Connecting iPhone to TV via WiFi to stream video
Guests come to me very often. And to show your friends some photos from your latest trips, it is much more convenient to use a large TV for this than a small iPhone display. You can use the iPhone screen mirroring feature to do this. In addition, if you connect it to a TV, you can also play music through its speakers or even watch movies, including directly from YouTube.
So, to display video or photos from iPhone to TV, you need the following:
- The TV must be able to connect to your home router. It doesn’t matter how you do it - via cable, or via wifi, or via a TV set-top box on Android. The main thing is that it is on the same local network as the iPhone. I have already talked about all the ways to connect a TV to the Internet.
- The TV must support DLNA or Miracast. These are the ones we will use to broadcast video. In modern Sony, Samsung, Philips, LG or any other with Smart TV, it is already built into the shell. If you have an outdated model, you can easily connect an Android set-top box to it, where all modern technologies also work by default. Or the simplest Miracast adapter.
There are two technologies you can use to connect your iPhone to your TV: MiraCast and DLNA.
- Miracast (AirPlay on iPhone) - used to mirror the screen to a large monitor. Everything you see on your phone will appear exactly on your TV.
- DLNA is the ability to display only video, photos or music from an iPhone on the TV screen.
What will connecting the Samsung Galaxy A11 to a TV give?
Samsung Galaxy A11 is a full-fledged multimedia device that does not require synchronization with home equipment in standard use cases. But sometimes the smartphone needs to be connected to the TV in order to access the following features:
- watching videos on a big screen;
- listening to music through TV speakers;
- gaming on the TV screen;
- displaying the smartphone desktop on TV;
- wireless TV control.
The owner of the Samsung Galaxy A11 can add to the presented list by showing his own imagination. But the fact remains that connecting your phone to a TV is a function that the developers built into the Samsung Galaxy A11.
You can use several synchronization methods to set up a connection between two devices. Both wired and wireless options are considered. The choice of a specific method depends on various reasons, including the technical equipment of the home, as well as the functionality of the TV. Therefore, before connecting, it is recommended to consider all possible methods.
How to display photos and videos from iPhone to TV to watch movies?
What to do if your TV or set-top box does not have built-in support for AirPlay? We will work via DLNA. To connect your iPhone to a Samsung, Sony or LG TV, you need to install a separate program. You can find a large number of them on the AppStore, but I personally use TV Assist.
- Turn on your TV or launch the set-top box and connect to the router’s wifi network.
- Also connect iPhone to wireless signal
- Launch the TV Assist application and click on the monitor icon in the upper right corner of the screen
- Select your TV or set-top box from the list of available devices for playback
- Next, go to the “Video” section of the application and open the folder on the iPhone where the movie that we want to watch on the big screen is located.
- And select the desired video
- The file will open in the application and begin converting to a format that is supported by the TV. Then click on the “Play” button
After which this video will begin to play on the TV directly from the iPhone.

Wired connection options
Wired methods of connecting the Samsung Galaxy A11 to a TV are not the most convenient due to the use of cables, but at the same time, such options do not require advanced technical equipment of the TV receiver.
Via USB
This is the easiest way to connect your phone to your home screen. To implement it, the owner of the Samsung Galaxy A11 will need a USB cable that comes with the device.
Next, you need to insert one part of the cable into the smartphone, and the other into the TV receiver. After this, all that remains is to open the TV menu using the remote control and select the involved USB port in the connection menu.
At the same time, the smartphone itself confirms the data exchange with the TV by selecting the connection as a media device. If everything is done correctly, the TV receiver will recognize the Samsung Galaxy A11 as an external storage device, and using the remote control you will play photos, audio and video on the TV screen.
Via HDMI
This method is more complex, but at the same time more functional. If, when connecting via USB, a basic set of capabilities opens up to the device owner, allowing the Samsung Galaxy A11 to be treated as an external drive, then when pairing via HDMI, the smartphone’s desktop will be displayed on the receiver’s screen, and the actions performed on the phone will also be displayed. In particular, the launch of certain programs.
The complexity of the method lies in the fact that the Samsung Galaxy A11 is not equipped with an HDMI port for connecting to a TV. But this drawback can be circumvented using an MHL or SlimPort adapter. You can purchase the corresponding accessory at an electronics store for 200-300 rubles.

Common problems of lack of digital TV
Why do digital channels disappear on TVs from LG, SONY and other brands? There are a couple of situations that act as a catalyst for problems in the process of signal reception. Some of them can be solved independently, others require the hands of a professional, so you have to turn to a specialist:
- The set-top box does not support the DVB-T2 digital broadcasting standard. Please be careful when selecting equipment as other countries may have different standards.
- Preventative work is being carried out, which is the reason for the lack of signal.
- The antenna settings have gone wrong, making searching for a signal a little difficult; half the channels are not broadcast.
- The set-top box does not turn on. The motherboard may have burned out. The reason for this could be a sudden voltage surge.
- "No Signal" screen. This is a common sign of problems with the antenna. When the antenna does not work as it should, problems with signal reception immediately begin. When a device has just been purchased and installed, there is a possibility that the programs are not fully configured. It may also be that all channels have disappeared; to solve the problem, look to see if the antenna has moved, perhaps there was a strong wind or bad weather.
- It happens that there are some problems with the connection between the cable and the antenna itself, as well as between the cable and the receiver. In this case, you will need to check how the cable is connected, whether it is plugged into the LNB IN socket.
When you have completed all the actions from the list above, but the signal has not arrived, then it is better to contact the specialist.
Also, do not forget about the connection between digital reception and weather conditions. Each subscriber can notice that when the weather is bad outside, the quality of the image, and therefore the signal, drops. When there is rain, wind or heavy snow outside the window, and so on, you can observe a negative impact on the antenna, due to which signal reception deteriorates and the TV does not broadcast channels.
Only after the weather has returned to normal do all processes begin to return to normal operation. So at such a moment you should not try to fix the breakdown yourself, thereby adjusting the channels. After bad weather, make sure that the cable is intact and does not move away from the antenna and set-top box.
The next, no less common problem, due to which the signal reception deteriorates, or there is no signal at all, is the failure of the receiver. There is no need to rush into going to your operator’s workshop or service center; you can take action on your own to help solve the problem.
Quite often you need to replace the power supply (adapter), and after that the operation returns to normal. The power supply may burn out, then it is enough to buy a new device and connect it. A more complicated situation is when the picture on the screen freezes after a short period of work. If the image still does not appear, you will have to visit a service workshop.
Reasons for the problem
It happens that suddenly or immediately after turning on the channels on the TV disappear, what are the reasons for this problem? There are several reasons why channels disappeared:
- A software failure has occurred.
- The signal coming from the TV tower is poor for the selected equipment, resulting in no reception to the TV.
These are the most common situations, and if desired, you can solve them on your own. When the TV does not see channels due to low-quality or broken equipment, then you can purchase a new antenna or install an additional signal amplifier, or take the non-working device to a workshop for repair. You should not disassemble the receiver yourself, as this may make the situation worse.
