The number of buttons will depend on the model and version of the remote control. Starting with the AN-MR600, buttons with numbers were added to the remote control. Setting up a universal remote control to control devices

To switch between them, use zone A. Using the remote control, you can control your TV, DVD players and TV tuners, stereo systems and audio receivers, as well as a TV set-top box; to do this, just press the buttons with the corresponding values. However, the factory settings do not always correspond to the requirements of the devices, so additional adjustment may be required using the manufacturer's code, either manually or automatically.

Let's give an example of adjusting the television mode, but the same steps apply to DVD and audio.

With the TV turned on, hold down the TV button for a while, then release it as the LED lights up. Within ten seconds, enter the numeric code from the reference book that came with your device. If there is an error, the LED will blink three times; if entered correctly, it will go out. To check if the code works, try increasing the volume; if this happens, try other buttons. If any of them don't work, repeat the same sequence of steps but with different code.

WebOS

If you are too lazy to spend money on buying a remote control, and generally too lazy to go to the store. You can try downloading the "LG webOS Magic Remote" on your smartphone. This program has the same functionality as the remote control. Now you can control Smart TV functions from your phone. True, the application is supported only on smartphones with the Android operating system.

Possible problems

It happens that you succeed in connecting the remote control, but it executes commands incorrectly, or after some time it stops working altogether. In this case, you need to bind the remote control to the TV again. How to do it:

• hold down the “house” and the “BACK” key for a few seconds;
• press the wheel, wait for the registration notification.

Other common problems and how to fix them:

1. The cursor does not work. If shaking the remote control and re-registering does not help, check it for serviceability. Point the Magic Remote at your smartphone's camera and press any buttons. If the light on the phone screen is blinking, then the device is working properly. If not, the batteries may be dead or the remote may be faulty.
2. Delayed response. If the pointer slows down or moves jerkily, put the device down for a while. When the cursor disappears, shake the remote control and check the operation of the pointer. If this does not help, register again or replace the batteries.
3. Lost connection to TV. The reason may be obstacles, a distance between devices of more than 10 m, as well as interference from home appliances - other remote controls, computers, a router, and even a working microwave.
4. Liquid has spilled onto the remote control. To revive the accessory, remove the batteries and wait until they dry completely. If it doesn't help, you'll have to take it in for repairs or buy a new one.
5. There is plaque in the battery compartment. Most likely, they oxidized and leaked, causing the remote control to stop working. You need to change the batteries and wipe the inside of the compartment with a cloth moistened with hydrogen peroxide.

Sometimes the remote control does not recognize voice commands. Pronounce your words clearly and slowly. You will also have to practice with the gesture control function.

The MR600 usually has positive reviews, since the manufacturer took into account all the shortcomings of previous remote controls and finally added input buttons, without which it was hard for Internet surfers.

But with the MR500 model everything is much more complicated. Most users complain that the remote control quickly drains the batteries. I think the problem is in the system that is supposed to put the remote into standby mode when the transmitter is not in use. This has all been fixed in version 600.

There is no need to talk about any compatibility between the remote control and the TV.

If you have a TV of the sixth series, or lower, then what should you do? After all, I want to buy such a useful and convenient device, but will the remote control work with my TV model? I want to immediately note that if your TV does not have a Smart TV, then you definitely do not need a remote control. He's no use.

In principle, if you came to buy a remote control in a regular store, then there should be no problems. Most likely, the store has the same TV as yours, you can check compatibility. But as for purchasing in online stores, everything is more complicated there.

Let's look at the two latest models: AN-MR500 and AN-MR600. In theory, the AN-MR500 works with 2014 TV models, and the AN-MR600 with 2015 models. It is clear that not all TV models are supported. But this information is nowhere to be found. I looked at these remote controls in various online stores and on the LG website. And what do you think, I haven’t found specific information on compatibility anywhere.

This means that for the AN-MR500 it is written that it works with all 2014 models. And on the page with the AN-MR600 remote control there are several models that seem to be exactly supported. There is such confusion there that it is simply scary. Moreover, the description indicates several specific TV models, and in the comments, LG representatives write about compatibility with even more models. Some, however, support the remote control when connecting an additional Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter AN WF500.

Really, you can break your head there. Nothing is clear. Now the main question: is it so difficult to post a list of compatible TVs for each Magic Remote? Is it so difficult to indicate which models support the remote control and which only have an adapter? The most interesting thing is that this information is not even on the LG website. As a rule, only a couple of models are indicated there (with which the remote control is included). I don't understand this, to be honest. Maybe I just didn't find this information. In this case, I will be grateful for the hint.

Bottom line

1. There are 3 ways to configure the Rostelecom remote control: entering a code, brute force, or “copying” commands. The first one is simpler if you find the appropriate code. The second one will take a little longer, but sometimes you can set up a TV that does not have codes. The third is more universal, but you will need certain models of console and TV remotes.
2. When buying a new TV, the remote control can be easily reset and reconfigured for it.
3. If the Rostelecom remote control and the TV remote control work on the same channel, this can be corrected in the set-top box menu. It is rare, but if you are unlucky, I described the solution algorithm above.
