Satellite television clients who are connected to one or another provider are often interested in how to make sure that Tricolor and NTV Plus are on the same plate. To do this, you need to purchase a special device: an offset plate and a mount for 2 heads (converters with two outputs). Let's look at the detailed instructions further.
What's the secret
Many users believe that the NTV Plus package must include a satellite dish. And the last one, by the way, is only one part of the entire set of equipment for watching TV. The same applies to the operator Tricolor TV. It follows from this that the main component of the transmission package for a particular operator is not the dish, but the receiver. Since NTV Plus has a satellite signal in Viaccess encoding, the service can only be activated with the “native” receivers of this provider. Therefore, a justified choice would be an NTV Plus receiver, and not an NTV Plus antenna. And although there is no special antenna for viewing the channels of a particular operator, there is still a slight difference between the dishes. But more on that later.
Antenna Features
The Tricolor and NTV plus antennas have several features:
- converter polarization;
- antenna diameter.
If we connect another package of services to an existing Tricolor satellite dish - TV channels from the operator NTV Plus, then for this we need a circular polarization head (converter) and an antenna with a diameter of 60 cm. But if you are going to use the antenna all year round and be sure that no a thunderstorm, neither snow nor strong wind will interfere with viewing some channels, then it is worth purchasing a dish with a diameter of 80-90 cm.
Another feature of the NTV Plus and Tricolor satellite dishes is their polarization. It is circular for both. Heads with linear polarization are not suitable for viewing NTV Plus or Tricolor TV channels. Thus, the satellite dishes of these operators can be considered interchangeable. The only difference is the Tricolor operator. Its official representatives recommend installing an antenna with a diameter of 55 cm. But this implies the lowest coverage. If you want to watch programs in any weather, then it is better to play it safe and buy a larger dish.
Broadcasting from these providers allows you to connect to Tricolor and NTV Plus television simultaneously through one satellite.
Overview of satellite companies
To give preference to any one provider, you need to know their features.
Tricolor
The company offers its customers a basic package of channels for 1,200 rubles per year. You cannot pay for the “Unified” package monthly. Additional packages, such as “Night” or “Children’s”, can be purchased for a month. The provider also broadcasts 20 channels in HD format.
Picture and sound quality
According to experts, the picture quality of Tricolor TV is inferior to the NTV+ provider, since the broadcast occurs from a satellite of lower quality.
Main advantages
- HD quality channels (20).
- Many TV channels in the main package.
- Offers and promotions.
- 24/7 technical support.
- Good picture and sound quality.
Minuses
- There is no possibility of monthly payment for the “Unified” package.
- There is no “Service Suspension” function.
- In bad weather, the image may be scattered and there may be no signal.
NTV PLUS
The provider offers its users monthly payment, the cost depends on the selected services. It is possible to pause the operator's television broadcast. The list of packages is constantly updated; the full list is available on the company’s official website.
Advantages
- Convenience of payment.
- Option “Stop services”.
- Additional services.
- Image quality.
- Well-established service department.
Minuses
- Small list of HD channels (5).
- Frequent reminders to pay for services.
Most users identify the NTV PLUS
with
a satellite dish
, which is only part of the entire set of equipment for connecting to a given operator.
The same applies to other satellite TV operators - Tricolor, Platform HD, Rainbow TV and others. Hence, people often ask and search for “ NTV PLUS antenna
” or “
Tricolor antenna
”.
So, first of all, let’s note that in the NTV PLUS satellite television set, the “main thing” is rather the satellite receiver, rather than the antenna
: since NTV PLUS has a satellite signal in its own Viaccess encoding, you can connect NTV PLUS with “branded” receivers of this company* . Therefore, it would be more justified to say “NTV PLUS receiver” rather than “NTV PLUS antenna”.
So, our special satellite dishes for NTV PLUS
No.
Although satellite dishes
for receiving the NTV PLUS signal have their own characteristics, we will deal with them.
Two features of the NTV PLUS antenna are the diameter of the antenna and the polarization of the converter
To connect your receiver to NTV PLUS you need:
- standard satellite dish
a diameter
of 60 cm. - circular
converter (“head”)
Officially recommended diameter of the NTV PLUS satellite dish
-
60 cm
.
