iLook TV (formerly Edem TV): Channels, tariffs, reviews, how to connect IPTV

The era of rapid growth of satellite television with the advent of high-speed Internet seems to be slowly beginning to decline. The new IPTV format is gaining more and more fans. Accordingly, the number of providers providing this service is growing. But this format does not always have functionality comparable to that to which TV viewers are accustomed. We are talking about the function of displaying the program guide. Fortunately, if there is no TV guide on your IPTV, this can be fixed.

Tariffs and channels

To gain access to more than 2000 channels and an archive of TV shows for 4 days, you need to pay only $1 per month. After registration, the user has access to the full package free of charge for one day. During this time, the client can familiarize himself with the service and decide whether to continue using it or unsubscribe. According to iLook TV rules, you can simultaneously use 1 playlist only on two personal devices from one external IP address. Channels are divided into groups that can be edited. After saving channel groups, you need to update the playlist on the set-top box or IPTV player.

How to connect

The process of connecting IPTV is not difficult. To do this, follow the step-by-step instructions:

  • Go to the registration page. Go through the standard authorization procedure - come up with a username and password, and provide an email address. These details will be used to log into your account.
  • Receive a message by email and confirm your email. If there is no letter, check your spam folder (just in case) and write to support.
  • Log in to your account and set up TV in the “Playlist” tab.
  • Select a CDN server if you have problems with viewing. The service automatically selects a CDN that is less loaded and closer in distance. In some cases, when freezing, specifying a specific server from the list or reloading the playlist in the program/device helps.
  • Mark which channels need to be added to the playlist. Next, you need to download it in a suitable format or copy the link to the playlist to your device. The last option allows you to automatically receive updates.

Now you can open the playlist on your device and see how it works. The user has free viewing available for 24 hours to familiarize himself with the capabilities of the iLook TV service.

iptv programs with support for rewinding in the archive.

I realized that I asked the leading question a little wrong.

— there are many iptv providers, and as it turned out, ottCLUB (https://ottclub.cc) is a very good option.

— There are also a lot of programs for viewing these providers - they can be provider-dependent (picture TV spacer, picture TV provider, ottplayer and OttClub plugin from XMLINC OttClub), but there are also provider-independent applications like iptv, smart iptv.

Archives may or may not be supported by different providers. Now I'm only interested in the first ones.

But with archive support, it doesn’t mean that you can turn on yesterday’s show and rewind time forward/backward as you need - i.e. Rewinding time is kind of like a separate (very complex.) feature that I have currently found only in ProgTV. But even there the implementation becomes very complex and difficult to use.

What other iptv applications with rewind support do you know?

Is anything required from the provider to support such rewinding - for example on this site:

There is a mention: “Time shift (Gear Archives) (For Providers)”

For example, having tried to make playlists from OttClub, I realized that they do not provide any information about the range of archives with a play list.

At the same time, it can be a built-in function of the iptv application itself to request the size of archives (for example, the communication protocol) and can also be tied to the provider.

What iptv applications are built into third-party iptv spacers, such as kartina tv (I understand this is a clone of DuneHD), DuneHD, Mag, AuraHD - and is it possible to install them on your android (for example, by installing the dependent libraries they need).

In principle, I am interested in everything - starting from simple demo iptv programs for android with source code, libraries, git / svn links, as well as utilities for hackers / programmers.

IPTV is a unique opportunity to watch absolutely any channel in the world in good quality. You don't need antennas or amplifiers for this. All you need is to have a viewing device (computer, laptop, netbook, nettop, phone, tablet, Android set-top box, tuner, receiver) and an Internet connection. Everything else is in this section of the site: lists of channels in m3u and m3u8 format, links to free iptv playlists, players for viewing, instructions for dummies. Add this page to your bookmarks and come back – there is a constant update of working playlists m3u 2021. Speed up your search:

How to top up your account

If, after the end of the free period, the user decides that the service is suitable for him, he can pay for the services. To do this, on the official website you need to go to the “Account” section, select “Finance” and click “Top up”. Next, the client pays for the services in any convenient way.

From time to time, problems with payment systems arise on the service and only replenishment in BTC remains available. It is recommended to either top up your account in advance for a longer period (if you are satisfied with the quality of services), use the exchange instructions, or switch to another IPTV provider.

Setting up EPG for IPTV

In some players, the procedure for adding a TV program looks more complicated.

