Review of the 2021 Samsung TV lineup

Samsung is a well-known manufacturer of new generation TVs. The TV line for future buyers is extensive, but the company does not intend to stop there. Perhaps for some in this case there is a markup “on the brand”, but it is a fact that both experts and ordinary buyers follow new TVs.

New changes are expected from Samsung, especially in the Smart TV segment. Due to the wide range of models, you don’t always know which TV to choose. Next, we will look at new products from the global brand, and also provide our readers with brief reviews of Samsung TVs in 2018.

Features of Samsung TVs 2018

2017 is considered not the most successful year for the development of television equipment. To look in more detail at the features of the current year's Samsung TV lineup, we have to go back a little to 2014. At the time, the company was attempting to mass produce the next generation of OLED TVs.

LG was much more fortunate in these technologies, which left Samsung in a difficult position. This became the impetus for renaming classic LCDs to “SUHD” and then to “QLED”. The company did not get the desired result.

Statistics from Korean media reported that the company's share in the premium segment has decreased from 50% to 10% over the course of a couple of years.

OLED from rival companies had incredible dynamics, while overly demanding buyers are convinced that last year's “QLED TV” was a marketing ploy.

What new TVs has Samsung released in 2021?

The marking of TVs in 2021 is N. The company’s specialists aim to implement new display technologies: microLED and QD-LED. Anyone interested in the television market knows that not everyone can afford such a device. Understanding this, the company assured that new models of next year will be available for purchase. Moreover, the first consumer TV based on microLED technology will be launched with the 146-inch “The Wall”. This is the first step to cross the LCD technology line.

2018 was marked by the release of the first 8-inch LCD. In the short term, the company will promote LCD as QLED.

The criticism that fell upon the company in 2021 turned out to be beneficial, resulting in the decision to implement full-scale local dimming technology in the top of the range TV, the Q9FN. FALD is one of the minimum requirements for playing high resolution HDR video on LCD.

The Q series lineup works with the Q Engine, other models have a lower version. At the same time, the company will continue to offer various options for curved television devices.

A few words about the series. A couple of series from 4 to 9 are presented. Moreover, the higher the number, the more modern technologies are used in the production of this equipment. Accordingly, in the 6 series of 2008 and the same series of 2021, the devices will be different in their consistent design and technical component.

As for the sizes, the models will be up to 82 inches diagonally. This year was marked by the emergence of large-sized TVs. The company will demonstrate a special, thin and reliable wall mount.

If we talk about the content of devices, then one of the components of the current year will be gaming functions. Especially supports HDMI auto mode switching when game is detected, 120Hz, AMD FreeSync and VRR HDMI 2.1.

Please be reminded that the TV does not support the full HDMI 2.1 standard. At one time, the company selected a couple of functions from the future interface in order to distinguish them from the basic package.

Samsung TV devices are the first to feature adaptive frame rate and Microsoft's announcement that the Xbox One is receiving support for this parameter. The current year will focus on console games.

Another direction of the company’s work in 2021 is design. Let's remember that Samsung uses an invisible connection. All cables are connected to the external unit, they also transmit video and power to the TV through 1 wire. For owners of TVs of this brand, this is a plus, since there is no need to hide or untangle wires.

A new option is environmental mode. The bottom line is that you can fill the screen with a picture of the back wall, and connect it with information about time and weather. Feature available on Q models.

“Smart” is also introduced in 2021. But the company again does not intend to update Tizen. At the same time, version 4.0 was introduced in new models. The devices are equipped with a new option – Universal Guide, voice control, the settings of which have been simplified.

The changes also affected TV parameters in general. Now you can make changes to the settings using your cell phone and providing your login credentials. Experts describe the possibility that if the user is already logged into the application to watch videos on a smartphone, the TV is connected to the same account. There is no need to re-enter personal data to display the image on the screen. No Netflix support.

Series such as Q9 and Q8 will be available for purchase with a metal remote control, on which the button layout will be simplified. The company has moved to a streaming service, so user interfaces are not being developed as they were previously. The Q series and NU bands are introduced with simplified OneRemote.

Samsung created a personal HDR format known as HDR10+. Such brands as Panasonic and Philips began to use it. And even more companies Amazon, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros began to provide content in this format. Representatives of the Samsung organization note that all HDR TVs this year will support HDR10+.

Users will be able to work with Amazon's HDR10+ viewing app. This format is an alternative to Dolby Vision.

The new models will also be equipped with the usual features, in particular: Twin tuners for EU TV, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, HEVC and VP9-2 for decoding, as well as HDMI ports. The models presented below will not support 3D.

Tuner

The fourth digit indicates the presence of a tuner and its type. For example, the number 7 meant the presence of a DVB-T2 tuner, and 0 meant the presence of a DVB-T tuner. This was the case until 2013, but since 2013, the type of tuner began to be designated by two letters, and the fourth number also began to refer to the design.

