How to repair or replace a faulty Tricolor TV remote control

Tricolor TV is one of the largest satellite television operators in the Russian Federation. In addition to providing a wide range of services for the provision of television broadcasting and the Internet, the company is a distributor of equipment of its own production. Any equipment, even the highest quality, can fail due to improper configuration, operation, or breakdown of components. The Tricolor remote control (RC) is no exception; if it breaks down, the subscriber has to figure out how to replace or repair it.

Causes and solutions

To correct the situation, you must understand why the tuner does not respond to the remote control. There may be several reasons for this:

  1. Low batteries.
  2. Remote control malfunction.
  3. Errors in choosing a mode on TV.
  4. Incorrect connection to the TV and settings on the Tricolor set-top box.
  5. Technical malfunction of the tuner.

To resolve the situation in your favor, follow the following algorithm.

Check the remote

If the Tricolor TV set-top box suddenly does not respond to the remote control, start by checking the remote control itself. To do this, take the following steps:

  1. Turn on the camera on your smartphone.
  2. Point the remote control at the camera lens.
  3. Look at the remote control LED through the viewfinder and try pressing different buttons.
  4. If the remote control responds to pressing and transmits a signal, you should see the light bulb glow.

If you don't notice anything, the batteries on the remote control are dead. Try replacing them with new power sources. After replacement, check again.

By the way, keep in mind that if your Tricolor prefix does not turn on, then it is likely that the problem is not only in the remote control. Perhaps it's the tuner itself.

Clean the remote control

If the remote control of the Tricolor set-top box does not respond to pressing, try cleaning it after disassembling the product. Remember that the plastic from which the case is made is thin. It may break or become damaged, and existing chips or indentations from the tool are unlikely to improve the appearance.

Most of the remote controls for Tricolor are very easy to disassemble:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover.
  2. Remove power supplies.
  3. Inspect the lower part.
  4. Unscrew the screws that are located at the bottom.
  5. Lift the lower part of the case.
  6. Remove the top cover.

With more modern remote controls the situation is more complicated. The casing halves are connected using latches, and to find them you need a tool of small thickness. Take the following steps:

  1. Take an old bank card, process one of its sides and reduce the thickness. Alternatively, you can use a strip of thin metal or a special tool.
  2. Guide the selected tool around the perimeter, pushing the products between the body elements. After this, press out the existing latches.

As soon as the Tricolor console remote control is open, you can start cleaning it. To do this, use a damp cloth and a dry cloth. Clean the surface, dry it and reassemble it. After this, make sure that the remote control responds to presses (use the phone camera method).

Check the integrity of the remote control

Examine the device for mechanical damage caused by falling or hitting hard objects. Therefore, if the path from the set-top box is not responding, inspect it. As a rule, the contact connections suffer along with the housing, but such problems can be identified after opening the housing. If the power contacts in the battery compartment are damaged, they can be easily soldered.

The biggest problem is the appearance of a crack on the board. Such a defect is not always visible during visual inspection, but existing damage can be easily repaired by soldering. If the carbon tracks in the corners are damaged, the Tricolor console remote control cannot be restored.

Deal with freezing after a software update

Sometimes the remote control responds to presses, but the Tricolor set-top box does not receive the signal due to problems with the update. After downloading a new version of the software, a situation may arise where the user is unable to switch channels. To resolve the problem, take the following steps:

  1. On the Tricolor set-top box, which does not respond to commands, press the TV/Radio and Channel Change (Up) buttons. Make sure these buttons are pressed at the same time.
  2. Immediately after this, press the power button to enter standby mode.

Please note that the instructions are suitable for consoles that have control buttons on the front. But with new devices, problems with the remote control rarely occur.

The tuner is in a special mode

If the Tricolor tuner does not respond to a remote control that is in working condition, the reason may be an incorrect receiver mode. For example, the device may be in standby mode. To return to work, press the Standby key.

Don’t forget about the button that is responsible for connecting to the desired connector, for example, HDMI. To obtain more accurate data, pay attention to the method of connecting the TV and tuner, and then study the instructions for the tuner on how to switch to the desired mode.

