channel One, Russia-1.
RTRS-2 is another digital TV package, which also includes 10 channels, among which STS, TNT, and REN TV are popular.
How to use the interactive map to set up CETV
To do this, you need to use the interactive built-in service at the beginning of the article. It displays a map of the area and a control menu on the left. If automatic location detection does not occur, you will need to enter your residential address in the field above the map.
By default, “Digital Broadcasting” is selected.
The user will see an interactive online map with icons of TV towers of different colors.
They show the location of the repeaters:
- RTRS-1 (blue)
- RTRS-2 (red).
Which are broadcast by the first and second multiplex, respectively.
If there is only one tower nearby, the antenna must be directed so that it picks up the signal from both.
Important! The minimum plane coverage for all receivers is 135° and it is enough to install it in the average direction between the repeaters.
If there are a large number of television towers nearby, the problem becomes more complicated, because the signals from each overlap, and not all of them will reach the antenna at a sufficient level. Radiation from only one of the repeaters will guarantee reliable reception.
To determine its operating frequency, you need to check the “frequency zones” box on the left.
Operating area of the PTPC-1 TV channel package (first MULTIPLEX)
An interactive online map of digital terrestrial television distribution will open in different colors, each of which corresponds to the coverage of specific television towers.
Operating area of the PTPC-2 TV channel package (second MULTIPLEX)
They are marked with frequencies and channels, which are necessary to tune in television.
When at the border zone
If your area of residence on the interactive map is indicated as a “border” between two frequency zones, you need to focus on the towers. The antenna is directed to the nearest TV towers RTRS-1 and RTRS-2. The broadcast frequency can be viewed by clicking on the tower icon.
Digital TV tower map
When selecting the “Digital Broadcasting” and “Frequency Zones” parameters in the system, the interactive map is painted in different colors, and the user has access to viewing data on a particular tower. In order to find out more detailed information, you should click on the region of interest and a specific tower.
Users have access to information about:
- Location of repeaters;
- Frequency zones;
- Physical channel number;
- Number of operating multiplexes;
- Television and radio companies servicing a particular tower.
Map of digital television of the Moscow region
Digital broadcasting of RTRS of the first type in the capital of Russia is divided into many single-frequency zones, that is, each such zone involves broadcasting multiplexes on one frequency. For many residents of the capital, the main TV transmitter is the Ostankino Tower.
Open coverage map
For certain reasons, in particular due to buildings and terrain, a high-quality signal from this source cannot be obtained in all areas of the city. The solution to this problem is to redirect the antenna to the repeater.
The signal from these towers is much weaker than the signal transmitted by the Ostankino Tower; such towers operate at a certain frequency. Note that in order to find and correctly direct the UHF television antenna, the user can be helped by online map algorithms.
Map of digital television of the Leningrad region
At the beginning of December in the Leningrad region, the broadcast of the second package of channels began in some other regions. Until then, the second multiplex was available only to residents of Tikhvin, Vyborg, and Gatchina.

Digital television coverage map of the Sverdlovsk region
Currently, residents of the Sverdlovsk region have access to channels that are included in the RTRS-1 package. It is expected that by the end of this year the Sverdlovsk region will have full access to the second multiplex. So far, RTRS-2 is broadcast in cities such as Asbest, Yekaterinburg, as well as Serov, Nizhny Tagil.

Map of digital television of the Samara region
Until 2021, two packages of channels were broadcast in the Samara region from four towers - Samara, Chapaevsk, Syzran and Zhigulevsk. Since January of this year, 50 television towers located in the region also began broadcasting 20 channels.

