Choosing a Samsung TV
4K or Full HD?
These two technologies differ in display resolution, which ensures clear images. It is quite obvious that with a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD) the picture will be clearer and more contrasty, and less grainy than with 1366x768 pixels (HD Ready). 4K (Ultra HD) technology provides a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels, and TVs with it produce much higher quality images than others.
For some time, 4K Ultra HD users were faced with a lack of content, since not all TV channels broadcast images in this quality. However, recently this content has become increasingly widespread; the future will clearly remain with it. And Full HD is gradually becoming a thing of the past, although it is still quite common.
Regular or curved screen?
There is no point in talking about the advantages and disadvantages of flat-panel TVs, since it is difficult to even imagine a person who has not watched such a TV. But a device with a curved screen is an exotic thing. Let's talk about them. By the way, Samsung was one of the first to produce curved 4K Ultra HD TVs.
First the pros. TVs with curved screens definitely provide greater immersion depth. Therefore, watching 3D or playing a console on them is a pleasure. Well, they look stylish - few will argue with that either.
Now about the cons. Due to their complex geometry, glare on curved TVs takes up much more space than on flat screens. A curved TV significantly reduces the viewing angle, making it almost impossible to watch outside your comfort zone. And it is approximately 35-40°. The diagonal is too important: curved TVs smaller than 70 inches must be viewed almost point-blank, otherwise the image on them will be the same as on their flat counterparts, albeit crooked. You shouldn’t forget about the inflated cost either.
Bottom line: if you live alone, like to play consoles, have your TV in a dimly lit room, and have nowhere to put your money, then a curved TV is the perfect choice for you. Otherwise there is no point in it.
Screen characteristics: diagonal, resolution, refresh rate
First of all, immersion in what is happening on the screen depends on the diagonal. After all, the larger the TV, the more real its picture seems. Don't be afraid to overdo it - you get used to the big picture very quickly.
Permission. Full HD is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Nowadays, 4K Ultra HD and even 8K TVs are increasingly in demand. However, visually for the human eye, it is not very easy to distinguish a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels (4K Ultra HD) from 1920x1080 pixels (Full HD) based on image quality. Especially at a distance of 2-3 meters.
But the difference in the screen refresh rate is noticeable when comparing low frequencies (50 Hz) with high frequencies (120 Hz and higher). After 100 Hz, the difference in image quality is almost unnoticeable, and TVs with a refresh rate of 200 Hz will not provide a more noticeable visual improvement in the picture compared to 100 Hz ones.
Smart TV technology
This technology turns your TV into a very large tablet. It is very convenient for those who cannot imagine their life without the Internet. Formally, Smart TV technology allows the TV to perform the same functions that are available to smartphones and other “smart” devices, but in practice everything is not so rosy.
Firstly, TVs do not play some media file formats, and it is simply not possible to install the necessary codecs.
Secondly, controlling games from the remote control is unusual and not very convenient, and not all games will work on Smart TV.
Thirdly, due to insufficient power of the equipment, performance problems may arise, and the TV simply does not provide for equipment upgrades.
However, if you just need to surf the web and watch videos online, then Smart TV will provide this entertainment. Although you will have to pay extra to have this pleasure on TV.
Number of tuners
Televisions are equipped with built-in tuners that decode digital information streams, turning them into images. Usually one tuner is enough for the TV to accept most broadcast formats (DVB-T/C/S). In addition to digital, the tuner can also be analog (PAL/SECAM). However, analogue broadcasting is no longer relevant.
The best Samsung TVs are equipped with two digital tuners, allowing you to enjoy the very convenient PiP (Picture-in-Picture) feature.
HDR support
This technology expands dynamic range, improving contrast and color reproduction. A similar effect can be achieved by increasing the number of pixels, but HDR technology improves the efficiency of the pixels themselves, not their number. Of course, manufacturing HDR TVs is technologically more complex, which is why they cost more.
Which OLED and QLED technology is better?