Dirt entry

No matter how neat a person is, a huge amount of dirt gets into his control panels. As a result, it happens that the OK button does not work; the keys must be pressed with considerable effort or several times. Pollution can be quite dangerous and its quantity is quite large. Sometimes you even need to completely disassemble the Tricolor TV remote control for cleaning.

How to disassemble the remote control

Important! When disassembling, do not use brute force. The plastic from which the case is made is quite thin. It is deformed, may break, and the resulting chips or gouges from the tool will not add beauty to the product.

Some models are quite easy to understand. It is worth opening the battery compartment cover, pulling them out and inspecting the bottom of the recess. There are a couple of screws here that need to be unscrewed. After this, one of the halves of the housing is raised and removed by a rod in the longitudinal direction.

Modern remote controls are more difficult to disassemble. The halves of their body are connected with latches. To find them you will need a thin tool. You can use:

  • with an old bank card, it is recommended to sand one of its short sides to reduce the thickness;
  • a strip of thin metal;
  • a special tool for working with snap-on housings.

The fixation points are quite easy to find. You need to guide it with the selected tool, pushing it between the halves of the body, along the line of their connection. The found latches are pressed out.

  • Remote control for the Tricolor TV receiver: features of the main and children's remote control

Advice! To prevent them from fixing again, you can insert matches or thin strips of plastic into the widened gap.

After finding and releasing all the latches, the housing halves are separated. To reassemble the remote control, just carefully place them together and press at the locking points until they click.

Dust and animal hair

If the buttons begin to be pressed uncertainly, get stuck in one position, and dirt is visible along their contours, it’s worth cleaning. Removing dust and hair is done carefully, using an ear stick soaked in alcohol.

Important! The use of cologne, nail polish remover, or any other oil-containing compounds is prohibited.

Finger fat

Human skin secretions are extremely fluid. Grease penetrates and spreads across the surface of the upper rubber pressure plate of the remote control. It then hits the contacts on the printed circuit board. By accumulating dirt, it breaks the chain. In addition, human skin secretions have an oxidizing effect.

You can remove fat with a solution of warm water and alcohol . As in the previous paragraph, the use of oil-containing reagents is prohibited.

Advice! To prevent the accumulation of grease, it is recommended to protect the remote control by wrapping it in a plastic bag. Some workshops provide a service by rolling devices in a special film used for packaging industrial goods.

The easiest way is to use a regular disposable plastic bag for protection. They are distributed in any supermarket. If you don’t want to look like an old woman with a remote control in a bag wrapped with tape, you can use shrink film. Special packages of this type can be easily purchased on any online trading platform, for example, on Aliexpress. After heating with a hairdryer, the heat-shrinkable shell forms a plastic cocoon on the remote control that fits tightly to the surface.

Leakage of electrolyte and ingress of water and drinks

Inexpensive salt batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries can release electrolyte if operating temperature conditions are violated or due to severe overdischarge. It not only closes the contacts of the printed circuit board, but also oxidizes them. The operation of the remote control is negatively affected by water ingress.

  • What to do if the remote control for your digital TV set-top box stops working

You can see the electrolyte release directly on the power supply housing. Having disassembled the remote control, the user discovers a yellowish or transparent liquid with a pungent odor. It can be removed with alcohol; it is advisable to wash the device parts with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Important! People with sensitive skin are not recommended to touch the electrolyte due to its strong chemical effect.

In the same way, removing liquid and cleaning the parts of the remote control, they work when plain water gets inside the case. If the device is doused with beer, you need to act immediately. This drink tends to destroy contact pads and traces on a printed circuit board.

Contact group oxides

If electrolyte leaks out or water gets in, the contacts may oxidize. This shows up slightly on the printed circuit board. However, large enough plates that the batteries touch may become covered with a thick layer of saline solution or rust. In the first case, plaque is removed with an old toothbrush dipped in alcohol. In the second, it is recommended to remove the rust with a special inhibitor; if this is not available, use fine sandpaper or the tip of a knife.

Is the problem really with the remote control?

