Channels disappeared on Tricolor TV
There are several reasons why subscribers lose access to the system:
- External conditions. Communication with the satellite may be disrupted in unfavorable weather conditions. In this case, the signal may be interrupted or completely absent. The reason is the small diameter of the signal receiver. Most often, standard antennas with the same dimensions are used. To obtain a higher quality broadcast, it is recommended to purchase additional equipment.
- Poor system setup. The installation procedure should be trusted to experienced professionals. If the user decides to carry out the procedure independently, then there is a high risk that the system will not function correctly. This may be due not only to interference in the resulting image, but also to its complete absence.
- Obstacles on the ground. Some buildings or trees also interfere with the broadcast. In this case, the only option to improve the signal quality is to reinstall the antenna.
There may be no signal if the plate is icing. Please note that in some cases the cause is technical work being carried out on the satellite.
Why are some channels not shown on Tricolor?
If there is no signal at all, we are talking about mechanical damage to the external equipment. What could be the reason for the lack of access to some channels?
If only today Tricolor does not show several channels, then the reason may be as follows:
- No additional fees for some channels that are provided to subscribers who have paid for an additional subscription.
- The access card is not activated or is missing from the receiver.
- Equipment malfunction, which requires additional diagnostics.
What to do
What to do if there is no Tricolor TV signal at all? In this case, you need to call a company specialist who will carry out diagnostics and provide several options for correcting errors. If we are talking about technical malfunctions, then there is a need to replace equipment or reset system settings. If you do not have the opportunity to call a technician to your home, you can reset the settings yourself, returning them to the factory settings. After this, you should set it to automatically search for channels. In most cases, these actions are sufficient to restore access.
The following considerations should be taken into account:
- The set-top box responds to the OK button - install a satellite dish of a larger diameter or wait for weather conditions to improve. Review the settings and, if necessary, adjust them yourself or under the guidance of a specialist. Try to adjust the list of TV channels by manually editing the broadcast indicators. Check the integrity of the cable and the serviceability of the satellite converter and, if necessary, replace them.
- The set-top box does not respond to the OK button - the message in this case is sent not by the receiver, but by the TV. The reason most often lies in switching the wrong input on the television receiver. The activation of the input can be adjusted using the Source switch. When using the GS8306 model, the lack of signal is due to the inconvenient location of the switch, for example when cleaning. Equipment shutdown occurs. After switching the indicator, the system starts working properly again.
We should not forget about reasons such as the lack of activation of the Tricolor TV subscription. You can carry out the procedure by phone, through your personal account and in the company’s office. If the problem occurs during an active subscription, then factors such as the visibility of the SMART card and the correct operation of the built-in module should be examined.
"Tricolor TV" is now without sports. Gazprom Media lost access to 12.3 million viewers
We didn't agree.
From March 1, NJSC National Satellite Company (operating under the Tricolor TV trademark) will stop broadcasting channels distributed (part of the Gazprom-Media holding). For more than a month, the parties tried to agree on an extension of the current contract, but did not come to an agreement.
What does this mean? The sports channels “Match!” will disappear from the Tricolor package. Premier", "Match! Football 1", "Match! Football 2", "Match! Football 3", "Match! Fighter", "MATCH! Game", "Match! Country", "KHL" and their HD versions. Unspent money for paid access will be returned to clients’ personal accounts. The KHL has already warned viewers, the RPL is silent for now.
• After breaking the contract with NSC, Gazprom-Media lost 12.3 million people - that is, 27% of the audience of all pay TV in Russia. Tricolor itself says that the loss of sports content is bad, but it will not affect the majority of users.
“Television channels with movies and series are in great demand among Tricolor subscribers - their share ranges from 25% to 27%. Thematic television viewing - sports, music, travel - is gradually falling, says Nikolai Orlov, Deputy General Director for Content Policy at Tricolor.
In addition, NSC is negotiating with partners to launch new sports TV channels and increase the number of broadcasts on the Internet.
• “Tricolor” wanted to keep only sports channels, abandoning “A-Minor TV”, “Men’s Cinema” and the like - such content was watched by only 3% of the audience. At the same time, Gazprom sold the channels as a single package. The cost of broadcasting non-sports content is more than 50% of the entire contract value, and this was the main problem.
“We were ready to broadcast only sports channels that are truly valuable to our customers,” explains Orlov. – But it was not possible to agree on changes in packaging and division of content with the copyright holder. In addition, signing a new contract on Red Media terms could lead to an increase in the cost of subscriptions for our clients."
• The RNS news agency writes that Tricolor was considering the possibility of increasing the cost of broadcasting non-terrestrial Match! channels. But the company did not confirm this option.
• Red Media explains that individual conditions contradict a uniform pricing policy. Simply put, all companies on the market play by these rules.
• “Tricolor will complain: “We are preparing to defend our interests in regulatory authorities, considering the practice of imposing payment by the distributor for channels unnecessary to the operator in mandatory connection with its exclusive offer as an unfair use of its monopoly position in the market,” the company said in a statement.
• In October 2021, Fontanka reported that the companies were negotiating a takeover. According to the scheme described by the publication, Tricolor TV was supposed to merge with NTV-Plus and then sell part of the shares to Gazprom-Media. The company was valued at 65 billion rubles.
