L336 is a universal remote control that is perhaps superior to analogues in its price segment in terms of ease of use and setup. It can control any device that has an infrared receiver. This is due to the fact that the developers have included an advanced signal processing algorithm in our remote control. So if you have any infrared remote control that needs to be replaced, the L336 is your choice.
L336 - types and capabilities
Large, soft buttons of different colors are ergonomically placed on the front panel of the remote control. This wonderful device is produced by our longtime Chinese friends. In particular, the remote control for which this review was written with instructions was ordered on aliexpress. You can also order from a Chinese company you trust. By the way, the remote control can be made in either black or gray. I personally liked black better, it looks brighter.

The size of our L336 is neither large nor small - medium. Its weight provides the feeling of the presence of the remote control in your hand but does not pull your hand to the floor). It doesn’t lie in your hand like a log, but the buttons are quite large and the distance between them is sufficient to press exactly what is needed, and there are as many as 43 buttons on the remote control. The button labels are large but not cluttered, it looks good. Moreover, they (the buttons) are divided into color groups, which is a very worthy design solution. The plastic is pleasant to the touch, looks very reliable, the buttons are pressed softly, effortlessly and pleasant to the touch.
The signal transmitter is an infrared LED in our remote control. This allows you to extend the battery life. Honestly, I never understood remote controls with multiple transmitters, what's the point? This still does not increase the range.
The remote control can switch to control three devices, but this is only if you use all the buttons for each device). You can combine a couple or even three “small-command” devices in one mode, such as humidifiers, air conditioners, fans, and so on... The red LED indicator is not intrusive, but quite noticeable, will notify you about switching device controls or pressing a remote control button. In addition, without this indicator we would not be able to configure our remote control.
I think the only drawback of this remote control, oddly enough, is its smell. Yes, it was the dust that came from it for a week that was simply unbearable. The remote control in the apartment could be found by smell, although for particularly absent-minded readers this drawback of the L336 will be a big plus). I think that the smell of Chinese plastic is not worth describing, I will only note that it completely disappeared “dissipated” after a month of using the remote control.
Non-original Chunghop L336 - learning universal remote control and its modification
There have already been reviews of this remote control here, but I came across a fake Chunghop, it is slightly different from the original one.
Well, plus there will be dismemberment and minor modifications.
I bought this remote control on sale on 11/11, and by mistake I ordered two pieces. I didn’t cancel the order; I decided that the more remote controls in the house, the better.
To be honest, I didn’t expect a copy to arrive; I didn’t even know they were being counterfeited.
Yes, the seller does not have the “Chunghop” inscription on the photos, but I often read in reviews that sellers erase the brand name in the photos.
But in this case, I received exactly what I ordered.
Externally, except for the inscription, the remote controls are no different from the original ones. The body, buttons - everything is exactly the same.
I didn't really like the ergonomics of the remote control. The buttons are all approximately the same shape and size, they are not grouped in any way, so it can be difficult to find the right button by touch.
This especially applies to the volume buttons - they are the most frequently used, well, they could have been made different from the others!
The lower part of the remote control is round, so if the remote control is lying on the table, operating it with one finger can be problematic, the remote control will fall on its side.
And one more small problem - the diode is recessed deep into the case and the remote control sometimes does not work if it is pointed at an angle to the TV.
But, I repeat, the original Chunghop also has all these same shortcomings.
As it turned out, my remote control has a slightly different programming procedure.
The remote control is teachable, that is, an old remote control is required to set it up.
So, the procedure:
1. Place L336 and the old remote control opposite each other.
2. Press the TV button on L336 for a few seconds until the diode lights up brightly.
3. Briefly press on L336 the button that you want to program. The diode will start flashing.
4. Briefly press the corresponding button on the old remote control. The diode should stop blinking.
Repeat steps 3-4 for the remaining buttons.
For buttons that require auto-repeat (volume buttons, menu navigation buttons, etc.), in step 4, press the button and hold for about a second.
In addition to the TV, you can program two more devices. I transferred the control of the media console and amplifier to the remote control.
Dismemberment:
There is nothing interesting inside, literally nothing at all - two microcircuits, two LEDs and that's it.
There was some kind of inscription on the plastic, maybe this is the manufacturer?
Since the remote control was disassembled, I decided to fix the problem with the diode. The modification is simple - you just need to lengthen the legs a couple of millimeters.
Now the diode sticks out of the case and the remote control works at any angle!
Despite minor shortcomings, the L336 is a very good model for its price.
We use new remotes every day and almost never touch our original TV remote.
A copy of Chunghop is practically no different from the original, but it’s probably still better to spend $1-2 more and buy the real thing.

Step-by-step setup of the L336 universal remote control
Below I have provided the original instructions out of the box. If you are interested, you can read it, but I think that it will not suit all buyers because someone has not learned English or someone does not understand the logic of the Chinese actions).
L336 - original user manual
I have compiled the correct four-point step-by-step instructions and will share it with you:
position of the donor remote control relative to the universal remote control
- Press and hold one of the three buttons “TV”, “SAT” or “DVD” for five seconds to enter the setup mode. The choice depends on which remote control mode we want to record the button code in. The indicator on the remote control will light up bright red.
- We press the button that we want to configure, and the red indicator should blink.
- We bring the donor remote control to the receiver of the universal remote control at a distance of approximately two centimeters.