The fact that it is the remote control that does not cause the proper reaction of the receiver, and not vice versa, can be verified in different ways:

  • take a 100% working remote control (borrow from neighbors or relatives) and check whether the receiver will respond to it;
  • if the necessary buttons are present on the external panel of the set-top box, try to control the Tricolor receiver using them (how to switch channels without a remote control is described in the user manual for the device);
  • point the turned on camera or smartphone camera at the remote control LED and see if flashes appear when you press the buttons of the remote device (infrared radiation should be observed in working condition).

Dead batteries

You can check that the TV remote control is broken using your mobile phone. To do this, the camera program is launched on it. By pointing the remote control LED and pressing buttons, you can see flashes on the smartphone screen. The human eye does not perceive them, but the camera matrix, thanks to a wider sensitivity range, distinguishes part of the infrared radiation band.

You can identify dead batteries visually . Especially if these are cheap power sources. The deformation of the housing and the appearance of stains on the outer shell indicate a discharge or the inability to produce a normalized voltage. Finally, the batteries can be checked for output voltage with a tester. The shriveled elements are replaced with new ones.

How to disassemble the Tricolor TV remote control

First, open the battery compartment and remove them. Inspect the device for screws. Often they are located in the same place as the batteries. Another popular type of fastening is snap-on. You need to be extremely careful with such a device so as not to damage anything. Now take a screwdriver of the appropriate size and release the latches one by one. To do this, lift the bottom of the device and easily move it around the body.

When disassembled, the remote control includes:

  • boards with microcircuits, quartz, contact pads, current-conducting tracks, and springs for batteries:
  • rubber mat with conductive elements;
  • two panels, as well as a transparent plastic window.

The main faults are usually:

  1. Not working buttons on the device.
  2. Remote control buttons not working.
  3. The need to press buttons intensively while switching Tricolor TV channels.
  4. Having to get very close to the TV to change the program.
  5. The remote control does not work from time to time.

Tricolor: the receiver does not respond to the remote control - what to do and how to fix it

Any model of set-top box issued when connecting to the Tricolor TV service package is controlled using a remote control.

If the boot light on the receiver is on, but pressing the corresponding keys on the remote control does not activate it, the reasons may be the following:

  • you have exceeded the maximum possible distance between the remote control and the device;
  • the battery needs to be replaced, which makes signal transmission impossible;
  • The remote control was subjected to physical impact and failed.

Transmitting a signal using the remote control requires maintaining a distance from the TV. The device must be aimed at the set-top box, and the receiver itself must not be filled with third-party objects. If repeated attempts to turn on the receiver, change the channel or enter the menu are unsuccessful, the problem may be a low battery. Replace the battery with a new one, following the instructions for removing and reinstalling it. If the problem persists, there is likely physical damage to the remote control and its failure. There are universal solutions that allow you to control a variety of receiver models. You can buy such a remote control at the nearest operator service office or through third-party services.

A problem with the operation of the receiver is rarely associated with a malfunction of the remote control. Let's take a closer look at the third-party reasons why the Tricolor receiver does not work.

Freezes after changing software

The Tricolor provider is constantly improving its encoding systems and signal transmission standards in order to offer subscribers the best picture quality. This leads to new software versions being released for the receiving equipment. Almost every Tricolor set-top box must sooner or later undergo a firmware update procedure.

In some cases, after installing a new set of software, it is not possible to switch channels or receive any other response from the remote control . There is a simple solution to this problem. Necessary:

  • on the receiver, which is in operating mode, simultaneously hold down the TV/RADIO buttons and go to the channel above (Channel +);
  • Without releasing the button, press the Power key to enter standby mode.

Important! These instructions are suitable for set-top boxes that have control buttons on the front panel. These are quite old models.

On new receivers, the problem with the remote control turning off after a firmware update is very rare. If it does occur, you should reboot the receiver by turning off its power and unplugging the plug from the outlet.

Operation of the Tricolor kit without a remote control

It is not possible to turn on and use the Tricolor equipment without the receiver's remote control, since the TV remote control in this case is used only to turn it on and off.

You can switch Tricolor TV channels and use other necessary functions of the equipment only with the help of the receiver and the remote control supplied with it.

We recommend reading about the Tricolor game console.

