NTV+ transponders and their frequencies

A transponder is a device that receives, sends, or amplifies a signal. NTV Plus uses two types of transponders: with right and left circular polarization. Each of them has its own broadcast frequencies. Lists of transponders are given in the tables below.

From the tables you can find out at what frequencies your favorite channels are broadcast. This is relevant when manually setting up equipment.

Devices with right and left circular polarization use the same technical parameters:

• flow rate 27500 SR;
• FEC ¾.

However, they still differ in the type of modulation; the former use 8PSK DVB-S2, and the latter use QPSK DVB-S.

Is that all?

Since we are talking about Ultra HD, we need to mention the channel of the same name on terrestrial digital television. Yes, test broadcasting of one channel has been going on for a year now from Ostankino! But there are nuances here too. The broadcast is test, only in Moscow, but is quite received on passive antennas within the city. From broadcasting - commercials and the Victory Parade from Red Square in a loop... what did you want from the test broadcast? But without coding and subscription fees.

The story is the same with the equipment: available only to owners of UHD TVs. DVB T2 set-top boxes sold in Russia will not work, because... Most do not support the HEVC H.265 codec.

So it turns out that no matter how you look at it, the main device for receiving ultra-high definition television is a UHD TV. But maybe this is right, because without the appropriate screen resolution the picture will lose its attractiveness.

New satellite NTV Plus Vostok Express AT 1, transponder parameters

The very first and well-known satellite TV operator in our country, NTV Plus, began broadcasting in 1996 in the European part of Russia. Ten years later, in the spring of 2006, broadcasting from the Bonum-1 satellite was launched to part of the Far East and Siberia, and the NTV-Plus Vostok package was created.

After Bonum-1, broadcasting in our region was carried out from DirecTV 1R. At the end of their operation, both of these satellites frayed a lot of nerves among NTV Plus Vostok users and Tricolor TV Siberia subscribers with their “bumpiness”.

In April 2014, broadcasting of the channels was transferred to the new Express satellite - AT 1.

The Express-AT 1 spacecraft is built on the basis of the modern Russian satellite platform Express-1000 NTV. Service life is 15 years. The satellite was launched in March 2014.

Now subscribers of NTV Plus Vostok and Tricolor TV Siberia can sleep peacefully. Lost signal problems are a thing of the past.

"Express - AT 1" has two coverage areas in the KU range:

— “Wide fixed zone” is aimed at the western and central territory of Russia — Wide.

- “Eastern Fixed Zone” central and western Siberia, and Kazakhstan - East.

NTV Plus Vostok operates with five transponders.

I will say that NTV Plus Vostok is a good option for connecting satellite television to the house, for those who have already “thoughtfully” done the wiring through a divider or dividers of the television signal (most likely for over-the-air antennas) in all rooms.
I hid everything, sewed it up and covered it up, leaving one end of the coaxial cable in the attic to connect the antenna. And he wants to connect satellite TV to two or more TVs. (According to Feng Shui, a separate cable is run from the satellite dish to each TV. It’s not an icebreaker to route the signal through a satellite splitter.)

What determines the performance of this wiring diagram? Why will it work on NTV Plus Vostok and Orient Express, but not correctly on Raduga TV, Telekarta and Continent?

Depends on two transponder parameters, frequency and polarization. With such a coaxial cable wiring system, all transponders transmitting a signal to Earth from a satellite must operate in the same polarization, and the subband frequency of all transponders must be either upper or lower.

On NTV Plus Vostok, all five transponders operate in right-hand polarization in the upper sub-band.

However, there is an alternative - the CI Plus module for Tricolor TV. But the module is not a receiver. The module performs only the function of decoding the signal and decoding it. And to watch Ultra HD you will need a satellite receiver or a TV with a built-in satellite tuner. The latter option would even be preferable, because such TVs are no longer rare (unlike 4K content), and are not much more expensive than their Full HD counterparts.