Now the type of tuner is designated as follows (a newer designation is indicated in brackets):

  • AW (W) - DVB-T/C tuner;
  • AB (B,AU or U) - DVB-T2/C/S2 tuner;
  • AK (K) - DVB-T2/C tuner;
  • AT (T) - two tuners 2 x DVB-T2/C/S2;
  • SB - DVB-T2/C/S2 tuner;
  • SS - DVB-T/C/S2 tuner;
  • ST - two tuners 2 x DVB-T2/C/S2;
  • SL - two tuners 2 x DVB-T/C/S2;
  • AF (BF) - DTV Tuner/Digital Cable Tuner/Analog Tuner;
  • DK - DVB-T2/C;
  • AR (DR) - DTV Tuner/Analog Tuner.

Next there may be one or two letters. According to the company's explanations, these letters do not convey any information to consumers. In addition, these letters may not be on the labeling of Samsung TVs.

QLED Series 2021

This line is the pride of the South Korean equipment manufacturer. Moreover, these are the models that the bet is placed on.

Organic LED screens were popularized by LG; the main competitors, in order to get ahead of the leaders, resorted to the next step: they found a method for improving an equally high-quality image that diode matrix screens could provide.

The QLED screen in 2021 is the depth of black color, as each pixel is individually illuminated. The black color becomes rich in color.

The Quantum Dots technology comes down to the fact that there is a thin layer of quantum dots, resulting in nano-semiconductors that scatter the light flux.

The end result creates both light and dark tones, increases the depth of colors, and this significantly affects the realism of the image. Company representatives promise that quantum dots will increase color rendering by 30%. Especially if you take a classic OLED screen for comparison.

Unfortunately, this option for producing TV devices using this technology is expensive, despite the fact that this method already entered the television market a couple of years ago.

Approximate prices for models depending on inches in the Samsung TV table 2021.

55″, 58″2.8 thousand to 3.4 thousand dollars
65″From 4.3 thousand to 6.9 thousand dollars.
75″, 88″From 8.6 thousand to 25.8 thousand dollars.

Of course, if you have the opportunity to increase your budget to purchase a quality TV, you can consider this option.

The special position of QLED is confirmed by personal markings from the company. Since last year it has been exhibited in series such as Q6 to Q9.

In addition to the basic technical components, which coincide with the model range, QLED indicates a screen modification: F - flat screen and C - curved.

Samsung Q9S

The new 85″ model with 8K resolution is a QLED TV. Most often it occupies a leading position in the lists of new products, since it is distinguished by its large size and resolution. It is possible to use high-quality SD content and, if necessary, convert it to 8K HDR. Artificial intelligence is used for such purposes.

The final price has not been set, but you can count on 500 thousand rubles. New Samsung TVs are not very cheap in price, but the quality and image correspond to the cost.

Samsung Q9FN

There will be three models in this series: 55″, 65″ and 75″. You can notice that the manufacturer is moving away from the most common size of 40″.

The most affordable in the QLED line are the three previously listed models.

This year we can expect the introduction of Ambient Mode and an increase in black levels. Everything affects the brightness of the screen. Direct Full Array will improve image contrast. Final certification of this model has not taken place.

Samsung TVs 2021 surprise with their hardware and appearance.

Samsung Q8FN

This model is located lower in the series of 2021 TVs. In this case, the TV panel also switched to Direct Full Array, received Ambient Mode and added Bixby. There may be a slight decrease in brightness in this version compared to the Q9FN. More details regarding this model are unknown.

Samsung Q7CN

The Q7C TV is the older Q7 QLED from Samsung presented in a curved form.

Samsung Q7FN

Last year's QLED series is Q7F. Last year it was the golden ticket for the company. Since this option is considered one of the most ideal in terms of price-quality ratio. Moreover, it was the Q7F that switched a large number of AV users to QLED TVs.

The Q7FN release this year will likely lose most of its options. But, Ambient will still be turned on and Bixby will be added. Most likely it will be presented in 55″, 65″ and 75″ models.

Samsung Q6FN

This model completes the QLED line. This is a special edition, the company offered it for sale during the holidays in 2017. Now a fairly similar device will be permanently in the lineup.

It is known that the model will not be very bright. Adheres to Quantum Dot technology. But, if you are looking for a chic color and an affordable price, then this is the best deal available this year.

Destination country designation

And the last are three letters that indicate the country in which this TV will be sold:

  • XRU - Russia;
  • XUA - Ukraine;
  • XCS - Kazakhstan;
  • XZF - France;
  • XXU - England;
  • XZТ - Italy;
  • XXC - Spain;

UHD Premium Series 2021

Samsung's next 2021 TV line-up is being introduced ahead of the low-cost, premium line-ups. The name is bright enough, but what is hidden behind it? What are the distinctive features from the usual UHD TVs?

The main difference is the color rendering. It's simple and quite elegant, but it's worth the price tag.

Standard TVs with a resolution of 3840x2160 transmit images with just over 16 million colors. The Premium UHD TV series can display over a billion colors, while the picture will have high contrast.