Here is a generalized algorithm, the implementations of which may differ in details:

  • Click on the “Settings” menu item in the player, look for the EPG tab, click on it;
  • Click on the “Add” button. A window will open in which you need to fill in all or some fields. A required field is a field that specifies a direct link to the TV guide (the one we inserted into the file manually in the example described above);
  • We indicate a unique prefix if the ID specified in our XMLTV file is present in several sources. The Initial State field may be missing, as well as language settings. The latter will be useful if the TV guide is presented in several language versions; for a given player it is permissible to install up to 5 different languages for displaying information;
  • After saving the entered data, all that remains is to click the “Update EPG” button. If the TV guide source uses auto-update, all changes in the TV program will occur automatically at a specified frequency, usually daily.

To configure individual channels, you need to select the “Channels” menu item, select the channel you are interested in, tick it and click the “Edit” button. Here you can also specify the XMLTV ID parameter along with the prefix and adjust the time difference if you live in a different time zone than the broadcast. To do this, specify the offset in minutes with a minus or plus sign, depending on whether you are behind or ahead of the broadcast time zone.

All that remains is to save the editing results and update the EPG.

IMPORTANT. If the channel name does not match what is specified in the XML file, the TV program for this channel will not work. So when assembling your own playlists and editing them, do not rename the channels at your discretion.

How to watch channels

The iLook TV service supports the following players and devices for watching channels:

  1. On any TV with Smart TV function. You just need to install the IPTV application for Smart TV and upload a playlist from your personal account to it.
  2. Any TV set-top box with IPTV function, for example, DUNE, MAG250 or Android.
  3. Satellite receivers, such as Openbox, Skyway or GI, that support IPTV (most modern satellite receivers).
  4. Mobile devices based on IOS or Android and an application for viewing IPTV
  5. Any computer and program with the function of viewing streaming video: the best IPTV players for Windows

Where to get TV program EPG for IPTV

So, the main question is where to get the EPG source for IPTV. The answer is simple - online. Just type in a search engine a query like “EPG for IPTV” and get a list of links that can be used for both paid and free IPTV listings, presented in XML format.

There are many players for watching IPTV, some of them are already equipped with a “TV guide” function, so they do not require any manual settings. If the TV program guide is not available, you need to use the search as described above, after which you will have to edit the source XML file with the m3u or m3u8 extension.

Please note that the end result may disappoint you, in this case try using other links. Ultimately, you will be able to choose the one whose functionality suits you. Remember that not all channels will have a TV program guide. If it's not a very popular or recently launched TV channel, most likely there won't be a TV guide for it. The same result is possible if there is an error or inaccuracy in the channel name.

What is a direct link to an IPTV playlist

There are two ways to transfer a playlist to your device. This is downloading and using a direct link. When using a direct link, the created playlist will be stored on the server. The user can make edits at any time, which will be automatically saved and transferred to the device for watching television. The link contains an encrypted personal access key that cannot be shared with anyone. If it gets to third parties, the client can regenerate the link in his personal account. After this, the link will need to be updated on all devices where it was specified.

TV guide apps

You can not only embed the EPG into the playlist itself, but also simply download a special application to your phone. For many users, the second method is more convenient.

The best mobile TV guides for Android:

  • TV Guide. TV program with all Russian TV channels. There are categories, information about shows, and a schedule for the upcoming week. Direct download link on Google Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=molokov.TVGuide.
  • TV programm. A simple software tool that collects the latest information about TV shows, series and movies every day. Direct download link in Google Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steeple.tv.program&hl=ru&gl=US.
  • TV Control. This application has all the same features as the previous one, plus a dark interface theme that can be set through the settings. Direct download link in Google Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.djaz.tv.
  • Hope EPG/Pro Guide. For Russian TV channels. If you add a third-party EPG address, you will be able to watch TV broadcasts in Ukraine, CIS countries and Europe. Direct download link on Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.umutlu.HopeEPGGuide&hl=ru&gl=US.
  • Lotus Program Guide. Functional TV guide for users from Ukraine, Belarus and Europe. Direct download link on Google Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mahocan.LotusEPG.

If you use the services of official IPTV providers, then you will not have to additionally search for and configure EPG. If you have free IPTV playlists at your disposal, which do not always come with TV guides, adding them yourself will not be difficult. Follow the instructions carefully and everything will work out.