If the Tricolor TV remote control has stopped working, the user has several ways to solve the problem. You can try to solve the problem yourself by replacing batteries or faulty parts, or cleaning. If the Tricolor remote control does not respond to the tuner in case of problems with the software, you can contact the official dealer over the phone or in person and try to fix the problem. If all of the above steps do not lead to success, there is a need to purchase a new remote control.

How to switch channels on a set-top box without a remote control, control any devices from any phone

See the background here:

This way you can control any devices, with any phone that can play a sound file.

See also this entry if you need ready-made audio signals from any remote control:

An application for Android was found to control the set-top box (you can also NOT control it from a smartphone, read about this at the end of the article) - irplus WAVE

You can download from the GooglePlay website:

This is an application that, using an audio signal, generates the required frequency to send commands to the infrared receiver of the device. Simple circuits from the Internet in which IR LEDs are connected towards each other and soldered to a 3.5 mm plug, then inserted into the phone - did not work, because all phones have different voltage output to the 3.5 mm jack - on many phones - such a simple circuit will not work.

Here is this connection that does not work on many phones and smartphones:

A temporary solution was found - to amplify the signal using an Operational Amplifier (OP-Amp) - LM324N.

Two IR LEDs are used to generate a signal with a frequency of 38 kHz, which the audio output is not capable of. The frequency of one and the second LED is 19 kHz, for a total of 38 - what is needed. Infrared LEDs can be removed from unnecessary remote controls.

Reinforcement circuit (the circuit does not pretend to be correct, this circuit is a temporary version of a quick solution - here and now, so that it can be assembled as quickly as possible and have as few connections as possible):

Separate resistors for LEDs are not needed, since the current is limited through the input signal and the microcircuit itself. In addition, some IR LEDs can withstand pulsed current up to 1 Ampere! (they will burn out from a direct current of such strength).

The outputs of the LM324N operational amplifier chip—Output 1 and Output 2—are connected to the positive terminal of the Infrared LEDs.

Please note that IR LEDs may glow continuously (you can see the glow through the camera)

The device is ready, with an optional switch and LED added to indicate that the power is on. You can use a CR2032 battery as a power source - it has just the required minimum number of volts.

This solution can only operate in close proximity to the device, almost right next to each other (also, a command to the device can only work after many attempts). In extreme, urgent, emergency cases and when the remote control is needed only once - a very good solution, for lack of a more accessible and worthy alternative.

Some phones may not see such a device, so that the phone understands that a “headset” is connected to it, it is necessary to use some kind of resistor, for example 40-100 Ohms - close the Ground (GND) and the right channel, shorting the left one may not work. Also, if you remove the resistor - the headset is no longer “seen” by the phone, to prevent this from happening, you need to short-circuit the ground and the right channel with a resistor, turn on any sound, and remove the resistor during playback - the phone will continue to “see the headset.” You can also simply solder the resistor to avoid unnecessary movements.

Is it possible to do without a remote control?

If the steps considered do not produce results, and the Tricolor console does not respond, the question arises whether it is possible to do without remote control. Owners of modern models should not have any difficulties, because they have a full set of necessary buttons at their disposal. If they are missing, you can use the Remote.Tricolor application for a phone that connects via Wi-Fi.

The situation is more complicated when the tuner does not have the ability to connect to the Internet or additional interfaces. In this case, the only way out is to buy a new control panel.

Now you know what to do if the Tricolor console does not respond to the remote control. Start by checking the remote control itself, change the batteries, and clean the device (if necessary). Next, check the correct mode on the tuner itself. If all else fails, you may need to replace the remote control or contact a service center if the problem is a faulty tuner.

The device is in special modes

If the Tricolor receiver does not respond to a remote control that is in working condition, you should check its operating mode.

To avoid accidental channel switching or other unwanted actions, for example by a child, the remote control can be protected by turning on “Standby Mode”. To return to operating mode, press the “STANDBY” button.

There is also a button responsible for the “HDMI” mode. It is used when connecting a special cable for this mode. Provided that the cable is not connected and the button is accidentally pressed, the Tricolor remote control will not change channels. To cancel this mode, simply press the indicated button a second time.

The problem is in the receiver itself

It also happens that the remote control is fine, it sends signals and works perfectly with other set-top boxes. Then the receiver itself may be to blame for the fact that the Tricolor receiver does not respond to pressing the remote control buttons.