However, satellite dishes of this diameter often turn out to be weak for receiving the NTV PLUS satellite signal. Problems most often arise with channels broadcast in MPEG-4 format - for example, the channels of the NTV PLUS Light package are broadcast in MPEG-4 format and it may turn out that you will not be able to connect this package at all. In bad weather conditions - rain, thunderstorm - a satellite dish
with a diameter of
0.60 m
may lose the signal, or the signal will be weak and the picture on the TV will freeze.
To avoid these problems, we always recommend that customers install a satellite dish
with a diameter of
80x90 cm
. - with such a dish you will receive a guarantee that there will be no problems with a weak signal and image freezes in the future.
Another feature of the NTV PLUS satellite antenna that customers should pay attention to is the polarization for the satellite converter. Only circular polarization converters are suitable for NTV PLUS antennas. Linear polarization converters are not suitable for NTV PLUS antennas.
NTV PLUS antenna and Tricolor antenna
It is also useful to know that the antenna converter for Tricolor TV also has circular polarization. At the same time, both satellite operators broadcast from one Eutelsat W4 36.0°E satellite. Thus the antennas for
NTV PLUS and Tricolor TV are completely interchangeable, if you do not take into account the diameter - for Tricolor TV the officially recommended diameter is 55 cm. But here, as in the case of NTV PLUS antennas, the recommended diameter may often not be enough and it is recommended to install antennas with a diameter of 60 cm to avoid problems with a weak signal.
Broadcasting of these operators from one satellite and the same circular polarization allows you to connect to satellite television NTV PLUS and Tricolor TV simultaneously.
To connect to NTV PLUS and Tricolor from one antenna you need:
- install a satellite dish with a diameter of 0.80m
- We install a converter with two outputs on the antenna - twin-converter
- adjust the antenna to the Eutelsat W4 36.0°E
- run a cable from each to two receivers - for NTV PLUS and Tricolor TV, respectively.
We emphasize: there will be no freebies - satellite television from a specific operator (NTV PLUS) and a satellite dish are not the same thing. To connect to NTV PLUS and Tricolor, in any case, you will have to purchase a receiver kit with a subscription agreement and an access card - about 7400 and 8500 rubles. for each respectively. Two sets, even with one antenna, will cost you more than one (Captain Medvedev!). A satellite dish with a converter is the cheapest element in the kit - about 1000 rubles.
However, simultaneous connection to both operators using one satellite dish has its advantages:
saving
(albeit small) on the cost of an additional antenna,
saving
space and preserving the aesthetics of your home
saving
on paying for the services of the company installing the antenna - installing one antenna (3000 rubles), instead of two (6000 rubles).
Restrictions on using the NTV PLUS satellite dish
We found out two features of satellite antennas for NTV PLUS and some of their advantages. But there are also limitations imposed by these features.
Everything is very simple:
-most satellite operators broadcast from satellites in linear polarization -most satellites produce a weaker signal and therefore require the use of satellite antennas larger than 60-80cm. diameter
Therefore, you cannot use an antenna for NTV PLUS to receive a signal, say, from the Hotbird satellite, for two reasons at once - the converter is required for linear rather than circular polarization, the diameter of the NTV antenna is not enough to catch the signal from the Hotbird satellite.
But it doesn't matter. You can use one antenna and several converters - one of them will be circularly polarized for the NTV PLUS satellite, the rest of the converters will be linearly polarized. If in the future you intend to connect to other satellite television operators broadcasting from other satellites in addition to NTV PLUS, you need to provide for this possibility in advance. To do this, you can install a satellite dish with a diameter of 90 cm (more is possible, because some satellites require a diameter of up to 1.20 cm), install a multifeed on the antenna - a special holder, with the ability to install several converters on one antenna. Install a circular polarization converter on one of the multifeed compartments and tune the antenna to the NTV PLUS satellite - Eutelsat W4 36.0°. In the future, to connect to other satellites, you will simply need to install an additional converter on the satellite dish and tune it to the corresponding satellite. Note that the farther (in degrees) the satellites are from each other, the more difficult it will be to catch a signal from them on one antenna with a multifeed, and vice versa. For example, the 31.5°E Astra 1G satellite has a difference with the NTV satellite Eutelsat W4 36.0° of only 5 degrees, and here everything will be simple. But the Yamal 201 90.0°E satellite is further away, and it’s already difficult to tune in to it...