You can always find out about details for other regions of Russia through the interactive map system .
What is the interactive map of CETV
It is an online service.
Thanks to it, the user can find out important information about the operation of terrestrial digital television:
- How many multiplexes are there?
- In what direction and where are the broadcast repeaters located;
- At what frequencies does each channel package operate;
- Which broadcasting company services the tower?
The last point is relevant because Each repeater is assigned an operator who is responsible for its maintenance and can provide information about the operation of digital TV.
What information can you find out?
It has informative options, each of which will allow you to correctly configure digital television:
- Location of repeaters. Each package of television channels broadcasts from different television towers for the reason that the first and second multiplexes were launched several years apart. They can be in different directions from the house.
- Frequency zones. Thanks to them, you can find out at what frequency digital television is broadcasting. This is necessary when you are in an area where broadcasting from several towers reaches and the radiation from them overlaps.
- TVC (physical channel number). In the memory of digital TVs, each channel is assigned a specific frequency. To watch digital TV, just switch to the number of the specified program.
Also, using the interactive map, you can find out the nearest plans for expanding the CETV network. The presence of gray tower icons indicates a repeater under construction. Information is updated in real time and is current at the time you view the information.
Installation and direction of the antenna for terrestrial television of the new generation
The innovative standard on the territory of the Russian state is DVB-T2. To enjoy viewing the content provided by RTRS-1 and RTRS-2, citizens of the Russian Federation will need the following equipment:
- UHF antenna
- TV that supports DVB-T2 module
- Digital receiver (for owners of TVs that only support DBV-T)
To receive digital signals, you must have an indoor or outdoor decimeter antenna. For correct operation, point the antenna towards the repeater, the data of which can be found in the interactive map discussed earlier.
Experts advise installing a digital antenna on a windowsill, as this will allow you to achieve a high level of signal reception. Make sure there are no radio signal sources nearby as they will cause interference.
Interestingly, the presence of a multi-story building nearby does not mean that you are unlucky and because of this the signal will not be strong enough. High-rise buildings can also act as a signal reflector, on the contrary, positively influencing its power.
Installing an antenna under a metal roof can negatively affect the signal strength. When installing an outdoor antenna, care should be taken to install it firmly. Adjust the position of the antenna, guided by the technical data that is assigned to the tower that is closest to you - the exact location of the repeater, the distance to it, and the broadcast frequency can be found out thanks to the interactive map system.
Designations on the map
The television broadcast map provides different symbols, not only graphic, but also text.
Thus, on the map service, repeaters are indicated by red and blue tower icons. Each color is responsible for a specific multiplex (package of channels). The blue tower is the first multiplex, the red one is the second.
In the table of repeaters (we will consider further) there is a symbol indicating the direction of the digital tower relative to the current location of the viewer.
Finding points of sale
The algorithm for searching for stores with equipment for receiving digital television broadcasts is similar to the previous sections of the article. On the left in the map menu you need to select the “Sales Points” section and enter your residential address/city. On the coverage service, the designation of stores will appear in the video baskets. You can click on the cart and get exact information about the store’s location, phone number, and a list of television equipment sold.
Pros of digital TV
- Massive digital TV, which is absolutely free and easy to connect, offers its “clients” higher picture and sound quality. This is the very first and most important advantage of this type of radio and television broadcasting.
- The second benefit of digital TV is a large number of television channels, which is achieved through more efficient use of frequencies. So just one frequency can “fit” 10 or more channels (this is called multiplex). For 2021, depending on the region of Russia, from 10 to 30 TV channels are broadcast.
- In addition, digital television is also a set of additional useful functions such as “TV guide”, “teletext”*, etc.
*TV Guide - interactive TV guide of current and future programs. The TV guide also contains announcements and descriptions of TV shows, indicating their genres, time, etc.
*Teletext is a network television service that allows you to view text and simple images. Teletext is used to transmit news, TV programs, weather forecasts, etc.

