I recently bought an Android TV box and a wireless keyboard with touchpad. The console was fine, the keyboard too, but I couldn’t switch the layout from English to Russian or vice versa. I didn’t want to open the drawn keyboard on half the screen and use the touchpad to navigate around it, because this gadget had Russian letters.
A month earlier, I had the experience of connecting a native keyboard to a Huawei M5 tablet (I don’t remember the exact model, it’s a parody of a netbook), and it was possible to organize it using the Russian Keyboard program directly in Google Play. Unfortunately, this program was removed from there, I had to download it from 4pda. The switch worked, but incorrectly: Russian letters were typed, but instead of “ytsuken” “yshshchila” and the like were printed. I had to look further.
SwiftKey
One of the best keyboards on Google Play. It’s not for nothing that its manufacturer was bought by Microsoft.
SwiftKey has a very simple and pleasant interface. The application can suggest words and correct mistakes, supports gestures and themes. You can change the amount of space that the keyboard takes up on the screen.
SwiftKey allows you to manage your clipboard, provides access to stickers and calendar events. It adapts to your typing style and shows detailed statistics about how efficiently you type.
Keyboard settings are synced across your devices.

Problems and their solutions
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to connect a keyboard to an Android TV set-top box the first time. During the connection process, conflicts may arise that will have to be dealt with.
Below we consider the main problems and ways to solve them:
- The Android TV set-top box does not see the keyboard of a certain brand. This happens due to driver incompatibility, but lately such difficulties have been rare. Manufacturers are interested in having their equipment purchased, so the software is made universal. If suddenly a problem arises, you need to buy and connect a keyboard of the same brand as the set-top box (if possible).
- Android TV device is not detected. In this case, check whether Bluetooth is turned on on both devices or the quality of the keyboard connection. To be safe, restart both devices and connect again. In many cases, installing new drivers helps.
- At a certain point, the Android TV set-top box stops detecting the keyboard. At the same time, earlier you were able to easily connect the device and use it at work. The reason may lie in a system failure. The solution is a “soft” reset, and if there is no result, a “hard” reset.
- "Klava" does not work with a certain port of the TV set-top box. The cause may be a physical malfunction of the USB connector. Inspect the set-top box and connected device for damaged cables and chips. Alternatively, try connecting the device to a different port and make sure that it was the problem.
If none of the solutions works, you should connect another keyboard or use a connected mobile phone for control. Today, in app stores you can find a lot of software for controlling TVs, TV tuners or other devices.
Now you know how to connect a keyboard to an Android TV set-top box and configure the Russian language (if required). If you encounter connection difficulties, try reconnecting the device, changing the connector, or updating the software. But don’t worry, because in practice, in 95% of cases, the connection of two devices goes without problems.

Packaging and equipment
The keyboard is supplied in a standard box made in turquoise tones. On the front surface there is an image of the keyboard, as well as information that the device can operate for up to 18 months without replacing batteries, and that it is compatible with Windows OS / Chrome OS / Android.
On the back surface there is some information about the main advantages of the device.
Inside the box there is a Logitech K400 plus keyboard, an external USB module (Logitech Unfying), instructions and a warranty card.
Of course, the delivery package cannot be called rich, but we have everything you need to start working immediately after removing the device from the box. The manufacturer even included two AA batteries so that the user could start using the device immediately after unpacking.
Design
There are no frills in the design of the Logitech K400 plus; the device looks nice and simple. The keyboard is made of fairly durable, textured plastic, without glossy inserts, and is a solid gray color, with the exception of two yellow inserts. I liked that this plastic doesn’t collect much dust.
Form factor – rectangle with rounded corners. The side edges also have roundings.
The keyboard uses membrane-type buttons; the keycaps themselves have the following dimensions:
Alphanumeric buttons are 17x17 mm, and this is at the base, and the contact part has a size of 15x15 mm;
Top row of function keys – 16 x 10 mm (at the base), 14 x 9 mm (contact part)
Pressing the buttons is silent, with well-defined tactile feedback.