Approximate prices for models depending on inches:

55″From 1.8 thousand to 2.4 thousand dollars
65″From 3.5 thousand to 4.3 thousand dollars.
75″From 5.7 thousand to 6.9 thousand dollars.

Samsung NU8500

This is a continuation of last year's MU8500 model. Samsung NU8500 Curved Smart TV is almost similar to NU8000. So, you already have a TV with a curved screen instead of a flat one.

In addition, this model has a backlit LED panel and a 4-core processor. When buying TV, you will be presented with viewing formats such as HDR10 and HDR10 +. On the platform as a Smart TV add-on with Bixby.

Curved TV without QLED set-top box.

Samsung NU8000

The model will be presented in a wide range of inches: 49″, 55″, 65″, 75″ and 82″.

This is a flat panel television device. Offers LED LCD panel and 4-core processor. HDR10 and HDR10+ formats are also supported. This option is suitable for those who are not looking for a purposefully curved TV. Moreover, this model is more affordable in price and will save you up to 6 thousand rubles. TVs with 55 inches in 2021 are considered the most common in the lineup.

Auto Game Mode

Samsung explains that it has implemented a new "Auto Game Mode" that can recognize when you turn on your HDMI-connected gaming console. At this time, the video mode automatically switches to game mode.

“Gain an advantage over your opponent. Your gaming console automatically optimizes your TV settings for an enhanced gaming experience with minimal response times and super-fast updates.”

Bixby and SmartThings

Samsung will continue to offer smart features based on its own Tizen platform. These features will give you access to apps like Amazon, Netflix and YouTube. The TVs will also feature Bixby voice assistant and built-in SmartThings support for controlling connected home devices. Samsung originally promised SmartThings for its 2016 TVs, but later rescinded its promise.

SteamLink

The TVs will also include SteamLink functionality, allowing you to stream Steam games from your PC to your TV either wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable.

UHD Series 2021

Ultra HD is a new format that has been known to users not so long ago. In a short time interval I was able to change positions from premium to middling. This is a 4K TV, for most this characteristic is not surprising, especially those who are interested in new products in the field of television technology.

As the list of TV models with 4K is growing, this series with its image has moved into the middle cost segment. It can be said that these models gave way to new technologies and more unconventional ideas.

Approximate prices for models depending on inches:

40″, 43″from 700 to 860 dollars
55″from 1.2 thousand to 1.5 thousand. dollars
65″from 2 thousand to 2.8 thousand dollars.
75″up to 4.8 thousand dollars.

If you look at the prices presented on TV earlier, you can safely say that these models are the most affordable. Who needs a high-quality TV, without additional functions, at an affordable price, pay attention to the models described below.

Samsung NU7100

The model range is presented in such inches as: 50.55, 65 and 75.

The PurColor option is presented here and there is a backlight in the panel. The device works with a 4-core processor. Bixby feature missing. Yes, in comparison with other options, there are disadvantages, but the price remains affordable.

Samsung NU7300

There are two models available here: 55″ with a curved screen and 65″ with a flat one.

This TV features Samsung's PurColor technology. This is one of the latest TV Wide Color Gamut. Reduces effective refresh rate to 60Hz

Continent

The second letter indicates the distribution area (for whom it is made):

  • E – Europe;
  • A - Asia, Africa, Australia;
  • S – Iran;
  • N - Korea, North and South America.

Screen size

Next in the model designation there are two numbers that indicate the size of the screen diagonal in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm).

TV receivers are usually produced with screens from 32 inches to 65 inches, the most popular among users. There are also larger screens, but these are for larger rooms and most buyers do not choose them.

Designer Series 2021

This series is represented by two TV models in 2021. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. As for the cost, these TVs are lower than the previous ones.

The Frame

Here is the best TV device from the South Korean brand for 2017. You can expect it in 2021. The stylish appearance of the device from the company is able to combine form and options for art decor.

The usual “smart” 4K. There are no questions about the performance of this model. Since the appearance is truly unique, you have to pay extra for such a feature. Unlike standard TVs, the price is slightly higher.

The Wall

Includes two parts that fit into special digital borders. One part may be too large for a large apartment or house.

Experts are sure that the image on the technology of this segment will look rough. CES showed that the colors are quite bright and saturated. The microLED panel guarantees that all pixels will be illuminated independently. This will allow the TV device to compete with LG's OLED TV.

FHD Series 2021

The new TV series in the budget segment of Samsung is represented by a wide range of equipment supporting Full HD resolution.

The younger line of M5 and M4 is known for its affordable price. There is a Smart TV and a tuner. For the European television market, models with flat and curved screens are presented.

Not final prices for models depending on inches:

32″from 345 to 485 dollars
40 and 43″from 485 thousand to 640 dollars.
50″up to 1.2 thousand dollars.

TVs in this series are produced with an LCD display, as well as Edge LED backlighting.