Watch and listen to digital television radio programs!
In December 2021, the deadline for implementing the Federal Target Program “Development of Television and Radio Broadcasting in the Russian Federation for 2009-2018” ends.
The main goal of the Federal Target Program is to develop the information space of the Russian Federation and provide the country's population with multi-channel broadcasting of all-Russian, compulsory and publicly accessible television channels and radio channels of a given quality by modernizing and building the infrastructure of state television broadcasting networks and transferring them to digital technologies.
Digital terrestrial television provides consumers with a whole range of competitive advantages: first of all, high-quality sound and image, the ability to independently choose a program package, an electronic program guide (EPG) service, protection of unwanted programs for children, the ability to select subtitles, audio tracks, etc.
Terrestrial television in the DVB-T2 standard is publicly available and free for all residents of the region, as those who have switched to the new broadcasting standard have already been able to verify. These are 20 free all-Russian channels, grouped into two digital packages (two multiplexes), which are broadcast in the UHF range:
Modern TV receivers are already designed to receive a digital signal, but the majority of televisions at the disposal of residents of the region are analog devices that are not adapted to receive broadcasts in digital format. However, modern image quality and sound can be obtained on a regular TV that has been in service for more than one year.
To receive a modern digital signal on an analog TV, you need a UHF antenna and an attachment called a digital receiver or decoder. When purchasing a set-top box, you need to test its operation right in the store. The device must be optimized for the DVB-T2 standard, support MPEG4 video signal and Multiple PLP mode.
Antenna. If you live relatively close to a TV tower, you can use an indoor antenna; if your TV received an analog signal well, it will also receive a digital one. The main requirement for an outdoor antenna is reliable reception in the decimeter wavelength range (UHF). Of course, it all depends on how far the TV tower is from you and what the terrain is like. If the tower is far away, you will need an outdoor antenna to receive digital terrestrial television. They come with or without an amplifier. In case of poor reception, you need to purchase an active decimeter antenna, that is, with an amplifier and possibly raise the antenna to a mast (do not forget about grounding).
Note that if the antenna is powered, a power supply may not be needed as most T2 receivers can supply power to the antenna. Typically, this function is enabled in the receiver settings. You need to look at the specifications or instructions. The antenna must be correctly connected and directed strictly towards the TV tower.

From 01/01/2019, by decision of television companies in the Russian Federation, a reduction in analogue terrestrial television broadcasting begins; in the Tver region it will be turned off throughout the entire region with the exception of the city of Tver.
Today, the region’s digital broadcast includes a package of programs from multiplex I, and by the end of 2021, 20 on-air television programs will be available to the entire population of the Tver region.
Do you want to watch and listen to on-air digital television and radio programs, including those with regional content in the programs: “Russia-1”, “Russia-24”, “Radio of Russia”, free of charge and in excellent quality? Connect!
Digital TV coverage map
The transition to digital television is regulated by law by the Federal Program “Development of Television and Radio Broadcasting on the Territory of the Russian Federation” (also called the Federal Target Program).
The controlling body of this program is considered to be RTRS, which stands for Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network. There are RSRS branches in large regions of our country. The above-described government program pursues one goal – the development of the information space in the country. It also solves the problems of inequality between residents of individual cities in terms of access to radio and television channels.
For example, Nizhny Novgorod region. Before connecting digital television, almost half of the residents could only receive 4 terrestrial channels. After the introduction of digital TV, 97.3% of the population received access to dozens of high-quality TV channels completely free of charge.
It is important to know!
If your house is located quite far from the transmitting antenna, you live in a low-lying area or in an area with other terrain features, then it is best to:
1. Install an outdoor UHF antenna with a high gain.
2. Install an active antenna, that is, with a 5V or 12V power supply to the built-in or external amplifier.
It is recommended to install it at the maximum height and point it towards the transmitting antenna. To determine how far you are from a transmitting station, check the digital TV coverage map .

How to view the characteristics of a specific CETV tower
In the table that opens (read above), click on the compass arrow opposite the desired DVB-T2 signal repeater.
A window will automatically open, where it will be written at the top who is servicing the broadcaster.
And if you click on one of the multiplexes, the television coverage area will be displayed on the map, i.e. where the digital radio signal from the repeater reaches.
This is especially useful if you need to analyze the terrain. The map will clearly show areas that are not covered by the signal.
How to determine the direction of the antenna on a digital TV tower?
Knowing the location of the nearest radio tower, determining the direction of rotation of the TV antenna in 2021 becomes easy. For this it is enough:
- find the location of the antenna and tower on the map;
- Focusing on the position of the house and surrounding buildings, turn the TV antenna towards the repeater.
Considering the detail and accuracy of virtual services, even non-technical individuals will be able to cope with the existing goal. But, if you can’t get by without difficulties, you should take a closer look at the position of your neighbors’ antennas. Their equipment is already tuned to the required frequencies and is in the correct position. Usually, to catch a stable ether, you just need to repeat what you saw.