That's a very difficult question. OLED technology is an older technology used by many TV and smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, while QLED is a proprietary technology currently used only by Samsung Inc.
Both are excellent as they provide the deepest range of colors.
Both types of TVs support high dynamic range (HDR) content and have 4K resolution.
A wide range of companies offer OLED screens on their smartphones. There are also Samsung Galaxy smartphones that display this technology. As for QLED, they haven't made screens that small yet.
OLED technology can produce the very best black levels, so critical in any screen technology. The darker the black, the more accurate the image quality. This increases the contrast ratio to very high levels, thereby providing a more attractive picture quality.
OLEDs themselves are a light source and hence they turn off the corresponding pixels when the image needs a black backlight. Hence, you get perfect blacks in OLED. As for QLEDs, they must depend on the LED for the light source.
Therefore, there is a chance for some colors to bleed through the panels, thus creating an extremely good, but not so perfect black.
Top 10 Samsung TVs
Best Samsung 4K TV
Samsung UE43TU7100UXRU
A 43-inch 4K Samsung TV that immediately attracts attention with its cutting-edge frameless design. In addition to a resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels, the display boasts high brightness, decent viewing angles and uniform illumination. Support for HDR10+ and Smart TV on the proprietary Tizen platform is provided. A pair of 10-watt speakers provides the device with rich and spacious sound, which is quite enough for the first time - but for surround sound, of course, it is better to splurge on an external audio system.
Numerous advantages and a price of only 26,000 rubles make this device one of the best 4K Samsung TVs and an excellent choice for a small living room.
Price: RUB 34,990
Best Samsung Full HD TV
Samsung UE32M5550AU
Both the plus and minus of this 32-inch Samsung UE32M5550AU TV is voice control. On the one hand, this is very convenient, but on the other, apparently, when optimizing this function for the Russian language, the developers did not know the intricacies of phonetics. Therefore, sometimes he simply refuses to understand voice commands. But the Dolby Digital Plus sound on this model is simply perfect, and the viewing angle of 178° allows you to watch programs from almost anywhere. The minimum scanning frequency of 50 Hz does not strain the eyes, especially since the price is pleasing - just above 24,000 rubles.
Price: RUB 23,990
Best Samsung HD Ready TV
Samsung UE32T4510AU
Another Samsung TV, the main - but far from the only - advantage of which is its attractive appearance. A white case with thin frames, which is rare these days, immediately catches the eye, so in a small room or in a light-colored kitchen, this device will look just right. The 32-inch screen produces a good picture with a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels at a natural frequency of 50 hertz (the dynamic scenes index, however, is 900, that is, even the fastest action will definitely not be blurred). The sound is provided by a duo of speakers with a total power of 20 watts, and the smart functions are provided by the proprietary Tizen operating system.
A nice and inexpensive model, for which they ask for a very reasonable 17,500 rubles.
Price: RUB 16,990
Best Samsung Curved TV
Samsung UE65RU7300U
A Samsung TV with a curved screen, stuffed with modern technologies like a tin can with sprats. The display diagonal is 64.5 inches (164 cm), which, coupled with a resolution of 3840x2160, makes this device the center of attraction in any living room. There is support for HDR formats HDR10 and HDR10+, as well as a native screen refresh rate of a respectable 100 hertz. Of course, it couldn’t do without smart functionality and even good stereo sound.
The main drawback here is the same as the main feature - the curved shape of the display. Not everyone likes this, since the image is greatly distorted if you look at the screen from the side, and not directly in the center. In addition, such models are characterized by a fragile design and rather expensive repairs. However, such little things will not stop a fan of cool electronics, especially at a price of only 61,000 rubles.
Price: RUB 60,490
Best Samsung TV with Wi-Fi
Samsung UE43TU7090U
Ultra-thin and almost frameless Samsung TV with a diagonal of 43 inches (109 cm). The screen supports 4K UHD resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels. HDR technology is represented by the HDR10+ format. The screen's own refresh rate is 100 Hz, and thanks to software tricks, the index of dynamic scenes was increased to as much as 1300, so the device is ideal for video games and movies, and not just for watching TV. Smart TV is built on the proprietary Tizen platform.