No power connection

It often happens that subscribers are waiting for a picture to appear on the TV screen, while the set-top box itself is not connected to the power supply. Therefore, the first thing you need to do is make sure that its plug is inserted into a working outlet, the cord is not damaged or pinched, and the plug from the power supply fits tightly into the socket. Next, you need to look at the indicators and display (if available) located on the front panel of the device.

Wrong input option selected

This “disease” is a common occurrence in receivers with old remote controls that have an “In” button. signal". They press it inadvertently or out of curiosity (which is not necessary), they mistake the Tricolor TV remote control - it’s supposedly broken, and they rush to take it in for repairs.

In this case, you need to pay attention to the indicator around the large power key. In normal condition, it should glow halfway, with the lower part responsible for the HDMI connection and the upper part for the “tulips”. All that remains is to check which cable is used to connect the TV to the receiver. If the wrong option is selected, you need to press the same button on the remote control again and wait a little.

"Glitch" in the program

To be honest, this also happens with receivers from the largest satellite operator. If the remote control for the Tricolor set-top box functions intermittently - the volume control button or channel switching button does not work - resetting the settings to factory settings usually helps. It would be a good idea to check that the software is up to date and update the receiver to a new version.

Standby mode enabled

In this case, the LED lights up red rather than green, and the display (if equipped) shows hours and minutes. It is necessary to put the receiver into operating mode, that is, press the StandBy button on the panel or remote control of the device.

Receiver cannot boot

This is another reason why the Tricolor receiver does not respond to the remote control. The problem will be indicated by eights or zeros glowing on the display. “It is treated” by briefly (for a couple of minutes) disconnecting the set-top box from the network.

Advice: if none of the proposed recommendations help, the receiver must be taken for diagnostics and repair (or alternatively, replacement) to the service center of the Tricolor TV dealer company.

Wrong mode selected

If, after turning on the set-top box, no picture appears on the screen, channels do not switch, and there is no response to the remote control buttons, the receiver may be in the wrong mode. This means that the user accidentally changed the device's outputs. As a result, the TV does not receive a signal.

  • How to fix problems with the TV remote control. The TV does not respond to the remote control - what to do?

The set mode in modern models of receivers is indicated by a light indicator located around the large power button on the body. It flickers at the top if the signal is output to analog tulips. The glow of the lower semicircle indicates that the HDMI interface is working.

The user only needs to check which cables are connected to the TV and change the receiver mode to the correct output. How to do this is described in detail in the operating instructions for the specific device model.

What to do if the receiver freezes when watching TV channels and does not respond to pressing the remote control buttons

The remote control itself may fail or the element receiving the signal may break down. Actions to take if there is a problem:

  • Reboot the receiver by disconnecting from the network for a while;
  • If there are buttons on the device, try turning on TV channels using them;
  • Swap the batteries in the remote control;
  • Check the battery charge;
  • If the receiver is controlled from buttons on the case, then it is worth disassembling the remote control and cleaning the internal elements.

The enabled HDMI control function can also affect how the remote control turns off. The operation is performed by pressing the remote control button (INPUT, HDMI).

In what cases can the Tricolor receiver freeze?

A prolonged lack of response when pressing the receiver control buttons indicates a freezing process. The state begins to irritate the user when switching channels, changing the sound level, or adjusting the menu. Often the situation gets worse and it is impossible to control the device. The reasons for freezing are the following conditions:

  • The firmware software contains a bug;
  • The firmware version does not match the receiver model;
  • The update occurred with an error;
  • The device is subject to overheating;
  • Malfunction of the constituent elements.

How to do without a remote device?

If the remote control is sent for repair or the purchase of a new device is postponed for some time, a reasonable question arises: how to watch TV without it. The task of how to turn on the Tricolor receiver without a remote control is as easy as shelling pears. The “STANDBY” button, which provides a transition from sleep mode to working mode (or on/off, in simple terms), is also on the set-top box. All you have to do is press it (the LED will turn green) and the picture will appear.

But managing the display is more complicated. The fact is that only some receivers have keys for switching channels and adjusting the sound on the front panel:

  • DTS-53/54;
  • GS E521L and E212, E501 and E502;
  • GS U210, U210CL, U510;
  • GS A230;
  • on most older models, which today the operator is actively changing.

