Samsung TVs 2014: a new round of evolution

Each TV manufacturer annually updates its model range, and last year’s devices come at a lower price, and new year’s models, whenever possible, receive new technologies and replace old models. Samsung also updated its TV range in 2014.

The basis of the 2014 Samsung TV lineup will remain devices with LED backlighting. This is the name for television receivers with a liquid crystal (LCD) matrix and LED backlighting (in English LED). LCD TVs with fluorescent lamp backlight are no longer available.

TV receivers with OLED screens turned out to be very expensive, and so far their development has stopped. For example, the functionality of Smart TV has improved some parameters, there are more available services, and control using voice and gestures has improved. 3D remains on active technology, by which the glasses are controlled from the TV.

To understand that this model belongs to 2014, you need to look at the markings. For 2014, the marking uses the letter “H” , and for 2013 – “F”. Example: UE40H4200AK, the letter “H” means that the TV is from 2014. If there is a letter F, then it means a 2013 model, if there is another letter, then the TV was released even earlier.

All models of Samsung TV receivers are divided into series from the younger 4 series to the older 9 series. Series 9 contains all the advanced technologies, but the price is the highest. 4 Series models have the fewest features and new technologies. Typically, this year's series receives technical solutions from the older series of the previous year, and all new technical solutions are provided to the older series of the 8th and 9th. If you only need a good image from your TV, then you can choose the 4th and 5th series; if you want to get the minimum functionality of 3D and Smart TV, then you should consider the 5,6 and 7th series. But if you want the most advanced technology and the best image quality, then you need to consider the 8 and 9 series. The series number can also be found from the markings. The series number comes immediately after the letter designating the year of manufacture. In the example above, after the letter “H” there is a number “4”, which means this is a 2014 model and 4 series.

Samsung Curved (curved screen)

In these models, the screen is curved and it turns out that the viewer has a better viewing angle, which allows you to immerse yourself in what is happening on the screen. This effect is called the “presence effect” and, according to the company, it is better on curved screens than on flat ones. Such TVs should be well suited for creating a home theater. The above list does not include all Samsung TV models, because other devices that were supposed to be released in 2014 were announced at exhibitions. And although they are still not on sale, we will still provide a list of those devices that were just announced at various events and their availability for sale is quite likely.

UE105-BendableTV and UE85-BendableTV (transformers)

At the beginning of the year, at exhibitions, Samsung presented the UE105-BendableTV and UE85-BendableTV TVs, as can be seen from the markings, these are devices with screens of 105 inches and 85 inches. These displays come with an increased resolution of 4K. A distinctive feature of these models is the function of changing the curvature of the screen. In the new models, Smart TV has been changed, functions have been added to make it easier to use Internet services. But the price of these devices still remains very high, and the UE110S9AT model with a 110-inch screen will be one of the most expensive among TVs.

UE55U9000AT, UE65U9000AT, UE78U9000AT

Also at the beginning of the year, Samsung presented the U9000 series TVs. A distinctive feature of these models is the curved LCD LED screen. Previously, curved screens were only available on OLED models. But liquid crystal screens are cheaper and therefore the company turned to producing them in the form of a curved display. These Samsung TV models have quad-core processors for processing video in 4K resolution. You can watch four channels at once on one screen in multi-screen mode. There is a system that controls local dimming in 64 zones, which ensures uniform illumination. And the usual Full HD signal is converted to UHD using the Quadmatic Picture Engine system.

The line of 4K TVs continues, but with accessible screen diagonals and a range of functions compared to the “diamond” models. These are devices with a flat screen and Ultra HD resolution: UE50U8550 AT (50U8550), UE55U8550 AT (55U8550), UE60U8550 AT (60U8550), UE65U8550 AT (65U8550), UE70U8550 AT (70U8550), UE75U8550 AT (75U8 550). You can choose a display from 50 inches to 75. In addition to ultra-high resolution, the 8550 series has a Micro Dimming Pro system for uniform illumination. TV models 46H7100, 55H7000, 60H7500, 65H7150, 75H7150 belong to the middle class and are suitable for those buyers who do not need curved screens and ultra-high resolution. These are thin, stylish television receivers with all the capabilities of older models. Full HD screen, ability to view two channels at once on one display, smart TV, etc.

Samsung Full-HD TVs 2014 - 40H6000, 46H6000, 55H6000, 60H6000, 65H6000, 75H6000

Mid-range models UE40H6000, UE46H6000, UE55H6000, UE60H6000, UE65H6000, UE75H6000 come with Full HD screen resolution and a Smart TV platform. Like other series, the 6 series will also be released with its sub-series 6100, 6200, 6500, 6800.