A nice, fast and modern TV without any serious shortcomings will cost you only 26,500 rubles.
Price: RUB 29,990
Best Samsung TV with 100Hz screen frequency
Samsung QE55Q60TAU
Samsung QLED TV with a diagonal of 55 inches (140 cm). All parameters of the 2021 model correspond to the latest trends in TV production. Judge for yourself: there is 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840×2160), and support for extended dynamic range of the HDR10+ format, and the display’s own refresh rate of 100 hertz (with a dynamic scene index of 3100), and Smart TV running the proprietary Tizen platform.
With all its many advantages, a TV is not that expensive: for a nice and productive device they ask only 59,000 rubles - and this does not take into account discounts!
Price: ₽ 59,000
The best Samsung TV for the garden
Samsung UE32T5300AU
Budget Samsung TV model with a diagonal of 32 inches (81 cm). Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) is no longer considered the latest technology, but for such a relatively small display it is more than enough - at least if you don’t watch TV very closely. The native refresh rate of 50 hertz is supplemented with the help of software “improvers”, which provide a dynamic scene index of 1000. The picture is complemented by a fast Smart TV based on the Tizen operating system.
The only thing I can complain about about this TV is the rather weak built-in speakers, which in total produce 10 watts of power. However, the modest price of 19,000 rubles makes this device an excellent choice for a small room, kitchen, or cottage.

It doesn’t even make sense to mention the Smart TV functionality and good built-in sound. An excellent TV that is definitely worth its 100,000 rubles.

The speakers provide good rich sound with a hint of 3D, and the convenient remote control offers voice control. Smart TV works quickly and flawlessly.

Year of issue
Samsung uses a set of letters to indicate the year of manufacture. Let's look at what combinations of symbols Samsung uses to indicate the year of manufacture of the television receiver:
- 2019 - RU/R/Q*R;
- 2018 - NU/N/Q*N;
- 2017 - Q/MU/M;
- 2016 - KS/KU;
- 2015 - JS/JU;
- 2014 - HU/H;
- 2013 - F;
- 2012 - E;
- 2011 - D;
- 2010 - C;
- 2009 - B;
- 2008 - A.
As you can see, the symbol R is used for new products for 2021. In addition, additional Q*R values can be seen in the marking to emphasize the QLED model. However, the symbol R can also denote LCD TV models. During the 2015/16 period, additional symbols were used to indicate the year of manufacture, but applied to certain brands:
- S – TVs under the “SUHD” brand;
- U – ultra-high resolution 4K UHD screen.
If the user notices a TV receiver series on the marking after the year of manufacture, then we are talking about an LED HDTV with Full HD or HD Ready resolution.
FAQ
Which TV is better, Samsung or LG? In many respects, the TVs of these competitors are almost identical. The main difference is Samsung's QLED technology and LG's OLED technology. Premium TVs are better than LG, but Samsung is preferable for budget options.
Which series of Samsung TVs is better? It is impossible to definitely call any series of Samsung TVs the best. But the most popular models are the 5 and 6 series. Their technology has been sufficiently tested and debugged, so there are much fewer complaints about them than about other series.
Which browser is better to download on a Samsung TV? In the Samsung App TV app store, you can choose any of the browsers that you like best. The simplest, most convenient and widespread is Smart Hub.
Series
Next, the user can decipher the series and subseries of the television receiver in the marking. The designation uses 3 symbols, each with its own meaning:
- The first digit indicates the series; a digital character set from 4 to 9 is used. And the higher the series value, the more they differ in the set of modern technologies and functions;
- The second means podcast series. Experts say that Samsung uses this data to indicate technical characteristics. There are no comments from the manufacturer regarding the meaning of the second digit of the series;
- The third digit indicates model design data.