* You can connect to NTV PLUS using “third-party” receivers: for this, the receiver must have a slot for embedding a cam module that supports Viaccess encoding. But for NTV PLUS HD there are no cam modules, so you will have to use only officially supplied NTV PLUS receivers
Television has not lost popularity since its inception and remains a relevant way of spending time. Question for choosing a satellite television operator: “Tricolor or NTV plus: which is better in 2021?” relevant for many subscribers who have not yet made their choice. Both representatives are the largest and most sought-after companies covering the entire territory of Russia. Although NTV was the first to enter this business, Tricolor successfully competed and offered users unique opportunities at a lower price. The race of technologies and services between companies continues to this day. This material will help you objectively decide on the choice of whose services are better in 2021.
How to connect two operators at the same time
Do you want tricolor and NTV plus to be on the same plate? Then remember what to do:
- We install a satellite dish with a diameter of 60 cm.
- We attach a converter with 2 outputs to the antenna.
- We set up the dish for the Eutelsat W4 36.0°E satellite signal.
- From each output of the converter you need to run a cable to the receivers of the operators.
If you connect to satellite television from two providers at once, do not expect that you will save much. You don’t have to pay for just one antenna out of two complete sets, or for installing an additional antenna, which, by the way, is not so cheap - 3 thousand rubles. In addition, you will save space, which means the aesthetic appearance will be better with one antenna than with two. So there are still advantages. But the agreement will have to be concluded with two network operators at once.
Instructions
- Install a satellite dish, the larger the diameter, the better. A large dish allows you to watch television in good quality under any adverse conditions.
- A convector having two outlets is screwed to the plate.
- Configure the equipment to receive the Eutelsat W4 360E signal.
- From each output on the dish, stretch a cord to the receivers of the providers.
- Connect cables to receivers.
Setting up receivers
Go to the antenna settings menu, both receivers have this section, the only difference is in the design. Configure parameters:
- frequency – 11977;
- flow rate – 27500;
Such parameters are set both on the Tricolor TV set-top box and on the NTV receiver.
What to do if the antenna does not infuse?
Make sure that there is no obstacle to the passage of the satellite, check that all connections are securely fastened.
Tricolor subscribers have access to the “Teleinstructor” channel, which broadcasts a video on how to set up and connect equipment to watch satellite television from two companies from one antenna.
Setting up channels
The subscriber needs to go to the “Channel” section and select the “Antenna” tab. Enter the PIN code, which consists of four zeros (if the user has not changed the password). In the window that opens, uncheck all satellites available for broadcasting.
At the next stage you need to install the transponder, parameters: 121 30, LNB level (10750/0). Save all entered data, go to the “Manual setup” menu, select transponder parameters and set a network search. At the end of the operation, all available TV channels are added to the list, save them.
Tricolor TV channels are installed according to a similar scheme. In the “MENU” section, select the “SETUP” sub-item, enter the code – four zeros. After opening the “Factory settings” tab, confirm the selection by pressing the red key on the control panel. The tuner will display instructions for scanning channels; when the search is complete, click save.
Can I install an additional network myself?
If you want to install additional channels yourself and, suppose, you already have a satellite dish broadcasting from Tricolor TV. When purchasing an additional circular polarization head with two outputs for your antenna, you need to purchase an RG6 television cable and two connectors for it to connect it to the head. You don't need any special knowledge or antenna retuning. All that needs to be done is to secure the converter clockwise, focusing on the readings of the quality scale on the receiver.
Digital terrestrial television
This alternative option is the most suitable for those who do not want to pay additional fees for services and take into account other features of the satellite broadcast operator.
Subscribers get access to 20 channels that broadcast in high quality. There is no additional payment for services from the client.
The signal will be received by a regular terrestrial antenna. The signal is processed by a DVB-T2 tuner. It is built into most modern TV models by default. If there is no tuner, you can buy it separately, this is possible using a special cord.