But even these set-top boxes do not have a “Menu” button, which allows you to search for channels. So it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to set up a show from scratch without the Tricolor remote control.

Several years ago, the company tried to introduce a virtual analogue of the remote control. Mobile application “Remote. Tricolor" was released in 2014 and is designed to provide easy control of satellite set-top boxes from smartphones. For various reasons, it was not approved by users and mentions of it practically disappeared from the Internet.

If the Tricolor receiver does not turn on - what to do?

In all other cases, when the Tricolor receiver says boot and does not turn on, you should immediately seek help from specialists. To do this, you should call the TV provider’s contact center by calling the service phone 8

.

Support operators will definitely try to help restore the broadcast and find out why there is no signal. But before that, they will check the identity of the caller, specifying the service agreement number and the person’s passport details. More information on the portal - tricolor-lk.online.

In a conversation with consultants, viewers have the opportunity to find out the exact address of the nearest service center where they can return the equipment for repairs, or order a visit from a TV technician. After that, all that remains is to discuss a convenient time for the visit and wait for a professional. He will definitely figure out the reasons for the lack of TV and do everything necessary to restore the operation of the equipment.

Does the Tricolor receiver say boot and won’t turn on? Problems with technology arise frequently. Any receiver has a complex design; it may well fail for various reasons.

Today Tricolor is one of the major satellite television operators. It offers a wide range of services, many channels. The company sells its own equipment, which has the best compatibility.

If you wish, you can buy equipment from a third-party manufacturer. But then it is far from a fact that it will work fully. You will have to do some preliminary setup, a lot depends on your luck.

But even with the original device, problems may arise in the future. There are many reasons for them, including equipment breakdown, incorrect settings, etc. Therefore, it is worth understanding all the nuances in detail.

Let us say right away that all information presented in the article is general and is intended for informational purposes only. You can fix minor problems yourself, but if you can’t do this, then under no circumstances try to disassemble the device - call a specialist!

What are the dangers of self-repair?

  • You lose the warranty if the commitment period has not yet expired.
  • Equipment can be easily damaged. One wrong move, and instead of a specific element you will have to change the entire board, which will cost a huge amount.
  • Most people do not have special knowledge and equipment. Therefore, pinpointing the root cause is problematic.

If the operation of the device is not restored after basic manipulations, then do not try to fix the breakdown yourself by disassembling and replacing components. Call a specialist if you don’t want to spend significantly more money on restoration in the future!

What to do if the receiver often freezes - defective or bad software

Often, after updating the firmware, the user is faced with the problem of loss of signal quality or freezing of control processes. The solution to the issue involves resetting the receiver settings to the factory level:

  • In the main Menu, click on the “Settings” section;
  • Some models require opening the “Settings” item, other devices allow you to carry out the operation by clicking on the “About” item;
  • If required to enter a security code, enter “0000”;
  • Select the “Reset settings” command;
  • Perform auto search for TV channels.

Defective software leads to unstable operation of sound and video. Perhaps the firmware loads the receiver system, complicating all operations. If resetting the settings to the factory level does not help, then if you have a warranty card, you must contact a service center. Employees will install a different version of the update. The completed warranty period implies repairs for a fee or exchange of equipment from the provider.

When freezes appear after the receiver has been dropped, the cause of the condition is physical damage. Freezing of the picture feed is due to a weak signal level. It is worth changing the position of the antenna and adjusting the TV signal quality scale.

Self-repair - what the subscriber needs to know

If you are sure that you do not want to seek help from the proper services and are confident that you can handle the repair yourself, then you will need to learn about a few icons. You will need them if you start disassembling the inside of the application device.

Icon #1: Orange triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle

This icon is called "Security". If you see it next to any parts or assemblies, it means that their performance is very important for the proper operation of the receiver. Therefore, you need to act with them as carefully as possible.

Icon No. 2: a yellow triangle with a lightning bolt in the middle

This icon is called "Danger". That is, it seems to warn you of possible danger. If you do not act according to the established rules and instructions, then it is quite possible that you will cause serious damage not only to your body, but to your life in general.