- We press the button on the donor remote control whose code we want to transfer to the programmable button of the universal remote control. When the command is recorded, the indicator will stop blinking and remain lit steadily. There's a little trick here. In order to avoid “flickering” commands in the future when controlling from a universal remote control, after the indicator has stopped flashing, continue to hold the button on the donor remote control pressed for two seconds.
We repeat this operation for the buttons to which we want to set commands and press “TV”, “SAT” or “DVD”, depending on what was pressed before. Well, or just wait ten seconds without doing anything and the remote control will exit the setup mode itself.
Let's immediately make a reservation that the learning remote control does not know anything until it is trained from another remote control.
Remote controls for televisions, set-top boxes and other equipment become unusable over time, but while they are still working, you can buy a learning remote control and train it from old remote controls.
For example, the TV remote control works, but it looks unsightly (it’s cracked, dogs have chewed it, the buttons have worn out both inside and outside), and a new remote control is expensive or doesn’t exist at all.
Or, for example, you have a TV and a set-top box, but you don’t want to control 2 remote controls:
Of course, for DVB-T2 set-top boxes you can buy, for example, Huayu DVB-T2+
TV , which has 4 learning buttons from the TV remote control, but not all set-top box codes are available in Huayu DVB-T2 .
With the L336 there are no restrictions on the models of set-top boxes - the main condition: a more or less working native remote control of the set-top box, TV and other similar equipment.
The cost of L336 on AliExpress is from 230 rubles.
Please note that learning remote controls (including those shown at the end) are not trained from air conditioner remote controls ! And, given the situation with coronavirus, it is better not to turn on air conditioners, because they only circulate internal contaminated air, without exchanging with external air.
The remote control comes in a bag (it’s better not to throw it away, but use it as a protective case):
on the reverse side you can see an insert with instructions and a sticker with the article number DZ1068-00B :
Remote control 185 mm long and 48 mm wide (batteries for comparison, not included):
On the reverse side there are convenient recesses for fingers and two legs so that the remote control lies flat:
Looking ahead, the hull is strong - there are several transverse bulkheads inside:
Instructions in English:
Copying all codes from one L336 to another L336:
And clearly:
Note:
But there are also Russian instructions on the Internet:
The principle is simple - 3 different remote controls ( TV , DVB , HiFi in a frame) - 42 buttons each:
Press and hold the desired button (for example, TV ) - the red indicator will light up:
Then press the desired button L336 (the indicator will begin to blink slowly) and then the button you need on the old remote control (the indicator will blink quickly).
And so you continue - with all the buttons you need.
Do not pay attention to the labels of the L336 buttons - any button can be assigned any function of the old remote control.
And it is not necessary to use all 3 “remotes” TV , DVB , HiFi . For example, you can use only TV by learning 42 buttons from the set-top box remote control + from the TV remote control .
For example, learn most of the buttons from the set-top box remote control + a few buttons you need from the TV remote control.
When operating the remote control, each button press is visible with a red indicator.
Inside the board there is a red indicator diode and an infrared one - if necessary, you can lengthen its legs so that it extends slightly beyond the remote control body.
AD009-06
chip and additional memory FT24C128A (16 KB) are used:
in the right corner on the board the website vorise.com (now - vorise.1688.com )
Typical circuit (on a similar chip AD009-03 ):
As you can see, a 47 uF 16V capacitor is shown in the power circuit, but in remote controls they save on it.
The minimum operating voltage of the microcircuit is +2V.
Standby current is about 2 µA.
AD is:
Similar microcircuits are used in other teachable remote controls, which are discussed below.
Of course, the L336 is good, but for older people, 42 buttons can be a bit too much and difficult.
HR-21J
Therefore, you can also order a learning remote control specifically for the elderly on AliExpress with large buttons (the body dimensions are the same as those of the L336):
with a button to turn on - night illumination (lit for 10 s):
The HR-21J only 20 learnable buttons (except the backlight button).
And there is the same one, but with a black body:
The differences in black are a more convenient vertical arrangement of Volume and Channels , as well as the labels on the buttons are more television-like - AV , mute.
But let me remind you that any button can be taught to any function of the old remote control.
Russian setup instructions:
With such a remote control, an elderly person can conveniently do the most important things - turn on the TV and turn on the set-top box, turn on the video input of the AV , switch channels using numbers or the switch button, adjust the volume. And there are a couple more buttons for some additional functions.
AD009-03 (circuit above) is also used FM24C32A (4 KB), because there are only 20 learnable buttons, while the L336 has 3 x 42 = 126.
This remote control is made by Hiye Electronics Co., Ltd. , the site is easy to remember:
There is also a similar model, but it has 2 sets of 21 buttons (but without backlight).
HR-21TWINS
HR-21 TWINS - “twins”: button A - 1 remote control, button B - 2 remote control.
And as you can see, the Volume and Channel are located here in the usual cross.
The dimensions are the same as the previous ones, but the body is the same as that of the learning remote control of DENN set-top boxes:
Huayu DVB-T2
remote controls still do not have the learning remote control code for DENN set-top boxes. Therefore, if the DENN remote control is worn out, you can order one of the learning remotes listed here on AliExpress, or buy some new set-top box (already with its own learning remote control).
For an elderly person, it is better to limit yourself to one set of A (or make the same A = B ).
But there is the same remote control, but with a backlight button, and, as usual, 20 learnable buttons:
TM-21T
When searching on AliExpress, you can indicate this - the learning remote control has large buttons
I note that remote controls for the elderly are more expensive than L336.