News about Gazprom's purchase of Tricolor surfaced back in September 2009. The companies signed a protocol of intent, according to which a part could become available to Tricolor TV subscribers, but the deal did not progress beyond this. Presumably, due to an inspection by the Federal Antimonopoly Service, in the event of a merger, Gazprom-Media would serve 97% of satellite television viewers.

Additional Information
Please note that to improve the quality of service, the satellite and digital television operator Tricolor TV periodically improves the software.
In order to take advantage of these improvements, each subscriber must update the system monthly. To do this, you need to download additional software on your computer and via USB, using removable media to update the system. This procedure allows you to view channels, including TNT in HD quality.
When using Tricolor TV, errors such as lack of signal often occur. Only info channels can be accessed. In some cases, there is no viewing access at all. In 2021, there were no failures caused by the operator.
In order to eliminate the possibility of such situations occurring, you should use the equipment correctly, following the recommendations of the broadcast service provider.
If you have any difficulties setting up the equipment, please contact the call center operator by number. An experienced employee will answer any information question and help solve a technical problem by providing step-by-step guidance.
Broadcasting of non-terrestrial Matcha channels on Tricolor has been stopped
The largest Russian pay television operator Tricolor notified its subscribers that it would stop broadcasting the Matcha package of non-terrestrial channels. True, so far - as of mid-day on February 1 - technically not all TV channels have been turned off, some still remain in the package.
In place of the switched-off TV channels, subscribers see a splash screen with the message “broadcasting of this channel as part of Tricolor TV has been terminated due to the expiration of the contract with the copyright holder.”
Today, Gazprom Media sent out a press release stating that, effective February 1, 2021, it terminated the contract with Tricolor “in response to the operator’s inconsistent and aggressive policy, which is destroying the existing balance between operators and rights holders.”
The release also states:
“As part of the discussion of the terms for extending the contract for 2021, Tricolor issued an ultimatum demanding that Red Media revise the commercial part of the existing contract on unacceptable terms that do not take into account the economic situation and the prevailing interaction practices in the market. None of the counter-offers from Red Media were accepted.
The Gazprom-Media holding adheres to the principles of a single pricing policy for all pay TV operators. An agreement with Tricolor's new requirements would lead to the creation of preferential conditions, which is unacceptable for Gazprom Media.
Obviously, the most negative impact on Tricolor’s content offer will be the departure of Red Media sports channels from the operator’s packages, since the channels produced by GPM Match provide their audience with exclusive content and have no alternative in the Russian market. At the moment, the digital and satellite television operator NTV-Plus, part of the Gazprom-Media holding, has prepared a special offer for Tricolor subscribers, the optimal price-quality ratio. The offer includes special conditions for the purchase of equipment, a subscription to the “Basic Online” package for 1 rub. per month for a year, as well as discounts on sports packages, including TV channels of the Match family.
The Gazprom-Media holding is ready at any time to continue negotiations with the Tricolor operator on the resumption of commercial relations on market terms, since it is confident that this is in the interests of both companies, as well as Tricolor subscribers.”
The operator himself does not entirely agree with the copyright holder’s version, arguing that the term of the license contract with the copyright holder is until January 31, 2021, and the broadcast of Red Media channels was carried out in full accordance with the terms of the contract. Moreover, a representative of Tricolor claims that the companies are in the process of negotiations with the company, just that commercial agreements have not yet been reached.
UPD Already in the evening, the operator distributed his own vision of the situation in a release
“Tricolor cares about its customers and is not ready to agree to the constant increase in the cost of content offered by holdings that have monopoly rights to distribute content. This is our principled position, and we constantly notify monopolists about it.
Since 2021, the cost of the contract with (Gazprom Media holding) has doubled. At the same time, they are trying to oblige us to purchase, along with socially significant sports television channels, also additional commercial channels, which, in accordance with our television measurements, are not of interest to the Tricolor audience. We have repeatedly informed our partners that this format for distributing socially important content is unacceptable.
Over the past three years, Tricolor has not increased tariffs for its basic services and is not ready to increase the cost of the basic package due to the growing appetites of monopolists. Tricolor intends to continue to offer customers balanced channel packages at an affordable price. We have not withdrawn our commercial offer to the Gazprom Media holding, and therefore we believe that we are in commercial negotiations to continue broadcasting sports content produced by the Gazprom Media holding,” commented Nikolai Orlov , Deputy General Director for Content Policy at Tricolor.
An important detail: today it became known that Tricolor launched its own TV channel - “Sportivny” . Previously, another channel was launched - “Hockey” . Obviously, the decision to launch its own package of sports TV channels was made by Tricolor after the conflict spilled into the press at the beginning of 2021, when they first started talking about the possible departure from the platform of the entire package of channels (more than 30 titles) distributed by Red Media.
Then everything ended in reconciliation; in March, Tricolor informed its subscribers that it was continuing to broadcast all TV channels distributed on the basis of a package offer. However, throughout 2021, the operator launched movie channels, and at the end of the year, sports channels, apparently creating a potential replacement for the controversial TV channels.
