How to download an IPTV playlist for SS and set up channels, what if it doesn’t work

New technologies make television even better and more accessible. The new product is called IPTV or Internet television. It allows you to use the Internet to get high-quality television, which is in many ways superior to its more popular counterparts. But users are used to them. As, for example, this happened with Tricolor TV.

Viewers like this provider, but for some reason they cannot receive their package of services in the usual way. In this case, it becomes possible to connect an IPTV playlist. It is in no way inferior in quality to the usual methods of receiving content via a satellite dish and additional equipment. But now it has become much easier, because in order to use Tricolor, you need to have access to the Internet and a stable network in order to get a high-quality picture. And of course, be sure to download the working playlist.

IPTV Forever

Of course, I decided to start the list with my playlist. The playlist has been running 24/7 since the beginning of 2021 and to this day I update it regularly. Thanks to you and your comments, I was able to improve it. Thank you very much for your comments and links to the channels you share.

There are currently 3 versions of the playlist available:

  1. General playlist that contains Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and other channels: https://iptvm3u.ru/list.m3u
  2. Playlist of Russian channels - https://iptvm3u.ru/listru.m3u
  3. Playlist with channels for adults - https://iptvm3u.ru/list18.m3u

All 3 sources contain the same links, 2 just have channels from other countries cut out, and 3 are 1 + adult channels.

I also recommend the private playlist of this blog, everything is very cool there:

Launching SS IPTV from USB Flash Drive and problems

Sometimes installation and configuration are easier to do from a flash drive. Using a PC, we find the SS IPTV file on the official website using a search. Download to a USB drive.

When the download is complete, the archive is unpacked onto a flash drive. Now we install the USB drive into the TV. The drive and software should be automatically recognized. A corresponding entry will appear in the “My Apps” tab.

If playback does not work, but TV channels are displayed, you need to do the following. You must enable UDP Proxy in your router settings. At the same time, you should check which port number is set and the IP address assigned (the first one needs to be changed from “4022” to “1234”).

The player is a VideoLAN VLC shell

What is IPTV

IPTV (aka DVB-IP or TVoIP) does NOT mean

"television broadcasting via the Internet."
The beginning of this abbreviation, IP, only means that this data transfer protocol is used (in this particular case, for transmitting video content), but the entire system is not connected with the World Wide Web in absolutely anything. The IPTV service is provided to you by YOUR PROVIDER
, i.e. the company that installed a network cable (Ethernet) into your apartment or installed an ADSL modem. IPTV is similar to regular cable television, only it comes into the house not via a coaxial cable, but via the same channel as the Internet (ADSL modem or Ethernet). If your provider does not provide such a service or provides it only through a set-top box and does not publish a list of channels, then you do not need a player.

IPTV is the broadcast of channels (usually received from satellites), mainly in MPEG2/MPEG4 formats over the provider’s transport network, followed by viewing on a computer or a special set-top box (Set-Top Box).

Some providers use stream encryption so that certain channels can only be watched through a set-top box using an identification card or PIN code; the player will not be able to play such a stream. If the provider sells the service only

together with the set-top box and encrypts the channels, then the player will also be useless for you.

Network settings

Almost all firewalls, such as Agnitum Outpost and Kaspersky Internet Security, block IPTV (multicast) by default, as they consider it an attack. In general, it is necessary to enable the IGMP protocol (connection management protocol to multicast groups) in the system rules and allow the player any TCP activity (for downloading channel lists and TV programs) and UDP activity (directly for IPTV).

If your computer has more than one network card or you are provided with Internet via VPN or PPPoE, you must specify a working network card in the player. Since IPTV is usually distributed locally, this will be a card with the address 192.168.*.*, 172.16.*.* or 10.*.*.*. When you first start the player, it will automatically select the first network card. You can change the network card like this: Settings → General → Network interface

.