Logitech K400 plus is a multimedia keyboard, in which, in addition to the main keys, there are several additional keys for controlling the audio player, below which there is a fairly large touchpad. At the bottom of the touchpad, separated by a yellow line, there are two mechanical control buttons (simulating the left and right mouse buttons).
The back of the keyboard is made of matte gray plastic, it has 4 rubber feet that prevent the device from sliding on the table surface, fixing the cover, 6 mounting screws and the printed model name “K400+”.
At the top there is a special protrusion, inside which the manufacturer has placed a container for two AA batteries and a compartment for storing the Logitech Unfying receiver.
Almost all ends of the keyboard are absolutely clean, with the exception of the front. There are no switches on them.
There is an on/off switch on the front of the keyboard. The manufacturer says that if you use this power button, you can increase the battery life up to 18 months.
In general, the Logitech K400 plus is a fairly well-thought-out device. It has fairly small dimensions (354.3 x 139.9 x 23.5 mm) and low weight (380 g), but the manufacturer was able to maintain the full size of the keys. There are no particular complaints about the build quality of the keyboard; no visible defects were found during a visual inspection. I would like to say that the assembly and execution are good, as befits Logitech.
In progress
The process of pairing the keyboard with the computer did not cause any difficulties. You just need to install the module in the USB port and turn on the keyboard.
The range of the keyboard is very large; the device can be controlled from almost anywhere in a fairly large room.
It should be noted right away that there are some inconveniences associated with typing. Still, the manufacturer of this keyboard pursued other purposes for its use. I find it more convenient to type text on a full-fledged keyboard, although there are no particular difficulties with the Logitech K400 plus. The keys operate almost silently and softly.
In order to expand the functionality of the keyboard, the manufacturer installed several additional keys, the main purpose of which is to automate the execution of certain functions.
So, the keyboard has a [Fn] key (in place of the button), key combinations with which can perform the following actions:
- [Fn] + [Left arrow] – initial screen;
- [Fn] + [Right arrow] – end;
- [Fn] + [Up Arrow] – scroll the page up;
- [Fn] + [Down Arrow] – scroll the page down.
- [Fn] + [Backspace] − screenshot;
- [Fn] + [Ins] – sleep mode;
- [Fn] + – scroll lock;
If desired, you can reassign these keys in the proprietary Logitech Options application.
In addition, there is a volume control unit and an additional yellow button that performs the function of a left mouse click.
And, of course, the touchpad is the most important element of the keyboard, because it is with its help that you can quite conveniently control the cursor on the screen. Undoubtedly, it is much more convenient to move the cursor using an air mouse, but the capabilities of the mouse are limited, because It does not have a built-in full-fledged keyboard, and as a result, it is not as universal and practical a device as a keyboard with a touchpad.
Advantages
- Compact dimensions of the device, but full-size keys;
- Large and responsive Touchpad with Multi-touch support;
- Decent build quality;
- Wireless;
- Instant installation;
- Functionality;
- Autonomy;
- Radius of action;
- Logitech Unfying Receiver;
- Ability to reassign function keys.
Flaws
- Lack of informative LED indicators (CapsLock, power, battery level).
Conclusion
As stated at the beginning of the review, the main purpose of the Logitech K400 plus keyboard is to work in conjunction with multimedia devices, and it copes with this task perfectly. The range of action in conjunction with paired devices is large. This compact keyboard is designed for comfort. Convenient control of the TV from a distance, for example, its direct function. A large 3.5-inch touch panel makes navigation easier. Convenient keys are suitable not only for correspondence on social networks, Internet surfing, etc. On this keyboard you can type texts, even large texts if necessary - the keys are responsive and silent. But, to be honest, this process cannot be called comfortable.
In conclusion, the Logitech K400 plus is an excellent solution for working with multimedia devices and is mediocre enough to be used as the main keyboard for a PC. But he has the right to be so.