Please note that the VPN or PPPoE connection raised over the local network does not need

(many providers write in their instructions that it is necessary to disable it - this is not so!), You just need to choose the right network interface.

On some networks, it is recommended to set the VLC network-caching (udp-caching) parameter to a special value. This is done like this: Settings → General → Cache (milliseconds)

Attention! Technical support for the IP television service MUST be provided to you by your provider, which is the supplier of this service. It is your provider who must ensure the correct configuration of your terminal equipment and network connection.

Record

Recording in IP-TV Player is truly a recording, that is, copying data received from the network to the hard drive with virtually no load on the processor. For comparison, in the case of a TV tuner, this is video encoding, and then recording, which creates a large load on the processor, memory, etc.

As a rule, modern IP-TV is encoded in the MPEG2 format, so the files obtained during recording are similar to VOB files from household DVDs. However, using the player you can watch and record any streams, such as Windows Media (mms), MP3 radio, etc. For different sources you need to use different formats (containers) of the final files.

Set in Settings → General → Recording container format

So, for IPTV in MPEG2 you need to use the PS

- you will get files with the MPG extension, similar to VOBs from DVDs.
They can be played by players such as PowerDVD, Media Player Classic, etc. You can convert them to AVI (DivX/XviD encoding) using programs such as DVD-to-AVI, Gordian Knot, AutoGK and others designed to convert DVD to AVI. You can cut, for example, advertising from MPG and save it without
recoding using the programs AviDemux, Free Video Dub, VideoReDo.
do video editing with
transcoding in VirtualDub-MPEG2, AviDemux, Mpeg Video Wizard DVD, Canopus ProCoder, Adobe Premiere Pro, Edius and others.
For IPTV in H264/AVC it is better to use the TS
.

The IPTV-MPEG2 stream is usually 5-6 MBit/s thick, which is about 2.5 GB/hour, H264 (SD) 2-4 MBit/s.

To record a stream with multiple audio tracks or if using TS

files are damaged (no sound/video), you should use the
DUMP
.

Channel list - M3U format

Channel list example:

#EXTM3U #EXTINF:-1, Channel One udp://@224.10.10.1:8001 #EXTINF:-1, TVC Siberia udp://@224.10.10.2:8002 #EXTINF:-1.7 TV udp:// @224.10.10.3:8003 #EXTINF:-1,A-One udp://@224.10.10.4:8004 #EXTINF:-1,REN TV udp://@224.10.10.5:8005

#EXTVLCOPT directives are not supported!

Well, everything is clear here. I would like to note that it is recommended to give the channels the correct names (for example, the ORT channel is correctly called “First Channel”, and “RTR” is “Russia”) and in Russian, and not in transliteration. This is important so that the player automatically associates logos and TV program files with the channels.

The encoding can be ANSI or UTF8, the player can load lists from a file or via http, https, ftp protocols.

It is recommended to use the extended channel list format with settings.

TV program - JTV, XMLTV and others formats

JTV

The JTV format appeared in the program of the same name by Polish developer Jaroslaw Kowalski for TV tuners based on bt8x8 chips. This is a binary format, the JTV TV program database is usually a ZIP or RAR archive containing pairs of files (NDX and PDT extension) for each TV channel. A new database is usually released every week on Mondays. The format does not contain time zone information, so you must check the current TV program time zone on the source website. The JTV format is mainly widespread in the territory of the former USSR, where the program of the same name was popular in 2000-2003. Currently, the most popular software that uses the JTV format is software for Beholder and GotView tuners.

Example of a JTV source - https://www.teleguide.info/download/new3/jtv.zip (Moscow time)

Developers can understand the JTV format by checking out GuideGen (JTV generation from text in C++ and PHP)

If you generate a TV program yourself, especially on a Linux server, then keep in mind that it is not at all necessary to give the files names in Russian. You can use transliteration or numbering or some other identifiers, the main thing is to link them to the corresponding channel via tvg-name.

XMLTV

A TV program in XMLTV format is an XML file, optionally packaged in an archive. A description of the format is available on xmltv.org.

Attention!

XMLTV timestamps contain the time zone! This means that when displaying time, the current time zone selected in the user's operating system settings is automatically taken into account.

Limitations: letter designations of time zones are not supported (±HHmm only), only the start time (start), transmission title (title) and description (desc, only if it contains simple text) are used.

If the XMLTV file is packaged in an archive other than GZ, then it must be the only file in the archive with the XML extension.

TXT file, the format is known as ListTV/TV.ALL/Inter-TV. The first line of the file must be “tv.all”. If a TXT file is packaged in an archive, it must be the only file in the archive with the TXT extension.

Option 2. Archive with TXT files, one per channel (similar to JTV). Multiple date/time formats are supported (for example, “yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm transmission” or divided by day: once “yyyy-MM-dd” and then a block “HH:mm transmission”)

Archives

The player can unpack ZIP and GZ formats independently. To unpack RAR/7Z, you must have WinRAR or 7-Zip installed on your systems.

Setting up the player from scratch (if you only have a list of channels)

Empty profile” as a preset

“, somehow download the channel list via
Settings → General → Channel list address
(from a website or from a file). If necessary, first edit the channel list using Notepad, following the recommendations described above.

Take your time to start watching channels!

First, in
Settings → Channel,
set the default parameters (will be applied to all channels), for example, for IPTV Deinterlace Blend, Aspect Ratio 4:3, etc.
Having selected the defaults, click the Apply
and
Close
the settings dialog.

Select in the Menu TV program → Automatic tuning

— the player will try to select the most suitable logos and TV program files for all channels in turn. After completing the auto-tuning, go through all the channels and correct errors, if necessary, select the appropriate audio tracks.

For providers → Build distribution

You can independently assemble a player distribution containing your settings and logos, and offer it to your company’s subscribers absolutely free!

Configuration

In accordance with the format description, generate a channel list file and upload it to your web server (in the example below https://your.server/your_channel_list.m3u

).
Build
Download the distribution builder, create a folder (name for example Custom

) with the structure described below. Launch the collector and point it to this folder.

  • Custom\Provider.ini
    - required, settings file
  • Custom\Setup.bmp
    - optional, large installer logo (left), bmp format, size 164x314
  • Custom\Setup.ico
    - optional, installer icon (in the window title, on the taskbar)
  • Custom\*.js
    - optional, JavaScript modules
  • Custom\Images\App.ico
    - optional, player icon (in the window title, on the taskbar, on shortcuts)
  • Custom\Images\Logo.png
    - optional, logo in the center of the player screen
  • Custom\Images\Loading.png
    - optional, player loading splash screen
  • Custom\Icons\*.*
    - optional, additional channel icons, format png/jpg/gif/bmp, size 24x24, file names must match the channel names in your list

Ready! Don't forget to periodically update your distribution.

Manual assembly (old method)

Download the “SFXs for installers” package from the website 7-zip.org and unpack it, for example, into the C:\7zip folder, download the latest version of the player and name the file Setup.exe

.
Create a folder (for example C:\IPTV) and place Setup.exe in it, next to it create a Custom
with the structure described above. You'll get something like this:

  • Custom\
    - for our example this will be C:\IPTV\Custom\
  • Custom\Provider.ini
    and other files
  • Setup.exe
    - downloaded player distribution

Collect a self-extracting archive using 7zip:

cd C:\IPTV C:\7zip\7zR.exe a -sfx7zS2.sfx IpTvPlayer-setup.exe Setup.exe Custom

To get on the list of providers

, which is loaded when installing the original player distribution, send us a letter with the address of the list of channels, be sure to be from your company’s corporate domain.

For providers → Channel list format with settings

You can add the necessary settings for the player to the channel list, in which case the file will look like this:

#EXTM3U General settings #EXTINF:-1 Channel 1 settings ,Channel 1 channel-address-1 #EXTINF:-1 Channel 2 settings ,Channel 2 channel-address-2

The encoding can be ANSI or UTF8.

Inserts with settings should look like: parameter1=value1 parameter2=value2...

Options for general settings:

  • url-tvg
    — address of the archive with the TV program (several addresses separated by commas are possible)
  • cache
    — cache value (Settings → General → Cache)
  • reportstat
    — script address for collecting browsing statistics
  • reportlog
    — script address for collecting logs
  • url-m3u
    - new address of the channel list (use for mass change of address in subscribers' players)
  • tvg-logo
    - link template for installing logos of all channels at once (variables are supported: %name% - url-coded channel name in lower case, %tvg% - tvg-name/tvg-id value of the channel, %num% - channel number, for example ,
    https://your-server/logos/%name%.png
    )
  • url-scrlogo
    - png/jpg/gif/bmp image address for the logo in the center of the screen, recommended size 200-300px for a black background (v48 and higher)
  • nameaskey
    — (0/1) use the channel name as a key field for saving settings, rather than its address (use in dynamically generated lists)
  • numwzero
    - (0/1) add zeros before short channel numbers, for example, 001, 002, ... (v50.1 and higher)

Options for channel settings:

  • tvg-name
    /
    tvg-id
    — channel name/identifier in the TV program file (can be omitted if it matches the channel name; id takes precedence over name)
  • tvg-shift
    — time correction, in hours (…-2, -1, 0, +1, +2, …)
  • tvg-logo
    — image address png/jpg/gif/bmp (v8838 and higher) or the name of the channel logo from the built-in database or file name (
    without
extension!) from the Icons\*.png/jpg/gif/bmp folder (you don’t have to specify if it matches the channel name)
  • group-title
    — channel group title
  • deinterlace
    - deinterlace (0 - off, 1 - Blend, 2 - Mean, ...)
  • aspect-ratio
    - aspect ratio (None, 4:3, 16:9, ...)
  • croppadd
    — frame cropping
    horizontal x vertical
in pixels, for example, “15×10” (v48 and higher)
  • num
    — channel number (1-9999) in the provider’s broadcast network instead of the usual serial number (v50.1 and higher)

Any parameter for channels can be added to the general settings, then this parameter will apply to all channels. Channel settings have higher priority and override general ones, if specified. Settings from the channel list overwrite user settings if the channel name is changed.

Example:

#EXTM3U url-tvg=”https://server/jtv.zip” cache=500 deinterlace=1 aspect-ratio=4:3 croppadd=10×10 tvg-shift=0 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name=” First_channel" croppadd=16×8 group-title="Terrestrial channels" ,First channel udp://@239.1.1.1:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name="TV3″ tvg-shift=2 ,TV3 udp:/ /@239.1.1.2:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name=”Russia_Culture” tvg-logo=”Russia K” croppadd=16×8 ,Culture udp://@239.1.1.3:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg -name=”Expert TV” group-title=”Satellite” ,Expert TV udp://@239.1.1.4:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name=”Eurosport” aspect-ratio=16:9 ,Eurosport udp ://@239.1.1.5:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name=”Ru_TV” croppadd=15×10 ,RuTV udp://@239.1.1.6:5000 #EXTINF:-1 tvg-logo=”-Radio "group-title="Radio" ,Radio Club https://server:8000/club #EXTINF:-1 tvg-logo="-Radio" ,Radio-Trans https://server:8000/trance

For providers → Collecting channel viewing statistics and logs

Collecting channel viewing statistics
When collecting statistics, the player once every ~15 minutes generates a data packet in XML format, which reflects the time periods during which the user watched a particular channel. The data is sent using the POST method in the “postdata” variable; the response to a GET request can be anything. UserId is a unique user identifier generated by the player upon first launch, convenient as a key field if the provider uses dynamic addresses.
